This paper describes the development and successful pilot of rotational placements by the social work faculty of a large Canadian university. Modifications required for the pilot are discussed, particularly related to recruiting settings, enlisting field instructors and students, developing new field materials, training field instructors in the model and developing an evaluation tool used by field instructors and students. The strengths, limitations and lessons learned from the experience are discussed as well as the potential usefulness of rotational placements as an approach to addressing resource challenges in field education.

Little research attention has been given to exploring manifestations of sexuality in social work field placement. Based on a thematic analysis of 17 semi-structured interviews with Israeli social work students, this study gives empirical depth to our understanding of the ways in which sexuality, as a concept, emerges in interactions between social work students on field placements and service users. The analysis identified seven issues and four emotional reactions that commonly manifested in these discussions and encounters. The findings expand the existing theoretical discussion regarding the notion of 'everyday sexuality' in social work settings.

English Twenty-one US social work programs with international placements were surveyed to assess: information about participating students; screening processes; student preparations; and supervision. Four models of international placements were identified: independent, neighbor, on-site and exchange. The information is provided to assist programs in developing international placements. Quatre modèles des stages internationaux ont été identifiés: indépendant, voisinant, sur place et échange. Des informations sont fournies pour aider dans le développant des stages internationaux. Spanish Se encuestaron veintiún programas de trabajo social en Estados Unidos dotados con colocaciones internacionales para las prácticas de campo. Se evaluó: 1) la información acerca de los estudiantes participantes, 2) el proceso de selección, 3) la preparación de los estudiantes, y 4) la supervisión. Se identificaron cuatro modelos de colocación internacional: independiente, vecino, doméstico (on-site) y de intercambio. La información se dirige a asistir en el desarrollo de colocaciones de prácticas internacionales.

The impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on social work practice placements around the world and in the United Arab Emirates is of concern to students, social work educators and service users. In this practice note, I focus on the impact of the interruption to social work practice learning for students at the United Arab Emirates University and reflect on the introduction of 'social distancing', a health and safety strategy aimed at reducing the likelihood of the spread of the coronavirus. I propose ways in which students in school placements can continue to develop their social work knowledge and skills 'from a distance' and while physically absent from their practice learning settings
