; Value aspects in German lessons of the Realschule Representative paradigms and literature-didactic exemplifications Among other topics the actuality of value-aspects has in German lessons a complex field of application for educational purposes, which need a scientific-theoretical explanation as well as real classroom exemplifications. The focus in the chapters two and three is therefore on the value-term itself. Basis for discussion is Nicolai Hartmann`s publication "EthiK" from the early years of the twentieth century. His publication can even today compete with all the other modern accounts of value-systematizations because of its multifarious and clearly distinguished value-plan. In order to make the multifarious value-attitudes of young people transparent, chapter three discusses particular views on the basis of topics about concerns of society, family and school: That implies all the moments of experience correlating with the family, school and any other subordinate social groups but also with individual moments of experience, for example concerning home, policy, work, spare time and sexuality. Chapter three first of all describes and interprets in great detail the background and aims of the curriculum of the 6-form-Realschule in Bavaria. In case of need the classroom realizations on the basis of this curriculum are meant to be a basis for individual didactic teaching structures in combination with value aspects. In chapter four "Which values are nowadays important for young people?" the so far discussed aspects polarize in consideration of the "new values" of the young people. Here the focus is based on the evaluation of a questionnaire in forme of graphs. The following chapter five "What can literature lessons contribute to the mediation and reflexion of values? first discusses different functions of social valuable literature lessons and correlates it with literature as an instrument for sozialisation. This part of the publication ends with a short synoptic presentation of selected didactic positions from the second half of the 20th century about didactic aims in literature in correlation with didactic aspects of value. The mainly practical chapter six: Which methods can be used to exemplify this? first focuses on the evaluation of teaching techniques in literature lessons on the basis of didactic aspects about values. The items picked up here are the teachers lecture, teamwork, and the qualified teaching discourse, which are screened for their realization in literature lessons. The considered examples regard aspects of literary science as well as those of literary didactic. Different positions about value aspects, which seem suitable for literature lessons in an 8th form, are discussed on the basis of selected text examples from Goethe`s letter novel "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers". A literary didactic focus seems appropriate, where creative procedures are possible in combination with a practical and productive orientation. Besides the final teaching example developed on the text "Spaghetti für zwei" the centre of interest is here on the presentation of a fairy-tale project in a 5th form. It exemplifies how value-aspects are applicable in a teaching sequence by means of integration and by including other subjects.
International audience ; Today's theatre audience is rarely aware of the fact that Wedekind's Lulu was first conceived as a multilingual play. Indeed, the first version of his early masterpiece completed in 1894 under the title Die Büchse der Pandora, includes numerous and extensive passages in French and English. One of the reasons why the public as well as the critics and scholars generally ignore this fact is the complex process of censorship and self-censorship that gradually led the author to rework his play, eradicating in the same time it's multilingual dimension. While scholarly literature seldom mentions Wedekind's multilingual writing, this issue acquires a new importance in the context of current debates around world literature and migrant writing and needs to be reassessed. Thus, our paper aims at analyzing both the aesthetic and political implications of Wedekind's literary polyglossia in his historical context, and the reasons for its final disappearance. In this way, Wedekind's early multilingualism appears as a major factor of his radical modernity around 1900.

; Since several years, the Investment fund industry shows a continuing trend towards Environmental, Social and Governmental Investment funds. Investors consider qualitative characteristics besides financial aspects when choosing an investment fund. A changing world with new climate conditions and disasters created a greater public environmental awareness. Furthermore, the public awareness of social and ethical aspects is growing. Many Banks and Management Companies are launching ESG-Investment funds to follow this trend and to adapt to the changing needs and interests of investors. More than 25% of worldwide-managed assets are subject to ESG-criteria. In Europe, the share of ESG funds is even up to 53%. Yesterdays niche market is todays mass market. This study explains ESG-criteria and investment strategies in more detail. Furthermore, this study gives an overview of existing studies evaluating the effect of integrating ESG-criteria into investment decisions on the financial performance of an investment fund. Return, risk and performance of five ESG-Investment funds is compared with the results for the market, as well as matched pairs. As the European market has the highest share of investment funds subject to ESG-criteria, all selected funds have the European market as investment universe. The market is therefore the index MSCI-Europe. The index covers 85% of free-float market capitalization of Europe. Matched pairs are conventional investment funds and are assigned to one of the ESG-investment funds on basis of several characteristics. Calculations are carried out without taking account of fees. The conclusion summarizes all results, provides possible explanations, and gives an outlook for future developments. ; Kim Gabriele Fehler ; Zusammenfassungen in Deutsch und Englisch ; Abweichender Titel laut Übersetzung des Verfassers/der Verfasserin ; Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Masterarbeit, 2020 ; (VLID)4825146
Studies on the social management of HIV and AIDS have focused on how awareness about HIV and AIDS has been created through organised and interpersonal communication. These studies have not investigated context-constrained language use in the advertisements on the disease despite the wide coverage and potential effectiveness of the public sensitisation about HIV and AIDS. This study, therefore, investigated the pragmatic features of language in selected HIV and AIDS management advertisements with a view to identifying the pragmatic acts of the language. Aspects of pragmatic act theory, noted for negotiability of meaning context based interactional situations was adopted for the research. All the 25 advertisements broadcast between December 2006 and June 2009, to all African countries on both private and government-owned television stations in Nigeria by an International non-governmental agency known as 'it begins with you' (YOU) constituted the data. Fifty–four utterances were generated from the adverts and were subjected to qualitative analysis and reported in simple percentages. Six pragmatic functions manifested in the advertisements: Co-opting and Projecting were realised through inference (INF), shared situational knowledge (SSK) and relevance (REL) to bring the audience into the war against HIV/AIDS. Encouraging and Emboldening were projected through SSK and INF to motivate the audience to go for HIV test and speak openly about the virus. Instigating was done using indirect speech act to empower the female against discrimination and stigmatisation. Advising was achieved through SSK and INF to promote fidelity and safe sexual behaviour. The analysis of YOU advertisements through pragmatic act theory presupposes that pragmatic functions were exploited by the advertisers to sensitise the audience, promote social ties and project into an HIV free generation.
; One of the central subjects of political and social research is the impact of socialization during childhood and adolescence on political identity of the adult. Main issue of the current study is the often made but seldom tested assumption of impressionable years during adolescence. First question is the stability of political interest and value orientation during midlife. Second issue is the impact of latent and manifest socialization during adolescence on political interest and attitude in the age of 30. In addition is investigated, how important later made experiences are in regard of both subjects. The statistical analysis is based on a panel of former grammar school pupils in western Germany which were questioned in three survey periods over 27 years, and uses structural equation models. Both, political interest and value orientation are found stable in the investigated cohort as adults. It is shown that formative experiences during childhood and adolescence have long-term effects. Mainly responsible for the creation of value orientation is the early latent socialization whereas manifest socialization during childhood and adolescence affects political interest more than the attitude. However, it is seen that political socialization is a continuous process active also during adulthood and mainly affecting value orientation. In addition, relevant gender differences are found: women are less interested in politics than men, what supports the results of other studies, while early socialization is more relevant in female than male individuals. Furthermore, the predictive value of the independent variables is higher in the female group indicating different mechanisms of political learning. Thus, the idea of impressive years in the middle of adolescence with formative long-term impact on the political life of adults can be supported.
Editorial to the Special Issue on "Learning and Innovation Networks for Sustainable Agriculture: Processes of Co-evolution, Joint Reflection and Facilitation". There is growing recognition that the technological and organizational solutions the agricultural sector has undertaken in the past are not always compatible with the constraints and opportunities that the rural economy and society will face in the next future. This has generated an increased emphasis on transition towards new business, technological and policy models that address the challenge of sustainability. Innovation is key to transition, but the institutions that are charged with fostering innovation are often locked into old approaches and methods of intervention. The linear view of knowledge transfer as a top-down process from research to advice and practice is still predominant. Increasingly, this view is challenged and partly replaced by systems approaches in which agricultural producers are seen as important actors, rather than merely consumers of technologies that are generated by agricultural research and development and transferred by extension services for subsequent adoption. Such a systems approach has been discussed and further developed in this Journal (see e.g. the special issue 2014 (3) edited by Koutsouris and Cristovao; and Knickel et al. 2009) and in other publications, including Röling and Engel 1991; Hall et al. 2003; Sumberg and Reece 2004. The systems approach has also inspired a recent document of the EU Standing Committee of Agricultural Research (EU SCAR 2013) and many of the aspects of this approach can be found in the recent European Innovation Partnerships policy (EU Commission 2010). This special issue synthesizes the findings of the three year European funded research project SOLINSA 'Agricultural Knowledge Systems in Transition: Towards a more effective and efficient support of Learning and Innovation Networks for Sustainable Agriculture' (GA No. 266306). The special issue assembles papers that explore new ways of learning and knowledge co-production for sustainable agriculture and rural development and critically reflect the role of research and policy for supporting sustainable innovation in rural Europe. In particular, it discusses the institutional aspects of joint learning and reflection in what has been coined as Learning and Innovation Networks for Sustainable Agriculture or LINSA, and how joint learning and innovation in these LINSA has actually been supported and can be supported to further enhance sustainability.
The paper aims at considering characteristics from one field of contemporary visual studies that has for a long time been neglected in academic research: Pictorial signs on Social Network Sites (SNS) are an outstanding class of semiotic resources that is greatly shaped by processes of technological and collective sign production and distribution. A brief examination of the scholarly research on the pragmatics and semiotics of pictorial signs on SNS shows that the heterogeneity of visual signs is often neglected and that it mostly concentrates on one aspect of these pictorial signs: their technological production or their purpose for individual self-disclosure. The paper therefore considers the semiosis of pictorial signs on SNS in a holistic perspective as one the one hand produced by individual and collective meaning making as well as on the other hand a product of technological framing. It therefore develops a techno-semiotic pragmatic account that takes into consideration both processes. Starting from a prominent class of pictorial signs on SNS during Tunisian Revolution, the Tunisian Flag graphics, the paper than shows that communicative and social interaction functions on the graphic interface of SNS ('like'-function, sharing and commenting option) are not only directly inscribed into the pictorial frame, but also greatly influence the reading of a pictorial sign. The location of images on the SNS' interface has an impact on its meaning and on the social functions of a pictorial sign, as profile pictures are directly linked to the online identity of the user. Through technological sign processing, the polysemy of the image is reduced. We therefore consider the images on the one hand as individual self-narratives and on the other as instances of SNS' visual culture that brings out dominant visual codes but also allows social and political movements to spread.
(DIPF/Orig.) ; The pros and cons of the dual system of German vocational education are weighed against the far less controlled vocational education in Great Britain. The authors reveal the interests which either impede or encourage employers to offer either a training specific to the respective firm or generally applicable training and further education. Patterns of a policy of intervention and economic regulation are compared with those of a free market principle within the context of parlamentary Systems. A comparison of the British and the German development reveals the divergent preconditions of the two societies which preclude a transfer of the dual system of vocational education. (DIPF/Orig.)
