Modern Capitalism: Factors of Transformation ;
The article presents an overview of the concepts that record significant changes in modern capitalism. The review is based on the concept of the "rent society" by Russian authors from Yekaterinburg (L. Fishman, V. Martyanov, D. Davydov). According to the author, the transformations of modern capitalism do lead to the formation of a rent society, but the factors acting in this direction are not always unconditional (i.e. they operate everywhere in the world). The first factor in the transformation of capitalism, according to the author of the article, is the ratio between the return on capital and economic growth analyzed by the French economist T. Piketty. As Piketty showed, today in developed countries this ratio is again built in favor of the return on capital, which leads to the formation of a new property capitalism in developed countries. The second factor is the formation of a political regime that promotes the accumulation of capital. This political regime in the developed countries has become neoliberalism. As the sociologist I. Wallerstein showed in his works, the transition to neoliberal globalization was associated with the crisis of the world system, with the fact that, in the last third of the 20th century, capitalism suddenly became "unprofitable" for capitalists. Finally, the third factor is the Fourth Industrial Revolution and automation. As many authors note in their works, automation of production carries a deep threat to capitalism, since it leads to unemployment and reduces mass demand. The article also considers the objections of some authors to the concept of the crisis of the world system and automation. In the last part of the article, the opinions of some Russian authors on the concept of basic income, which should form the main insurance mechanism in the conditions of the emerging rental society, are briefly considered.

FORMATION OF THE CONCEPT OF "CAPITALISM» ; ФОРМИРОВАНИЕ ПОНЯТИЯ «КАПИТАЛИЗМ»
The article presents a historical and philosophical reconstruction of the development of the concept of "capitalism" in the 19th - early 20th centuries. The text describes the main stages of conceptualization of the notion starting from when it was first mentioned in the political literature of France and Germany and finishing with its introduction in everyday practice as a sustainable term. An emphasis is made on identifying the content aspects of the term in the context of ideological and theoretical preferences of the era. It is also important that in its discursive and semantic characteristics the notion and the concept of "capitalism" follows the Christian cultural paradigm.

Jodi Dean's Concept of Communicative Capitalism ;
In this article, the author researches and analyzes the main provisions of the theory of communicative capitalism of the American philosopher Jodi Dean. He shows the genesis of this concept and its theoretical foundations. The main provisions of the theory, its characteristics and key features are presented. The article examines how the concept of communicative capitalism is based on the research of Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri, on the definition of the immaterial labor of Maurizio Lazzarato, the concept of post-politics of Slavoj Zizek, and shows the relationship with other studies and concepts. It is showh how they relate to the contemporary social and philosophical discourse on "digital capitalism". The research is divided into the study of the communicational and capitalist components of the concept. Within the analysis of communication, the concept of "fantasy", which is important for the theory, is identified and researched, and also its work in communication networks. The concept is divided into the fantasy of abundance, participation and integrity. The analysis of capitalism characteristics shows how inequality, exclusion, exploitation and competition in communicative capitalism work. From the author's point of view, Jodi Dean and her concept of communicative capitalism are still relevant and applicable to understanding and analyzing certain phenomena of the current political, social, economic, and cultural situation.

The Future of Capitalism in the Human Dimension ;
The paper is dedicated to the critique of capitalism from the viewpoint of humanistic values. Prominent social philosopher, Rector of Moscow University for the Humanities I. M. Ilinsky discusses the evils of the capitalist civilisation, the main of which he sees in the lack of spirituality and unconditional orientation to maximize profits. Therefore, capitalism lacks the principal thing – care for human, for human capital. The combination of capitalism and democracy in the second half of the 20th century was temporary and was largely stipulated by the threat form the Socialist Bloc. In the last few decades (from the 1980s) western capitalism has broken free from this threat, and in this connection, it is beginning to actively "free itself" from democracy in its inherent values. All this has clearly manifested itself in the processes of globalisation. The author considers the evils of globalisation and its inherent trend towards universalisation and standardisation. According to I. M. Ilinsky, modern Russia is capable of going a different way than modern capitalism, focusing on social development, culture, and education. The paper was published more than 20 years ago; however, we are publishing it again since it retains its relevance.

Platform Capitalism, Exploitation and Inequality. Часть I
The article discusses the key social and ethical issues associated with the development of the digital economy, or rather, such a segment of it as the activity of Internet platforms. The first part of the article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of big data, monopolism, and the formation of inequality due to a new form of capitalism – surveillance capitalism. The problem with big data is that companies using users' data as their main resource thrive; at the same time, as many authors show, the platform business itself leads to the destruction of many areas of the economy, which hurts the positions of the middle class (along with automation). Besides, data by its origin is a collective product, whereas companies actually privatize them. Therefore, the task is to somehow regulate the interaction of platforms and society in this matter. As for monopolism, this is a broader problem for (primarily) the American economy. The monopolization associated with Internet platforms is largely dictated by the very nature of this type of business (network effects). However, monopolization leads to many negative effects, in particular, causing great social inequality. The article examines the negative economic and political effects of the monopolism of new Internet companies. It is concluded that it is necessary to change the general paradigm of companies' activities in the modern economy — to move from rent-oriented behavior to productive one. It is also necessary to change the relationship between new companies and the state, which should be considered as the most important source of many public goods. The author considers the formation of a new type of inequality and violation of democratic norms with regard to the formation of surveillance capitalism.

On the way to «conscious» capitalism: From Marx to modernity
The article provides a scientific overview of the evolution of views on the capitalist development from Marx to our days through the prism of the need of social transformations, changes in the value, moral and ethical foundations of the modern capitalism. I consider the basic models of transition to the so-called «conscious» capitalism: stakeholder model, model of corporate social responsibility, model of democratization of property relations (the model of shared capitalism), and directly the model of «conscious» capitalism. The article highlights the relevance of transition from the primacy of proprietary thinking, the desire of owners to maximize shareholder value and increase their welfare to the stakeholder model, which takes into account the interests of a wide range of stakeholders. The trust can be appropriately considered as a condition for implementing the stakeholder model, which provides an opportunity for the development of civilized, socially-oriented relations in business and the economy as a whole. The model of corporate social responsibility contributes to the implementation of common values and its significance for a new stage in the evolution of capitalism. I compare the approaches to the democratization of property relations and shared capitalism on the example of foreign and Russian experience. I conclude that the introduction of the principles of conscious capitalism is not yet a generally accepted practice, which is explained in many ways by different levels of capitalist development. At the same time, the importance of influencing the business model of «conscious» capitalism forces modern capitalists to rethink market opportunities, to transform traditional capitalist values to the concept of common values and to use additional benefits to increase the sustainability of society. © 2018 Economy of Region. All rights reserved.

Contemporary Russian capitalism: sociological, political-economic and anthropological aspects ;
The article presents a comprehensive socio-philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of contemporary capitalism in Russia. We suggest that it should be studied from three interrelated points of view — respectively, sociological, political-economic and anthropological. A special focus is made on the links between Russian capitalism and the challenges of globalization. As we show in the article, from a sociological point of view the Russian version of capitalism can be described as a clan system, where relationships are founded on personal (informal) relations rather than on competition (unlike the "regular" capitalist system). In its turn, the clan system is a form of carrying on economic activity. The rise of the cronyist clans is due to the phenomenon of power-property and its manifestations in modern Russia. At the same time, the current absolute domination of the state bureaucracy and the weakness of the legal principles in contemporary Russian society can be explained from either a historicist or a characterological standpoint. We suggest that the key reason for this lies is the weakness of schizoid (autistic) characterological radical (type of character) in the national character of Russian. On the contrary, the peoples of East and Southeast Asia, who have been demonstrating a truly phenomenal success of capitalist development since about the 1960s, are known for a marked presence of this radical in their national character. The ensuing pragmatism has permeated all the elements of the Asian "economic miracle", from the strict adherence to the rules of social and economic life to painstaking routine work.
