AbstractThe first book of Agamben'sHomo Sacerseries contains very few references to Heidegger. Even so, the pages that Agamben devotes to Heidegger in the third part of the book are far from a digression. They touch on a number of crucial topics that are vital to both Heidegger and Agamben, such as the relationship between philosophy and politics, the specific philosophical motivations behind Heidegger's political commitment, and life as a central philosophical theme. This article evaluates Agamben's interpretation of Heidegger in those pages by concentrating on two interrelated questions: (1) whether and to what extent Agamben's biopolitical reading of Heidegger is plausible and persuasive, and (2) how to judge the relationship between their respective accounts of life, which center around the two seminal concepts of "bare life" and "facticity."

AbstractThe aim of this article is to demonstrate that even if Popper's and Patočka's interpretations of Plato originate in philosophical and intellectual traditions that have nothing or very little to do with each other, they share a common target, that is, modern biopower, which culminated in twentieth-century totalitarianism. If we examine Popper's and Patočka's interpretations of Plato from a biopolitical angle, it is possible to view them in a new light, that is, as two different, even opposing, intellectual and philosophical approaches to the very same tragic events that European culture and politics experienced in the twentieth century. Despite the radically divergent results of their readings, Popper and Patočka share a starting point, that is, the effort to outline a genealogy of European cultural and intellectual history in the light of Plato. The first section of this article explains why and to what extent Popper's and Patočka's interpretations can be considered genealogical readings. The second section elaborates on their different approaches to the relationship between justice and power in Plato. The third section concentrates on the relationship between Plato and twentieth-century biopower.

The aim of this paper is to discuss whether and to what extent Husserl's Crisis can help us to understand the challenges of Europe's current crisis. The paper identifies both the problematic aspects of Husserl's analysis and its fruitful components. In this connection, special attention is paid to three themes: the relationship between philosophical thought and Europe's crisis, the emergence of a phenomenological philosophy of history, and the political scope of the life-world. These themes are discussed with particular reference to the connection between Husserl's philosophy of subjectivity and his conception of history.

Il presente lavoro riporta uno studio eseguito in un'area della Sicilia, quella di Prizzi, inclusa nella regione geologica dei Monti Sicani, dove è stata redatta una cartografia di rischio d'inquinamento per acquiferi ancora poco contaminati. L'intendimento è quello di superare il concetto di vulnerabilità intrinseca ove applicato alle aree carsiche e di privilegiare così il pericolo di contaminazione degli acquiferi in relazione con le minacce d'inquinamento in ambiente carsico. Sono stati, di conseguenza, raccolti gli elementi di rischio legati alla presenza nel territorio dei centri di pericolo, redigendo un database ed elaborando un gruppo di mappe di pericolo territoriale. Queste, unitamente alle altre informazioni, possono fornire un'opportunità alle Pubbliche Amministrazioni al fine di poter indirizzare precauzionalmente la localizzazione o lo spostamento di infrastrutture o di insediamenti potenzialmente inquinanti (reti fognarie, discariche, aree industriali.). L'obiettivo finale, quindi, è quello di tener conto della possibilità di accadimento di incidenti o addirittura di catastrofi idrogeologiche, consentendo l'opportuna ubicazione delle stesse fonti di approvvigionamento idrico. ; This paper resumes an experience of evaluation, in a karst inland area of Sicily, of the danger contamination of groundwater characterizing the investigated territories, trying to connect them with the potential and real occurring menaces of pollution. A protection tool is conveniently represented by territory mapping performed in GIS environment, collecting also records of contamination sources spread in the territory and through the application of special standards for the estimation of the various risk elements. The final proposal is to furnish a useful opportunity to local administrations (municipalities, provinces, regional governments) for a reliable policy and management of their territories: in fact, they can precautionarily select suitable zones to locate or also shift particular infrastructures or settlements (sewerage networks, landfills, industrial poles…), with reference to dangerous events potentially occurring close to water supply sources. In this paper, a Sicily test-site will be depicted, located in the mountainous Sicani belt, where karst aquifers show till now a relative good groundwater quality, together with a likely danger of an increasing contamination risk. In the selected zone, a mapping of territorial danger has been performed in GIS environment.

PurposeUsing AI to strengthen creativity and problem-solving capabilities of professionals involved in innovation management holds huge potential for improving organizational decision-making. However, there is a lack of research on the use of AI technologies by innovation managers. The study uses the theory of appropriation to explore how specific factors – agile leadership (AL), innovation orientation (IO) and individual creativity (IC) – impact innovation managers' use of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT (CGA).Design/methodology/approachThe research model is tested through a large-scale survey of 222 Italian innovation managers. Data have been analyzed using structural equation modeling following a two-step approach. First, the measurement model was assessed to ensure the constructs reliability. Subsequently, the structural model was analyzed to draw the conclusions on theorized model relationships and their statistical significance.FindingsThe research findings reveal positive associations between IO and IC with CGA, demonstrating that innovation managers who exhibit strong innovation orientations and higher Individual Creativity are more likely to adopt and personalize ChatGPT. However, the study did not confirm a significant association between AL and CGA.Originality/valueOur findings have important implications for organizations seeking to maximize the potential of generative AI in innovation management. Understanding the factors that drive the adoption and customization of generative AI tools can inform strategies for better integration into the innovation process, thereby leading to enhanced innovation outcomes and improved decision-making processes.
