Abstract

The history of the growth of a new peasant intelligentsia in France in the 1950s and 1960s puis an interesting light on one aspect of the genesis of ideologies : how do they become political ? In this case, the process took place in three stages : the time of the missionaries, when the middle modernized peasantry acquired the first economie elements of ils view of the world; the time of the militants, when the action of the CNJA (National Center of Young Farmers) suceeded in getting the representation of the middle peasantry to be part of agriculture's general interest; and the time of the politicians, when the new ideology became agricultural policy.
