The aim of this document is to explore the construct of ecological rationality, highlighting the role of animals and plants in religious and organizational animist traits, in the traditional celebrations of the yoreme mayo ethnic group in southern Sonora. The eminently qualitative method examines such a construct in its expression as tropes, which are used in the communicative interaction that takes place in celebrations of this ethnic group. In this qualitative approach, a series of interviews were conducted with the main actors of such ceremonies. The results indicate that rationality, which emerged as sustenance in the ancestral vision of this social group, was intertwined between nature and religious mysticism, to the point of considering it as its own. The animals, plants, the river and its built utensils are used for their communicative interaction, revealed in the form of tropes in their stories and the lyrics of their songs, which serve as scaffolding in their ceremonial acts. Thus, the animist manifestations between prayers, musicians, dancers, and the entire brotherhood, expose an ecological rationality that brings them together, transcending even everyday rationality.
Decisión theory has become an indispensable tool in economics, psychology, political science, sociology and philosophy. However, in spite of its pervasive influence, it is not yet well known among social scientist. In this paper, I present the basics of decisión theory first of all. Then, after explaining the use of some decisión criteria under uncertainty, I discuss the normative properties and the limits of the subjetive expected utility theory (SEU). The limits of SEU models lead US to explore ntw approaches in decisión theory based on Herbert Simon's concept of bounded rationality, such as adaptive decision-maker models and the theory of ecological rationality. ; Peer reviewed
Decisión theory has become an indispensable tool in economics, psychology, political science, sociology and philosophy. The aim of my paper is to analyse Aldous Huxley's utopian novel Island (1962) comparing it to the ideas expounded in his essays Science, Liberty and Peace (1946) The Human Situation (1959), The Politics of Ecology-The Question of Survival (1963) and An Encyclopaedia of Pacifism (1972). As we shall see, Huxley, in accordance with the "green movement" of the seventies and eighties (S.F. Schumacher, 1974; H. Daly, 1977; D.W. Pearce, R.K. Turner, 1990) discusses several important issues that are still, today, at the very core of the environmental debate. Aldous Huxley is an interesting example of an intellectual who managed to unite the two cultures, scientific and humanistic, and who dedicated his life to the search of new perspectives and yet unexplored horizons. His motto "I keep learning" brilliantly exemplifies his lucidly critical attitude towards the reality surrounding him and his observation of nature. His critical thought is, as we shall see, a complex combination of rationality and creativity, of scepticism and mysticism that finds its synthesis in the philosophical principle of being "realistically idealist". In this sense the Utopian island of Pala in Island positions itself as the symbol of Huxley's spiritual and cultural research, because in it he strives to combine and harmonise the results of natural science and cultural technology with eastern thought. In this work he prospects a new model for civilisation in which mysticism and rationalism manage to blend. In Island he criticises progress as the cause of consumerism and the exploitation of nature, and traditional science and medicine as having been slaves of capitalistic society, politics for its cynicism, as well as for having manipulated and conditioned people; he then concludes by hypothesising a society where a perfect balance between the mind and the body, nature and man exists. The Human Situation (1959), The Politics of Ecology-The Question of Survival (1963) and An Encyclopaedia of Pacifism (1972).
The problem of natural resource exploitation and distribution and the implications it brings, is a complex problem, its causes are diverse and their solution apart from being a technical difficulty, is also political decision. Private growth is conceived as an end in itself and politics whose center and end the life of the human being underestimated. The ecological imbalance is the result of human action, the product of anti-ecological consciousness that favors having over being, promoting consumer lifestyle, which leads man to produce and consume, where the highest values are the laws of market, whose demands are detrimental to nature and the resources it provides .The logic of growth that has supported the production model is the one that obeys the maximization of profits with cost reduction, leading to exploit the land and its resources without saving rationality at the expense of ecological balance and the same human being to be the subject and purpose of economic activity. Economía y Administración (E&A) Vol.5(2) 2014; 91-104
; The contributions of Franz Hinkelammert, both in the field of Political Philosophy and in that of Economics, serveas inspiration and give ethical, theoretical and methodological basis for many schools of thought critical of the hegemonic Economy. His latest productions, written with Henry Mora, develop the idea of "an economy oriented towards life". This paper attempts to review some of its fundamental concepts, on which interesting links can be found with the Ecological Economics as well as some discrepancies through which, instead of distancing themselves, they collaborate enriching the principles of this current.
This paper is intended to open a sociological inquiry on a crucial problem for the future of humankind: its capacity to respond to the global ecological risk. Starting with a critical overview on the possibilities of a "reflexive modernity" based on science and expert knowledge to slow down, stop and revert the current trends of climate change towards the planet's entropic death, an inquiry is opened on the social imagery of sustainability embodied in traditional peoples, on their capacity to respond from their local cultural identities, mobilizing new social actors and leading to an environmental democracy from the ecological and cultural conditions instituted in the social imagery and the life worlds of the people that inhabit the living planet.
Actuality, the crisis of occidental rationality and the crisis of the capitalist production model has raised new problems such as the ecological crisis, the political crisis and in general social and moral crisis in modern society. It is necessary to return to, to rethink the Marx's criticism of the capitalist production mode. In this paper, it analyzes two relevant categories for the understanding the most important work of Marx: the Kapital. These two categories are the concept of 'rationality' and the 'criticism'. In the first part I analyze the three positions of reason versus objectivity. In this part, it argues that Marx assumes the third positioning of reason versus objectivity which is the way of proceeding of reason in the sense of Hegel. In this sense, there is a continuity and not a break respect to Hegel's epistemological proposal. In the second part, it presents how Marx develops and articulates the economic categories of Capital assuming the way of proceeding of dialectical reason in the Hegelian sense. In the third part, I show the criticism in a positive sense respect to Hegel directed at Marx's criticism of classical political economy in its starting point and his relation to how he articulates his economic categories. Finally, in the last part I show Marx's break with Hegel arguing that the negative effects of greed reach the 'rational' state.
The dialogue of knowledge/savoirs, is thought in this context in its ontological character –beyond a trans-disciplinary approach or method–, as the concept of a new political philosophy of history that deconstructs transcendental idealism (from Kant, Hegel and Husserl) and Marx's historic dialectic, opening history to the conflictive encounter among different rationalities and cultural beings, that guide strategically and through a political ethic of life, the construction of a sustainable future: in the immanence and under the thermodynamic-ecological and symbolic-cultural conditions of life.
Law is not justice, says the Manifesto for Life. The justice system established in modernity (the legality of a positive law) does not manage to contain the will to dominate exercised by the ontological regime of modernity over the degradation of life and to adjust human behavior within the conditions of life. Environmental justice transcends the order of the economy (even of the ecological economy) as a mechanism of the social distribution of human justice of environmental goods and services of nature, to institute another idea of fairness under the principles of human dignity and in the immanence of life. Environmental justice seeks to establish a criterion of fairness for the construction of other possible worlds based on the principles that sustain the disjunctive category of environmental rationality: an ontology of the diversity of life, a politics of difference, and ethics of otherness.
Over the past 70 years, the development as a powerful-idea spread out the hegemony of capitalism, promoting the production and reproduction of their logic in multiple dimensions. It hides the process of domination, exploitation and conflict, which is necessary for the imposition of the development on Western stile. It was conceptualized under the sign of freedom of choice, the social inclusion in the global world and the access to welfare by consumption. However, alternative experiences to the capitalism emerge within the system, where the concept of coloniality of power identifies the dimensions that are part of the process of domination, exploitation and conflict for the economic development itself, and admits to explore how actors adapt these dimensions from the practice, reverse them or overcome them. In this framework we will investigate the production process of organization and interaction in two agro-ecological cooperatives in Chaco. The specific experiences, analyzed in a qualitative exploratory research with ethnographically-anchor, show logical alternatives to the capitalist ones in some dimensions, but also similar in others. Nature does not seem to be a production factor, and the human being is part of it. The environment is mixed with politics, and the expert-scientific knowledge intersects with peasant-indigenous knowledge in the production. The fact of inserting in the market and the price definition carries with the capitalists "rationality". The modern-capitalist logics mix with others, and are built and redefined. Its importance lies in that they allow to look from a different place to modernity and demand a different understanding within the social sciences

Western modern thought represented, for the peoples of the south, a cultural, political, and social hegemony, the product of the installation of instrumental rationality in our societies, over and above the different millenary knowledge and expressions of proven fertility, invisibilizing, marginalizing and excluding the different cognitive perspectives of non-Western cultures. From this framework of ideas, this research, aims to analyze the decolonization of knowledge, beingand power to consolidate a transformative and emancipatory project from university education. The methodological approach is inserted in the qualitative tradition, specifically from the philosophical hermeneutics. The most representative conclusion of the same one, takes us to recognize the vital thing that it implies for the towns of the south, to develop a decolonial university educational thought as ethical, political, ecological project from the interculturality other.
Since the last century, environmental problems have been part of the discus-sion spaces of environmental groups and various social movements. However, in our time, the ecological perspective is not enough to examine the existing ontological interrelation between man and nature, since it is evident that the crisis and environmental deterioration are determined by an economic, political and epistemological model, based on modern Eurocentric rationality, which rei-fies nature, denying it all kinds of rights. Modernity opens up the coloniality of nature; he sees in it a useful instrument for exploitation and social advancement, leaving behind the ancestral vision, the feeling of the land and the need for good living as necessary for genuine sustainable development. For this reason, the article analyzes the categories of coloniality of nature, sustainable ...
