Maisto pramonės konkurencingumo didinimo galimybių vertinimas ; Evaluation of opportunities to develop competitiveness amongst food industry businesses

Abstract

The reason of current competitiveness evaluation study importance is mostly caused by economic downturn which is extremely dangerous to parties that lack particular competitive advantages. Lithuanian milk production sector has the biggest part in food industry. In order to keep current position among the other sectors - an increase of competitiveness could be a strategic target of top importance. Enhancement could be reached by identifying factors of competitiveness. If factors are evaluated and taken in to account accordingly – milk production sector will recover from economic downturn much faster. The study identified main factors of milk production sector competitiveness: inner type- demand conditions, company image and production factors; outer type– Impact of Government activity and social/cultural factors; The biggest negative impact has lack of companies image in international markets, lack of natural resources, complexity of new business, and crediting conditions. Same time following factors have positive impact: sensitiveness to customer requirements; enhanced infrastructure and communications, increase in customers purchasing power, high level of competition in inner and outer markets, strict environmental regulations.
