AbstractThis paper examines how hockey is used to construct and demarcate the Canadian national community from external others, namely, the USA, Europe and Russia/USSR. The paper suggests popular nationalist narratives around the sport of hockey construct difference from external others in ways that place them in tension with state and corporate interests. Drawing on the concept of everyday nationalism, this article explores how the interplay between international competition, national identity and commercial sport has made hockey an ambiguous and contested national symbol in Canada.

Some claim that court judgments have little or no effect. In contrast,
others worry that judges will usurp the policymaking role of the political
branches and override the expertise and experience of civil servants. As
this thoughtful and wide-ranging collection of papers demonstrates, both
claims are exaggerated.

The paper contributes to the historiography of the domestic science of
International Relations, observed through its processing of the nonalignment
in the socialist Yugoslavia period. The author has analysed the relevant
academic literature that deals with the nonalignment as a concept, a movement
and an interplay of social relations. Initially, the paper presents a short
sketch of the development of the science of International Relation within
Yugoslav social sciences, and then the development of the part of the IR
science that had nonalignment as its object. The author has shown the strong
threads of the Marxist approach to the International Relations in the
analyses of the nonaligned movement and its genesis, but also flexibility and
eclecticism in the analyses of various related topics. The author has also
displayed a wide focus of such a science on the analysis of the role of
internal factors in defining the foreign policy and of the importance given
to the historical experience and subjectivity in action, which are
characteristics of more contemporary theories like constructivism and
liberalism. In that sense, the author concludes the theoretical production of
that era should be evaluated in more detail, in light of the actual state of
play in the science of International Relations.

While the increased scale and importance of international students to the UK Higher Education sector is now well established, little is known about the ways in which students from non-UK countries experience and interact with the heavy drinking culture that predominates on and near many British universities. Drawing on qualitative interviews, this article analyses the perceptions, attitudes, and experiences of British drinking cultures held by international students studying on postgraduate courses at a UK university. Students report prior awareness of alcohol consumption being important to British culture and recount both positive and negative experiences of witnessing and, for many, participating in drinking alcohol. Students make ready comparisons with the drinking habits and attitudes of their own culture. Further still, many made a distinction between the public house, or 'pub', as a welcoming and friendly social space, and bars and nightclubs, where a far greater risk of exposure to violence and harassment was perceived. The article provides theoretical insights to support future and more wide-ranging research into mobile drinking cultures and also suggests practical implications to inform stakeholders with interests in the welfare of international students in the UK in relation to the provision of effective and proactive policies which address the impact of British drinking cultures on international student integration and well-being.

Abstract
Resistance to the law made through expansionist interpretation of investment treaties by arbitral tribunals has led to the disintegration of the resulting structure of investment protection. The creation of an inflexible system of investment protection through arbitral interpretation undermines the exercise of power of states to take measures to protect the public interest. The process of disintegration of this unjust system must be hastened through the creation of new norms that ensure that obligatory rules deter the misconduct of multinational investors. If investment treaties are necessary, the regulatory power of states to promote the public interest should be given priority over investment protection.
