As a threat, a pandemic has indirect implications for social, economic and political conditions both at domestic and international levels. Thus, collective and comprehensive efforts are needed in responding to and preventing the expansion of infections caused by the virus, including Covid-19. This international conference provides the discourse on social, economic as well as political issues regarding the condition after the pandemic. Social issues are studied through social welfare, sociology, governance, communication and international relations approaches. Meanwhile, economic problems are discussed through business, economic development and economic management approaches. Under the First International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (ICHSOS) 2021, speakers from several countries provided solutions and alternative perspectives in preventing and dealing with problems after the Covid-19 pandemic. This book contains 42 papers presented at the conference.

This article analyses the features of women's social memory about the everyday life of a non-capital Soviet city of the late 1950s — early 1960s. The authors consider the event of the Khrushchev Thaw period, which now exists, rather, as part of the oral tradition, i.e. one about the history of the competition between Omsk and Leningrad for the best solution to the problem of their landscaping. In the 1950s–1960s, such a competition was disguised by ideologists as a game in order to increase the pace of work of the competing parties, so that the participants of such a "game" would not feel increased control over the degree of labour productivity and how consciously they used material resources. The empirical material the authors refer to consists of records of oral stories of female Omsk old-timers, who participated in the improvement and creating green spaces in their city more than half a century ago. Also, the authors employ regulatory documents, periodicals, materials from film and photographic archives, and industrial literature. The interdisciplinary research is carried out using traditional historical methods developed by gender anthropology, oral and female history approaches, and ethnology of everyday practices. An analysis of the sequences of oral texts makes it necessary to raise the question of the causes and nature of a stable positive reaction to an event half a century ago and to conclude about the special nature of "nostalgia for the Soviet", about the sense of collectivism lost over time or the emotions of youth re-experienced. The gender factor (the perception of life at home and the street as a private space, which women traditionally cared for) provided an optimistic colouring of the events remembered, which have not been previously analysed in studies of urban non-capital Soviet everyday life.

This book offers the concept of rhetorical citizenship as a meeting ground for the burgeoning community of scholars interested in rhetoric's place in society. It brings together contributions from several disciplinary traditions in communication studies and neighbouring fields. The concept of rhetorical citizenship highlights the discursive, processual, and participatory aspects of civic life. It builds on the ancient idea that rhetoric is what makes civilized society possible; citizenship is in large part discursively based. Legal rights, privileges and material conditions are not the only constituents of citizenship; discourse between citizens is arguably the basis of what it means to be a citizen.0

This paper evaluates the effects of globalization on human development, gender development and human poverty in the developing countries and compares the effects across world regions as well as the income groups of countries. Applying the GLS random effect model to the annual panel data of 124 developing countries covering 9 years from 1997, the study shows that globalization, measured by the KOF Index of globalization, not only promotes human and gender development but also reduces human poverty significantly. Not surprisingly, all three aspects of globalization (economic, social and political) contribute to the overall effect of globalization. To complement these findings, the paper calls for a study of some country cases. The conclusion is made that such studies will facilitate the development of policy recommendations tailored towards countries in their cultural context, with a positive (or at least neutral) impact on the reduction of human development gaps within them.

Asian countries have abundant resources of natural fibers, but unfortunately, they have not been optimally utilized. The facts showed that from 2014 to 2020, there was a shortfall in meeting national demand of over USD 2.75 million per year. Therefore, in order to develop the utilization and improve the economic potential as well as the sustainability of natural fibers, a comprehensive review is required. The study aimed to demonstrate the availability, technological processing, and socio-economical aspects of natural fibers. Although many studies have been conducted on this material, it is necessary to revisit their potential from those perspectives to maximize their use. The renewability and biodegradability of natural fiber are part of the fascinating properties that lead to their prospective use in automotive, aerospace industries, structural and building constructions, bio packaging, textiles, biomedical applications, and military vehicles. To increase the range of applications, relevant technologies in conjunction with social approaches are very important. Hence, in the future, the utilization can be expanded in many fields by considering the basic characteristics and appropriate technologies of the natural fibers. Selecting the most prospective natural fiber for creating national products can be assisted by providing an integrated management system from a digitalized information on potential and related technological approaches. To make it happens, collaborations between stakeholders from the national R&D agency, the government as policy maker, and academic institutions to develop national bioproducts based on domestic innovation in order to move the circular economy forward are essential.
