This paper presents five consultation workshops with 29 community pharmacists, stakeholders and patients that examined "patient-centred professionalism" in terms of pharmacists' working day and environment. The concept is ill-defined in both medical and pharmacy literature and the study aimed to clarify the situated nature of the term for patients and health professionals across settings. Workshops were supported by bio-photographic datasets of "in-situ" practice and Nominal Group Work.
The thematic content analyses led to the following aspects: building caring relationships; managing external forces; the effects of space and environment, and different roles and expectations. The study reveals how patient-centred professionalism cannot be defined in any singular or stationary sense, but should be seen as a "moveable feast", best understood through everyday examples of practice and interaction, in relation to whose experience is being expressed, and whose needs considered. The phrase is being mobilised by a whole set of interests and stakeholders to reshape practice, the effect of which remains both uncertain and contested. Whilst patients prioritise a quick and efficient dispensing service from knowledgeable pharmacists, pharmacists rail against increasing public demands and overtly formalised consultations that take them away from the dispensary where the defining aspects of their professionalism lie.

This essay focuses on Cuban immigration to South Florida and Germany. Focusing on two biographies, this essay shall introduce the migration backgrounds and living conditions in the countries of immigration. The construction of ethnic belonging for migrants from Cuba is unquestioningly self-evident for migrants from Cuba both in Germany and Florida. In creating this ethnic belonging, immigrants refer to Cuba's history, culture and art. Strong similarities can be found in these constructions despite the rather different circumstances that the migrants face in their countries of immigration. In terms of the use of art in these constructions, a biographical empirical approach can show how occupation as an artist can either help individuals find solutions for contradictory aspects of life in the country of immigration or help create continuity with the migrants' past prior to their migration.

In diesem Beitrag wird der Frage nach der Transformation von Zugehörigkeitskonstruktionen im Laufe des Lebens, eingebettet in die Familien- und Kollektivgeschichte, nachgegangen. Anhand der Falldarstellung dreier Frauen einer Familie, die als ethnische Deutsche aus der ehemaligen Sowjetunion Anfang der 1990er Jahre nach Deutschland einwanderten, zeigen wir, wie durch den Migrationsprozess und die Fremdzuschreibungen im Ankunftsland Fragen der Zugehörigkeit ausgelöst werden. Es wird deutlich, welche Strategien der biografischen Arbeit die unterschiedlichen Familienangehörigen jeweils leisten. Dies ist auf ihre spezifischen lebensgeschichtlichen Erfahrungen – und damit verbunden ihre Zugehörigkeit zu unterschiedlichen historischen Generationen – zurückzuführen. So werden bei der Großmutter während der Migration nach Deutschland die Erlebnisse der Deportation von der Wolgarepublik nach Sibirien im Zuge des Zweiten Weltkriegs reaktiviert und ihre Zugehörigkeitskonstruktion als Wolgadeutsche wird verfestigt. Ihre Schwiegertochter hingegen nähert sich nach der Migration der Frage nach ihrer eigenen Zugehörigkeit über die Frage nach der Zugehörigkeit zu einer religiösen Wir-Gruppe an. Die Enkelin wiederum beschäftigt sich vor und nach der Migration relativ erfolgreich damit, die Verbindung zwischen der Zugehörigkeit zu ihrer Herkunftsfamilie und ihren Peergroups in der – zunächst durch die russische Dominanzkultur geprägten – Sowjetgesellschaft und später in der deutschen Mehrheitsgesellschaft zu finden.

This article examines the problem of analysing the interaction between humans and domestic animals. The research involved the analysis of transcripts of video recordings representing the interactions between humans and animals. Observations of touch and gesture exchange allowed the reconstruction social rituals (greetings and farewells) as well as other social forms of association (playing, spontaneous expressing of emotions, baths, putting to sleep, walks, fights during walks, indulgent reproach), which create emotional and social bonds. The analysis of visual data provided an opportunity to examine the corporality and direct interactions of bodies in the sequential exchange of gestures. The method applied in the analysis of data was grounded theory.

In Chile existieren vielfältige qualitative Forschungsansätze, einer davon ist kritische Sozialpsychologie. Hier geht es um einen Zugang, der die Perspektive der sozialen Akteure einbezieht und von einem lokalen Wissenskonzept ausgeht, das die Irrtümer von Objektivität und wissenschaftlicher Neutralität zurückweist. In diesem Beitrag werden die zentralen Charakteristika einer kritischen Sozialpsychologie und deren Verbindung zu qualitativer Forschung diskutiert. Danach wird der Forschungsprozess beschrieben in seinen Bezügen zu kollektiven Erinnerungen der Opfer von Menschenrechtsverletzungen während des Putsches und der Militärdiktatur in Chile, und es wird gezeigt, in welcher Weise die Forschungsergebnisse künstlerisch-politische Interventionen während der Trauerfeiern zum 11. September 2005 ermöglichten.

Qualitative Verfahren werden in der Sozial- und Praxisforschung meist verwandt, weil sie eine intensive Analyse von Kausalfaktoren und die Entwicklung alternativer Handlungsoptionen im Fall sozialer Problemstellungen eher unterstützen als quantitative Verfahren. Ausgehend von den Ergebnisse aus drei Studien im Feld der Politischen und Geschlechterpsychologie beschäftigt sich dieser Artikel mit Teilnehmender Aktionsforschung als einem sinnvollen qualitativen Ansatz zum Umgehen mit sozialen Phänomenen wie Rassismus, Gewalt gegen Frauen oder mit Kindern, die aufgrund bewaffneter Konflikte gezwungen sind, ihre Heimat zu verlassen. Hierzu werden drei Bereiche angesprochen: 1. Es wird kurz in die Geschichte und in den theoretischen Bezugsrahmen des Paradigmas der Teilnehmenden Aktionsforschung eingeführt. 2. Es werden aktuelle Entwicklungen in den USA, Deutschland und Lateinamerika zusammengeführt, dies insbesondere auch mit Blick auf Frauenforschung. 3. Teilnehmende Aktionsforschung wird als Verfahrensgruppe beschrieben incl. den relevanten Modellen, Zielen und Hauptkonzepten.

"Das Papier untersucht die Behauptung, dass internationale Migration und zunehmende ethnische Heterogenität die Durchführbarkeit und Legitimität des umverteilenden Wohlfahrtsstaates vor große Herausforderungen stellt. Allerdings kann Einwanderung in europäischen Ländern möglicherweise auch Probleme der demographischen Alterung, von Arbeitskräfteknappheit im Bereich sozialer Dienstleistungen und der Finanzierung künftiger Renten abmildern. In dem Papier werden drei Betrachtungsweisen daraufhin geprüft, warum eine insgesamt vorteilhafte Beziehung von Einwanderung und Tragfähigkeit des Wohlfahrtsstaates bislang nicht erreicht wurde. Nach der ersten Betrachtungsweise wird der umverteilende Wohlfahrtsstaat gefährdet, weil die durch Zuwanderung gesteigerte ethnische Heterogenität die soziale Solidarität schwinden lässt. Die zweite Argumentationslinie bezieht sich darauf, dass die Zuwanderung von Personen - insbesondere aus nicht-westlichen Ländern - mit niedrigem Qualifikationsniveau unverträglich ist mit den negativen Arbeitsanreizen, die durch recht generöse und leicht zugängliche Leistungen des Wohlfahrtsstaates gesetzt werden. Die dritte Betrachtungsweise schließlich sieht die Ursachen der Probleme ökonomischer Integration von Immigranten in diskriminierenden Einstellungen und Praktiken von Entscheidungsträgern in den Empfängerländern, wozu insbesondere Arbeitgeber und das Personal in Einrichtungen der Arbeitsmarktpolitik und anderen sozialen Dienstleistungsorganisationen zu rechnen sind. In dem Papier wird die erste Betrachtungsweise aufgrund von theoretischen Überlegungen und empirischen Befunden zurückgewiesen. Im Schlussteil wird argumentiert, dass bessere Längsschnittdaten zu den Beschäftigungskontexten und Arbeitsbedingungen von Immigranten sowie dem Vorkommen von Diskriminierungen erforderlich sind, um eine Einschätzung der Gültigkeit der zweiten und dritten Argumentationslinie vornehmen zu können." "This article explores the sorely overlooked role of science within the civil society scheme, subscribing a scientific sphere of influence according to the minimalist civil society model. It first introduces the relevance of this sphere to the civil society project as a whole, and then provides a case study of one organization of scientists, the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), situated on the border of the science and civil spheres. The study reviews SPSSI's successes in advancing values today associated with civil society, and then examines more closely the challenges that have been posed to such activities by the state, market, science, and civil realms alike. These challenges, it is argued, are a threat to all organizations seeking to advance the values of civil society, and such organizations would do well to prepare for the probable interference by each of these spheres as SPSSI did not. In addition, those aspects of SPSSI's history unique to social scientific endeavors can illuminate challenges which civil society researchers share as social scientists with a particular social vision. SPSSI's perpetual negotiation of two sets of tensions - that between elitism and democratic values, and that between scientific neutralist and social engagement - reveal the paradoxes inherent in any social scientific movement. Finally, it is concluded that studies of 'borderland' organizations like SPSSI may provide a fruitful point of departure for further studies of science and civil society." (author's abstract)

How do three generations of families live today with the family and the collective past during the Nazi period? What influences does this past of the first generation, and their own ways of dealing with it, have upon the lives of their offspring and on the ways in which the latter come to terms with their family history? These are the general empirical questions put forward by our current researchi. The specific focus of our study lies in comparing different family constellations based on whether the first generation can be categorized as victims, perpetrators, or Nazifollowers during the Nazi period. Particulary form a sociological perspective we also investigate how biographically different family histories after 1945 - in Israel, in West Germany (FRG) and in the one-time East Germany (GDR) - affect the process of transmission from one generation to the next. In three generations of Jewish and non-Jewish German and Israeli families we examine the process by which the famliy history is passed down through the generations. The aim is to reconstruct constellations in life-stories which may facilitate the psychological and social integration of people burdened with a threatening collective and family past.

Die EU sah sich im entscheidenden Jahr 2015 infolge des 2011 ausgebrochenen Bürgerkriegs in Syrien und der anschließenden politischen Destabilisierung in den Ländern des Nahen Ostens mit einem beispiellosen Flüchtlingsstrom konfrontiert. Insbesondere die Ersteinreiseländer—Italien und Griechenland [in gewissem Umfang auch Spanien]—waren zwischen 2014 und Mitte 2015 mit dem höchsten Migrationsdruck konfrontiert. Darüber hinaus waren die Transitländer—Ungarn—im Sommer 2015 aufgrund eines neuen Einreisekanals, nämlich der Westbalkanroute, ebenfalls von den Flüchtlingsankünften überfordert. Infolgedessen gab es in den EU-Mitgliedstaaten ein sehr unterschiedliches Verhalten bei der Frage, ob sie Flüchtlinge auf nationaler Ebene aufnehmen sollten oder nicht. Insbesondere Deutschland entschied sich für die freiwillige Aufnahme von Flüchtlingen und wurde so zum Zielland mit dem höchsten Migrationsdruck im Spätsommer 2015. Um das Flüchtlingsproblem auf europäischer Ebene anzugehen, verabschiedete der EU-Rat im September 2015 zwei Relocation-Entscheidungen, die auf die von der EU-Kommission im Mai 2015 vorgeschlagenen Maßnahmen der Europäischen Migrationsagenda folgen. Ziel der beiden Relocation-Entscheidungen war die Umverteilung von Flüchtlingen auf die EU-Mitgliedstaaten—insbesondere auf Griechenland und Italien—nach dem Aufteilungsverantwortungsprinzip. Die EU-Mitgliedsstaaten verhielten sich dementsprechend sehr unterschiedlich zu dem in den Relocation-Entscheidungen enthaltenen Prinzip der Verantwortungsteilung. In diesem Zusammenhang ist es wichtig, das Verhalten der EU-Mitgliedstaaten gegenüber Flüchtlingen sowohl auf nationaler als auch auf europäischer Ebene zu verstehen. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den folgenden zwei Forschungsfragen (FF) zu dieser Debatte: FF₁: Was erklärt das Verhalten der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten hinsichtlich der (Nicht-)Aufnahme von Flüchtlingen auf nationaler Ebene? FF₂: Was erklärt das Verhalten der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten in Bezug auf die Verantwortungsteilung für Personen, die eindeutig internationalen Schutz benötigen auf EU-Ebene? Diese Arbeit beantwortet die Forschungsfragen mit Hilfe des theoretischen Paradigmas des Liberalen Intergouvernementalismus (LI), das auf Staatspräferenzen, zwischenstaatlicher Verhandlungsmacht und institutioneller Entscheidung beruht [die institutionelle Entscheidung wurde aufgrund des gewählten Zeitrahmens der Studie und des laufenden GEAS-Reformprozesses nicht in die Analyse einbezogen]. Methodisch ist diese Arbeit durch einen vergleichenden Fallstudienansatz konzipiert, der drei EU-Mitgliedstaaten, nämlich Italien, Ungarn und Deutschland, in die Analyse einbezieht. Die primären Datenquellen sind die 39 Tiefeninterviews, die mit innenpolitischen, wirtschaftlichen und nichtstaatlichen Interessengruppen sowie mit Forschern, Wissenschaftlern und Journalisten im Bereich Asyl und Migration in den ausgewählten Ländern geführt wurden. Die befragten Personen sind Experten auf diesem Gebiet und bekleiden hochrangige Positionen in den jeweiligen nationalen Institutionen. Darüber hinaus bilden jährliche Berichte, die sowohl auf nationaler als auch auf EU-Ebene veröffentlicht werden, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Messung statistischer Indikatoren, Pressemitteilungen der EU und der nationalen Institutionen sowie Policy Briefs, die sekundäre Datenquelle. Die empirischen Ergebnisse zu FF₁ zeigen die folgenden drei Akzeptanzmuster von Flüchtlingen auf nationaler Ebene: formale Akzeptanz (Italien), Nicht-Akzeptanz (Ungarn) und freiwillige Akzeptanz (Deutschland). Der Grad der Akzeptanz wird durch die Konstellation von primären wirtschaftlichen und sekundären ideologischen Interessen der nationalen Akteure bestimmt. Genauer gesagt werden diese primären wirtschaftlichen Interessen in den ausgewählten Ländern—Italien, Ungarn und Deutschland—durch die Nachfrage nach Arbeitskräften im Vergleich zu den besten Alternativen, die den Staaten zur Verfügung stehen, um diese zu befriedigen, die Arbeitslosenquote sowie durch die nationalen Sozialversicherungssysteme, insbesondere im Fall Italiens, bestimmt. Die Ideologie ist die zweite Quelle für den Grad der Akzeptanz von Flüchtlingen auf nationaler Ebene. Dies führte zu zwei ideologischen Verhaltensmustern der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten, nämlich der pro-europäischen Ideologie (Italien und Deutschland) und der nationalistischen Ideologie (Ungarn). Die Ideologie wird durch die Wahrung der Menschenrechte, den Grad der Solidarität in der Gesellschaft sowie die Einhaltung der nationalen, europäischen und internationalen Gesetze und Konventionen zum Asylrecht operationalisiert. Im Hinblick auf den FF₂ zeigt diese Studie die folgenden zwei Verhaltensmuster der EU-Mitgliedstaaten in Bezug auf die Zusammenarbeit bei der Aufteilung der Verantwortung für Flüchtlinge auf EU-Ebene: kooperativ (Italien und Deutschland) und nicht-kooperativ (Ungarn). Sie werden unter Bezugnahme auf den Migrationsdruck als Ergebnis der ersten Asylanträge in jedem der Länder operationalisiert wird. Zusammenfassend bietet diese Studie eine systematische und umfassende Bottom-up-Analyse durch eine rationalistische Linse in Bezug auf das Verhalten der EU-Mitgliedstaaten bei der Aufnahme von Flüchtlingen auf nationaler Ebene und ihre Zusammenarbeit bei der Aufteilung der Verantwortung auf europäischer Ebene. ; The EU faced unprecedented refugee flows in the crucial year 2015 as the result of the civil war in Syria started in 2011 and the following political destabilization in the Middle East countries. In particular, first entry countries—Italy and Greece [Spain to some extent]—faced the highest migration pressure between 2014 and mid-2015. Furthermore, transit countries—Hungary—were overwhelmed also by refugee arrivals in summer 2015 as the result of a new entry-channel namely the Western Balkan route. As a matter of consequence, EU member states met with strong variated behaviors whether to accept refugees or not at the national level. In particular, Germany decided to voluntary accept refugees becoming the destination country with the highest migration pressure in late summer 2015. In order to address the refugee issue at the European level, the EU Council adopted in September 2015 two Relocation Decisions following the measures included in the European Agenda on Migration proposed by the EU Commission in May 2015. The two Relocation Decisions' aim was the redistribution of refugees among the EU member states—assisting particularly Greece and Italy—based on the principle of responsibility sharing. As a matter of consequence, the EU member states behaviors regarding the principle of responsibility sharing included in the Relocation Decisions varied strongly. In this context, it is relevant to understand the behavior of the EU member states towards refugees at both national and European levels. This thesis addresses the following two Research Questions (RQs) related to this debate: RQ₁: What explains EU member state behaviors regarding the (non) acceptance of refugees at the national level? RQ₂: What explains EU member state behaviors toward the responsibility sharing for people in clear need of international protection (PCNIP) at the EU-wide level? This thesis answers the research questions using the theoretical paradigm of Liberal Intergovernmentalism (LI) based on state preferences, interstate bargaining power and institutional choice [this latter has not been included in the analysis as the result of the chosen time frame in the study and the ongoing CEAS reform process]. Methodologically, this thesis is designed through a comparative case study approach including in the analysis three EU member states namely Italy, Hungary and Germany. The primary sources of data are the 39 in depth-interviews conducted with political domestic interests groups, economic and non-governmental ones as well as researchers, scholars and journalists in the field of asylum and migration in the case selected countries. The interviewed people are experts in this field and occupy high-up positions in the respective domestic institutions. Furthermore, yearly reports published at both national and EU-wide levels, especially regarding the measurement of statistical indicators, EU and national institutions' press releases as well as policy briefs provide the secondary source of data. The empirical results regarding RQ₁ show the following three patterns of acceptance of refugees at the national level: formal acceptance (Italy), non-acceptance (Hungary) and voluntary acceptance (Germany). The degree of acceptance is determined by the constellation of primary economic interests of domestic actors and secondary ideological ones. More specifically, those primary economic interests in the case selected countries—Italy, Hungary and Germany—are determined themselves by the demand for labor compared to the best alternatives that states have in order to satisfy it, the unemployment rate, as well as of ailing national security systems especially in the case of Italy. Ideology represents the secondary source regarding the degree of acceptance of refugees at the national level. This led to two patterns of EU member state behaviors in ideological terms namely the pro-European ideology (Italy and Germany) and the nationalistic one (Hungary). Ideology is operationalized by the upholding of human rights, the degree of solidarity in the society as well as the compliance with national, European and international legislations and conventions regarding the right to provide asylum. With regard to the RQ₂, this thesis shows the following two patterns of EU member state behaviors toward cooperation on the responsibility sharing for refugees at the EU level: cooperative (Italy and Germany) and non-cooperative (Hungary). They are explained in reference to the EU member states bargaining power—determined by the unilateral policies and the alternative coalitions—that they have during the negotiation process regarding the Relocation Scheme in order to contrast the migration pressure [this latter is operationalized through the number of first asylum application lodged in each of the countries]. In sum, this study provides a systematic and comprehensive bottom-up analysis through a rationalist lens in an undertheorized policy field, where research is needed. ; 2022-03-21

We confirm both planets and their association with LTT 3780 via ground-based photometry and determine their masses using precise radial velocities measured with the CARMENES spectrograph. Precise stellar parameters determined from CARMENES high-resolution spectra confirm that LTT 3780 is a mid-M dwarf with an effective temperature of Teff = 3360 ± 51 K, a surface gravity of log g∗ = 4.81 ± 0.04 (cgs), and an iron abundance of [Fe/H] = 0.09 ± 0.16 dex, with an inferred mass of M∗ = 0.379 ± 0.016M· and a radius of R∗ = 0.382 ± 0.012R·. The ultra-short-period planet LTT 3780 b (Pb = 0.77 d) with a radius of 1.35-0.06+0.06 R·, a mass of 2.34-0.23+0.24 M·, and a bulk density of 5.24-0.81+0.94 g cm-3 joins the population of Earth-size planets with rocky, terrestrial composition. The outer planet, LTT 3780 c, with an orbital period of 12.25 d, radius of 2.42-0.10+0.10 R·, mass of 6.29-0.61+0.63 M·, and mean density of 2.45-0.37+0.44 g cm-3 belongs to the population of dense sub-Neptunes. With the two planets located on opposite sides of the radius gap, this planetary system is anexcellent target for testing planetary formation, evolution, and atmospheric models. We present measurements of the properties of the central radio source in M87 using Event Horizon Telescope data obtained during the 2017 campaign. We develop and fit geometric crescent models (asymmetric rings with interior brightness depressions) using two independent sampling algorithms that consider distinct representations of the visibility data. We show that the crescent family of models is statistically preferred over other comparably complex geometric models that we explore. We calibrate the geometric model parameters using general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) models of the emission region and estimate physical properties of the source. We further fit images generated from GRMHD models directly to the data. We compare the derived emission region and black hole parameters from these analyses with those recovered from reconstructed images. There is a remarkable consistency among all methods and data sets. We find that >50% of the total flux at arcsecond scales comes from near the horizon, and that the emission is dramatically suppressed interior to this region by a factor >10, providing direct evidence of the predicted shadow of a black hole. Across all methods, we measure a crescent diameter of 42 ± 3 μas and constrain its fractional width to be <0.5. Associating the crescent feature with the emission surrounding the black hole shadow, we infer an angular gravitational radius of GM/Dc2 = 3.8 ± 0.4 μas. Folding in a distance measurement of ${16.8}_{-0.7}^{+0.8}\,\mathrm{Mpc}$ gives a black hole mass of $M=6.5\pm 0.2{| }_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm 0.7{| }_{\mathrm{sys}}\times {10}^{9}\hspace{2pt}{M}_{\odot }$. This measurement from lensed emission near the event horizon is consistent with the presence of a central Kerr black hole, as predicted by the general theory of relativity.© 2019. The Turkish government has adopted a new energy policy to diversify electricity supply through exploitation of the remaining potential of the domestic fossil fuels and the renewable energy resources. The main goal of the new energy policy, so called "energy policy 2023" in this dissertation, is to increase the share of renewable in energy mix to at least 30% of the annual total generation in 2023; whereas to reduce that of natural gas to at least 30%. Accordingly, the target capacity expansion of renewable energy technologies (RETs) is anticipated to bring gains in gross domestic product, reductions in natural gas imports and CO2 emissions. The aforementioned assessments are limited in scope to the analysis of the impacts of substituting combined cycled gas power plants by RETs; although the governmental policies are principally analyzed taking into account their benefits and costs to the society considering alternative utilizations of the scarce resources. Therefore, this dissertation aims to carry out analyses on the energy policy 2023 regarding the development of the investments in RETs and the net social benefit of the proposed capacity expansion targets for the domestic energy resources. The investment analysis is carried out by quantifying the level of full load hours (FLHs) of operation to trigger investment in RETs by utilizing the net present value (NPV) and the real option methods taking into account the revenue streams from the feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme and the wholesale market price of electricity respectively. The results of the analysis are compared with the resource potential related to the FLHs of RETs in Turkey to discuss whether the capacity expansion targets are reachable or not. The novelty of this study lies in the application of the NPV and the real option methods to quantify threshold FLHs for the aforementioned investment analysis. The analyses on the development of the investments in RETs indicate that the targets for biomass, solar PV and geothermal power plants are anticipated to be reachable under the given assumptions; whereas the achievement of the targets for hydropower and wind power plants are considered to be dependent on the decision of the Turkish government whether the corresponding FiT rates should be increased. Indeed, the Turkish government has declared that the rates in FiT scheme can be raised; in order to reach the RET capacity expansion targets for the year 2023. The net social benefit of adopting energy policy 2023 is relatively measured by developing a capacity expansion model to conduct techno-economic analyses on the reference (i.e. energy policy 2023) and the alternative capacity expansion scenarios. Accordingly, the net social benefit of adopting energy policy 2023 indicates the 2015 present value of foregone/gained savings in capital, fuel and external costs in comparison to an alternative capacity expansion scenario. In total, four alternative capacity expansion scenarios are constructed dependent on renewable, imported hard coal and natural gas substituting for domestic types of coal and also on both imported hard coal and natural gas substituting for domestic energy resources in the reference scenario. The novelty of this analysis lies in the developed capacity expansion model and the techno-economic assessments based on the concurrent novel studies on the future load duration curves of Turkey and the improved screening curve approach. The results of the analyses indicate that the main goal of the energy policy 2023 cannot be fulfilled only by the capacity expansion scenario solely dependent on natural gas and imported hard coal due to having a share of renewable less than the targeted one. The social cost-benefit analysis of the energy policy 2023 indicates that the targeted capacity expansion of RETs is more beneficial than that of fossil fuel fired power plants. In contrast, the targeted capacity expansion based on domestic coal types are less beneficial than that of imported hard coal and can also be less beneficial than that of natural gas through attaching more value to the health and environmental concerns. Finally, the capacity expansion scenarios, which are based on renewable resources or imported hard coal in the place of domestic types of coal, can provide more benefits to the society by improving the energy policy 2023. In conclusion, the Turkish government should review the granted subsidizations to promote investments in RETs and should consider solely relying on the capacity expansion of RETs to achieve the greatest possible net benefit for the period 2015-2023 according to the established method of cost-benefit analysis. ; Die türkische Regierung hat eine neue Energiepolitik beschlossen mit dem Ziel die Stromversorgung des Landes durch Ausnutzung noch vorhandener heimischer fossiler Energieträger und erneuerbare Energiequellen zu diversifizieren. Das Hauptziel der in dieser Dissertation behandelten neuen Energiepolitik, genannt "die Energiepolitik 2023", ist es, den Anteil der erneuerbaren Energien im Energiemix der jährlichen Gesamterzeugung bis zum Jahr 2023 auf mindestens 30% zu erhöhen. Gleichzeitig soll der Anteil der Energieerzeugung aus Erdgas auf maximal 30% reduziert werden. Durch den Ausbau der Zielkapazität von Technologien für erneuerbare Energie (Renewable Energy Technologies - RETs) wird ein Zuwachs des Bruttoinlandsproduktes, eine Senkung der Erdgasimporte und eine Reduktion der CO2-Emissionen erwartet. Während sich die regierungspolitischen Analysen der o.g. Energiepolitik hauptsächlich auf die Kosten/Nutzen-Analyse alternativer Nutzungen knapper Ressourcen fokussiert, beschränkt sich die vorliegende Bewertung auf die Analyse der Auswirkungen des Austausches der Gaskraftwerke durch RETs. Diese Dissertation zielt insbesondere auf die Analyse der Entwicklung von RET-Investitionen, die im Rahmen der Energiepolitik 2023 vorgesehen sind, und den damit verbundenen Nettonutzen (net social benefit). Die Investitionsanalyse wird über die Quantifizierung der Schwellenwerte der Betriebsvolllaststunden (FLHs) für das Auslösen der RET-Investitionen durchgeführt. Hierzu wird die Kapitalwertmethode (NPV) und die Realoptionsanalyse unter Berücksichtigung der entsprechenden Einnahmequellen von Einspeisevergütungen (FiT) und der Großhandelsmarktpreis für Strom verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der Analyse werden mit den FLHs bereits realisierter RET-Projekte in der Türkei verglichen, um beurteilen zu können, ob die Kapazitätsausbauziele erreichbar sind. Die Neuheit dieser Studie liegt in der Anwendung der vorerwähnten Methoden (NPV, Realoption) um die Schwellenwerte der FLHs für die RET-Investitionen zu quantifizieren. Die Analyse zur Entwicklung der RET-Investitionen zeigen, dass die Ziele für Biomasse, Solar PV und geothermische Kraftwerke unter den gegebenen Annahmen erreichbar erscheinen, während die Erreichung der Ziele für Wasser- und Windkraftwerke davon abhängig ist, dass die türkische Regierung die entsprechenden FiT-Raten erhöht. Die türkische Regierung hat bereits angekündigt, dass die Einspeisevergütungen erhöht werden können, um die RET-Kapazitätsausbauziele für das Jahr 2023 zu erreichen. Der Nettonutzen der Energiepolitik 2023 wird relativ gemessen durch die Entwicklung eines Kapazitätsausbau-Modells mit technisch-ökonomischer Analyse des Referenz-Ausbauszenarios (Energiepolitik 2023) verglichen mit alternativen Ausbauszenarien. Dementsprechend zeigt der Nettonutzen der Energiepolitik 2023 den Barwert (abgerechnet auf das Jahr 2015) der entgangenen/gewonnenen Einsparungen an Kapital, Brennstoff und externen Kosten im Vergleich zu alternativen Ausbauszenarien. Insgesamt wurden vier alternative Ausbauszenarien aufgebaut; erneuerbare Energien, importierte Steinkohle und Erdgas, jeweils anstelle der heimischen Kohlearten sowie importierte Steinkohle und Erdgas gemeinsam anstelle der heimischen Energieresourcessen im Referenz-Ausbauszenario. Die Neuheit dieser Analyse liegt im entwickelten Kapazitätsausbau-Modell und der durchgeführten technisch-ökonomischen Analyse basierend auf den gleichzeitigen neuen Studien über "The Future Load Duration Curves of Turkey" und "The Improved Screening Curve Approach". Die Ergebnisse der Analyse zeigen, dass das Hauptziel der Energiepolitik 2023 nur durch das Ausbauszenario, das auf Erdgas und importierte Steinkohle basiert, nicht erfüllt werden kann, weil der erreichte Anteil der erneuerbaren Energien geringer als der angestrebte Anteil ist. Die Kosten/Nutzen-Analyse der Energiepolitik 2023 zeigt, dass der gezielte Kapazitätsausbau von RETs nützlicher als der von fossil befeuerten Kraftwerken ist. Im Gegensatz dazu ist der gezielte Kapazitätsausbau basierend auf den heimischen Kohlesorten weniger vorteilhaft als der auf importierter Steinkohle basierende. Außerdem kann er auch weniger vorteilhaft als der Erdgas-basierende sein, wenn mehr Wert auf Gesundheits- und Umweltschutz gelegt wird. Schließlich können die Ausbauszenarien, die auf erneuerbaren Energien oder importer Steinkohle anstelle heimischer Kohlesorten basieren, durch eine Verbesserung der Energiepolitik 2023 mehr Nutzen für die Gesellschaft schaffen. Die Schlussfolgerung dieser Analyse legt nahe, das die türkische Regierung die gewährte Subventionierung zur Investitionsförderung von RETs nochmals kritisch überdenken und sich nur auf den Kapazitätsausbau von RETs konzentrieren sollte, um den unter Berücksichtigung der etablierten Methode der Kosten/Nutzen-Analyse größtmöglichen Nutzen für den Zeitraum 2015-2023 zu erzielen.

The African continent is regularly portrayed as an indolent space with a well-known reputation as a chaotic continent. Viewed as lacking vision, means and capacities, Africa is perceived at best as a place that is marked by a permanent status quo, stagnation, or in worst case scenarios, as a declining continent. Various references to the continent are synonymous with famine, poverty, war, etc. Such portrayals are all the more intriguing given that the continent is known for its abundant natural resources, such as timber, oil, natural gas, minerals, etc., whose reserves are, moreover, not well known both by the African people and their leaders. As a result, there is still much progress to be made in tapping into the resources in order to improve the daily lives of African citizens. In such a context dominated by infantile carelessness throughout the continent, the interventions of actors from outside the continent are the only hopes of bringing some vitality to this continent which is cloaked in "la grande nuit – the great darkness" (Mbembé 2013). Thus during the main sequences of recent history, representing different forms of Western penetration and activity on the African continent (slavery, imperialism, colonization), all the Western world's contributions have obviously not sufficed to boost Africa and take it out of its never ending childhood. It has remained just as passive and apathetic today as it was yesterday. The attraction of Asian actors to the continent is even more recent. And consistent with its abovementioned indolence, Africa is seen as an easy and defenceless prey for the Korean, Japanese, Indian, Malaysian, or Chinese conquerors. In the latter case, the insatiable appetite for natural resources whose reserves are being rapidly depleted is the cornerstone of their foreign aid policy. This led China to colonize the continent, showing a preference for Pariah Regimes which held no appeal for the West, by sending an army of workers to extract those resources (Lum et al. 2009), in defiance of all national and international regulations and based on completely opaque contracts. Although the concept of African Agency was rapidly developed in several African countries, the aim of this study was more specific to Cameroon's mining sector in which different entrepreneurs from abroad got involved over time. The thesis investigates whether indigenous citizens took part in any way in the development of mining projects in the country. Thus, the work assesses and analyses actions and reactions initiated and undertaken by local people in the context of China's presence within Cameroon's mining sector to promote and advance their interests over those of foreign investors. In addition, the author has no knowledge of any other study investigating African Agency in the mining sector as a whole in Cameroon. In conducting this study, a multi-method research framework was developed including a series of methods used to collect data and analyse concepts of African Agency associated Political Ecology as they developed within Cameroon's mining sector. Specifically, those methods comprised quantitative research when it came to collecting data using a positivist and empirical approach constructed by deducing evidence from statistical data collected by means of the 167 questionnaire surveys administered to local inhabitants and workers randomly selected on mining sites and in riparian communities. The questionnaires helped to capture Cameroonians' perceptions of the recent phenomenon of the gradual but significant influx of international actors and precisely Chinese players in the mining sector on the one hand, and on the other hand, observational data was collected across the GVC as developed in the Betare-Oya region. As a complement to the former technique, qualitative methods helped to study and deepen understanding of human behaviour and the social world in a holistic perspective through individual interviews, focus groups, and direct observations on the ground. In addition, the spatial analysis method based on the land use classification technique served to detect changes to land use/land cover that have been brought on by mechanised mining activities undertaken in this region. The sequencing of data collected and their processing from a ground theory perspective led to the formulation and specification of Cameroon's Ecological Agency theory. One of the earliest steps of this work consisted in a literature review and in placing the African Agency concept in a broader context. It then led to the state of the art, specifications about research content of the work and the main theories undergirding this thesis. Before examining developments that emerged during the last decade, a historical perspective was provided to the topic in order to show how African societies started mining operations and how they dealt with foreign partners interested in their mining resources. The aim was to show that while Western imperialism presented a challenge for the sector, it did not erase local participation, even despite the constraints associated with such involvement. . ; Afrika wird regelmäßig träge oder als chaotischer Kontinent dargestellt. Daraus resultiert, dass noch viel in die Untersuchung der Ressourcen investiert werden muss, um den Alltag der afrikanischen Bevölkerung zu verbessern. In diesem Kontext, der durch eine nahezu kindliche Achtlosigkeit bestimmt ist, ist die Einbindung ausländischer Akteure die einzige Hoffnung, um dem Kontinent – verhüllt in "Großer Dunkelheit" (Mbembé 2013) etwas Vitalität zu bringen. Afrika war während der jüngeren Geschichte durch verschiedene Formen westlicher Einmischungen und Aktivitäten gekennzeichnet (Sklaverei, Imperialismus, Kolonisation), jedoch hat keine dazu geführt, Afrika voranzubringen und aus der nie endenden Kindheit herauszuholen. Der Kontinent ist heute genauso passiv und apathisch wie er gestern war. Der Reiz asiatischer Akteure auf Afrika ist sehr aktuell. Und entsprechend der oben erwähnten Trägheit, wird der Kontinent als einfache und schutzlose Beute für koreanische, japanische, indische, malaysische oder chinesische Eroberer wahrgenommen. Für die Letztgenannten ist der ungesättigte Appetit nach natürlichen Ressourcen, deren Reserven sich schnell erschöpfen, der Eckpfeiler ihrer ausländischen Entwicklungspolitik. Dies führt zu einer Kolonialisierung des Kontinents durch China mit einer Präferenz für Schurkenstaaten, die für den Westen unattraktiv sind, indem sie Armeen von Arbeitern aussenden, um die Ressourcen abzubauen (Lum et al. 2009), in Missachtung aller nationalen und internationalen Regulierungen und basierend auf undurchsichtigen Verträgen. Obwohl sich das Konzept der "African Agency" in vielen afrikanischen Ländern entwickelt hat, ist das Ziel dieser Untersuchung nur auf Kameruns Minensektor ausgerichtet, in den verschiedene ausländische Unternehmen bereits über einen längeren Zeitraum eingebunden sind. In der Doktorarbeit wird untersucht, ob die indigene Bevölkerung in irgendeiner Weise Anteil an der Entwicklung von Bergbauprojekten in ihrem Land hat. Es werden Aktionen und Reaktionen der lokalen Bevölkerung im Kontext von Chinas Präsenz in Kameruns Minensektor bewertet und analysiert, um ihre Interessen über die der ausländischen Investoren zu stellen. Außerdem ist dem Autor keine weitere Studie bekannt, in der "African Agency" im Minensektor als Ganzes in Kamerun behandelt wird. Bei der Durchführung dieser Studie wurde ein Untersuchungskonzept entwickelt, in dem zahlreiche Methoden ineinander greifen hinsichtlich der Datenerfassung und Konzeptanalyse der African Agency, verknüpft mit der politischen Ökologie, die für den kamerunischen Minensektor entwickelt wurde. Durch einen positivistisch-empirischen Ansatz wurden Daten aus 167 Fragebögen abgeleitet, die von der lokalen Bevölkerung und zufällig ausgewählten Arbeitern in Minengebieten und angrenzenden Kommunen ausgefüllt wurden. Dazu wurden vorrangig Methoden zur Analyse quantitativer Daten eingesetzt. Zum einen wurden mit den Fragebögen die Erwartungen an das Phänomen eines sukzessiven aber deutlichen Einflusses durch internationale Akteure bzw. Chinas im Minensektor erfasst, zum anderen wurden Beobachtungsdaten entlang der Gold-Wertschöpfungskette (GVC), wie sie für die Betare-Oya-Region entwickelt wurde, gesammelt. Ergänzend zur dieser Technik halfen qualitative Methoden, das Verständnis über das menschliche Verhalten und der sozialen Welt aus einer ganzheitlichen Perspektive durch individuelle Interviews, Fokusgruppen und direkte Beobachtungen im Gelände zu untersuchen und verstehen. Außerdem hat die räumliche Analyse anhand einer Landnutzungsklassifizierung dazu beigetragen, Änderungen in der Landnutzung und Landbedeckung zu identifizieren, die durch mechanisch unterstützten Bergbau in der Region aufgetreten sind. Der Ablauf von Datenerhebung und ihrer Verarbeitung aus einer basis-theoretischen Perspektive führten zur Entwicklung der für Kamerun spezifischen "Ecological Agency"-Theorie. Einer der ersten Schritte dieser Arbeit bestand in einer Literaturrecherche, die unter anderem das African Agency-Konzept in den größeren Zusammenhang stellte. Dies führte zum Forschungsstand, der Festlegung des genauen Forschungsinhalts und der Haupttheorien zur Untermauerung der Doktorarbeit. Bevor die Entwicklungen der letzten Dekade untersucht wurden, bietet eine Einführung in die historische Perspektive einen Einblick darauf, wie afrikanische Gesellschaften mit dem Bergbau begannen und wie sie mit fremden Partnern umgegangen sind, die an den Ressourcen interessiert waren. Ziel war es zu zeigen, dass trotz der Herausforderungen durch den westlichen Imperialismus auf dem Sektor, dieser die lokale Beteiligung nicht verhinderte, auch hinsichtlich der Einschränkungen, die mit einer solchen Beteiligung verbunden waren. .
