International audience ; The Great Housing Mission Venezuela (Gran Mision Vivienda Venezuela or GMVV) was created in 2011 in a country that has been in constant change since 1999 after the arrival of President Hugo Chavez to the power and which is still experiencing a situation of generalized crisis 21 years later. This program proposes the massive and fast construction of houses mainly destined for families affected by a succession of climatic events. The article studies the transformation of the territory produced by the GMVV which goes beyond the traditional framework of city policies. I will analyze the purpose assigned to architecture and urban planning, the role of the image produced in this context, and the stance of the inhabitants in front of their new living environment. The GMVV, strongly supported by the government's official visual communication, combined with other, will be analyzed as a resilience factor for its beneficiaries facing a trauma that reveals the vulnerability of the territory and its inhabitants. ABSTRACTThe impact of American values on social policy for and affecting older people is a little explored and complex area. A conceptual framework is developed which reveals the dual and often contradictory nature of the American value system. This framework sets forth the interrelationships of fundamental value‐laden issues such as adequacy/equity, work/leisure and religious/secular.

Abstract
The main aims of this article are: a presentation of the theoretical framework for the analysis of the social pacts policy (taking into consideration that social pacts are phenomena which are very difficult to clearly define) and the presentation of the practice of this policy in chosen European countries (including three cases of "using" social pacts for the shaping of public policy, taking into consideration the fact that the form and content of social pacts vary from country to country). Social pacts are very special kinds of agreements between the representatives of the state and the interest groups. They can include various issues of social and economic policies, but they can also be used for solving economic difficulties and sustaining progress, including the development of the state. Social Pacts Policy is useful for a weak state and interest groups, which as a result of it can have an influence on public policy. Although, its application is not a facile process of agreement between the state and the social partners, it can have various forms and can include different goals of social and economic policies. Similarly, the range, institutionalisation and length of social pacts are not the same in all countries. Moreover, as the article indicates it refers to the economic, cultural and social circumstances, which can also cause the disappearance of the social pacts mechanism.

The principles of the 3Rs—replacement, refinement, and reduction—strongly shape discussion of methods for performing more humane animal research and the regulation of this contested area of technoscience. This special issue looks back to the origins of the 3Rs principles through five papers that explore how it is enacted and challenged in practice and that develop critical considerations about its future. Three themes connect the papers in this special issue. These are (1) the multiplicity of roles enacted by those who use and care for animals in research, (2) the distribution of "feelings that matter" across species and spaces of laboratory animal practice, and (3) the growing importance of "cultures of care" in animal research.

Emerging adults experience frequent life transitions that disrupt social groups and increase loneliness. However, limited research examines how emerging adults respond to social group disruptions. Drawing upon the Social Identity Model of Identity Change (SIMIC), this study explored 11 emerging adults' experiences of managing social group disruptions. Using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), we identified seven themes that helped participants mitigate loneliness after experiencing social group disruptions. Themes included: (a) engaging with existing social groups, (b) proactively forming new relationships, (c) using technology, (d) becoming more selective about forming and maintaining friendships, (e) increasing acceptance and positive thinking, (f) engaging in meaningful activities, and (g) focusing on self-development. The results call for further research on how emerging adults can effectively manage social group disruptions to mitigate loneliness.

Main objective of the article is to investigate traits of the institutional process in social politics of the European countries, which compiled an advanced experience in this aspect. Relevance of the study is accounted by the fact that for the first time in the Ukrainian scientific literature the complex research is used as to the essence of social politics concepts and institutional formations on the basis of foreign historiography providing the institutional analysis broadening. Such an approach contributes to perception of social politics as a public institution, which formation and development are predetermined by the public relations whole system functioning, which enables to evaluate a social politics as a complex, multilateral evolutional system. Given research is based on such methods as analysis, synthesis, deduction, modeling, as well as on evolutional, comparative, and system approaches. The main results of the study include the following conclusions. Firstly, it is stated that the achievements of the modern civilization development strategy stimulate social progress, which is to be provided by a certain legislation to guarantee human rights. Social politics of the EU is worked out and realized on two levels – all-union and within the framework of national states. That's why the article uses such terms as "social politics of EU" and "national social politics of a certain country". Rather significant is the concept of universalism dealing with distribution of resources among all members of a society and been interpreted as a fundamental principle of social politics. An accent is made on marginal and institutional aspects in the field of social politics. It should be especially noted that the workers social rights institutionalization was a turning point in determining their citizenship and socialization. Social rights got by the workers, became an important factor of the society modernization, in which both men and women got rid off a routine and paternalistic social order.

Around the world, many ambitious environmental conventions and regulations have been implemented over recent decades. Despite this, the environment is still deteriorating. An increase in the volume and diversity of chemicals is one of the main drivers of this deterioration, of which biodiversity loss is a telling indicator. In response to this situation, in October 2020, a chemicals strategy for sustainability (CSS) was published in the EU. The CSS is the first regional framework aiming to address chemical pollution in a holistic manner. The CSS covers the complete lifecycle of a chemical, including the design of better substances and remediation options, to remove chemicals from the environment. The strategy contains terms, such as a "toxic‐free environment," for which no clear definition exists, potentially hampering the implementation of the CSS. In this paper, a definition for a "toxic‐free environment" is proposed on the basis of a survey and a discussion held at the 2020 SETAC Europe Annual Meeting. In addition, key issues that are absent from the CSS but are considered to be key for the realization of a toxic‐free environment are identified. To achieve the policy goals, it is recommended to align the definition of risk across the different chemical legislations, to establish a platform for open data and data sharing, and to increase the utility and use of novel scientific findings in policymaking, through the development of a strong science to regulation feedback mechanism and vice versa. The paper concludes that environmental scientists have the tools to address the key challenges presented in the CSS. However, an extra step is needed by both policymakers and scientists to develop methods, processes and tools, to increase the robustness and transparency of deliberation processes, and the utility of science.
