Домінування та поширення давньогрецької і латинської мов упродовж тривалого часу від античності до початку ХХІ ст. свідчить про значний вплив класичних мов не лише на історію та культуру багатьох народів, але й на розвиток мов європейського ареалу, а також спричинено швидким розвитком різних галузей наук і, відповідно, термінологій, які обслуговують ці науки. Зокрема, юриспруденції одним із джерел проникнення класичних мов у нові західноєвропейські мови була юрисдикція та кодифікація норм права. ; Ancient Greek and Roman cultural heritage became the basis of the whole European civilization long ago. That is why it is hard to overestimate the contribution of classical languages into European languages areal. The borrowings from Greek and Latin languages constitute a considerable layer of not only Roman, but also Germanic and Slavic languages. Interlanguage contacts have formed an integral part of modern languages, and the constant exchange and interpenetration of cultures have become the need of society. In this way, the enrichment of languages is taking place.For many centuries Latin, and through its mediation the Greek language, had a dominant influence on the languages that either evolved on the basis of Latin, or had been forming during the scientific and cultural golden age of Latin. We can therefore say that social and historical processes that took place during the transformation of government system of European countries, are closely linked with the globalization of economy.Thus, the penetration of classical languages into new West European languages was different due to direct contacts of nations in different historical periods of European countries development. The domination and the spread of Greek and Latin for a long time, from antiquity to the beginning of 21st century, is the evidence of a significant impact of classical languages not only on the history and culture of many nations, but also the development of languages of the European areal; it is due to the rapid development of various science branches and, therefore, terminologies, which serve these sciences. In particular, in legal studies one of the sources of classical languages penetration into new Western European languages was the jurisdiction and codification of law standards.
