The study of mental models and creative thinking skills in students' physics learning with the problem-based learning model has been scarce. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between mental models and creative thinking skills in high school students. Many previous research findings explain a relationship between mental models and creative thinking skills among students at the university level and workers. This mixed-methods study was conducted on high school students in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, aged between 14 and 15 years. The instrument used is in the form of mental models and creative thinking skills test questions. This finding explains no relationship between mental models and creative thinking skills because learning has not fully empowered mental models and creative thinking skills. On the other hand, learning at the previous level, students' knowledge is still fragmented, so that is incomplete. Therefore, at the high school level, they need help to improve their mental models and creative thinking skills. This finding implies that teachers in developing learning materials, tools, and instruments must pay attention to the level of student knowledge so that learning can be more optimal.

This study aims to comprehensively describe the endogamous marriages of the Prophet Muhammad's descendants from the perspective of the sociology of Islamic law. The marriage mainly occurs in syarīfah (the female descendants); they are required to marry the prospectives from ḥabīb (male descendants) groups only. Endogamous marriage will be explored holistically by clarifying the reciprocal relationship between social change and Islamic law among syarīfah. This field research examines the enactment of the law in social life. It used a sociological Islamic law approach to reveal the facts about endogamous marriage in Bangil, East Java, Indonesia, because many of the Prophet's descendants live there. Data collection techniques were interviews and literature search, while the analysis technique used is Miles and Hubermen's analytical procedure. After conducting in-depth research, a conclusion was found that endogamous marriage among syarīfah in Bangil is a form of obedience to customs passed down across generations since their ancestors, namely the tradition of marrying someone of equal lineage. Endogamous marriages have been maintained to this day due to religious teachings, the spirit of protecting the Prophet's family, and the social conditions of those who support its preservation.

The report focuses on sectoral choice as one of the contributors to the gender gap in firm performance. It explores the difference in profits among female entrepreneurs who cross over into male-dominated sectors (MDS) compared to those who remain in traditionally female-concentrated sectors (FCS). The report provides a snapshot of the factors associated with being a female entrepreneur who crosses over to MDS, including the most salient cross-country ones that are associated with breaking into and surviving in these sectors. Based on this analysis, it offers evidence-based programs and policies which can support women to cross over into more profitable sectors and contribute to their business performance more generally. The studies in this report were conducted across three regions and in ten countries (Sub-Saharan Africa: Botswana, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Guinea, in Latin America and the Caribbean: Peru and Mexico, and in East Asia and Pacific: Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR), Vietnam, and Indonesia). The report also draws from the findings of the global multi-country future of business survey of entrepreneurs carried out through a social media platform.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the government provided assistance distributed through each sub-district throughout the province of Indonesia, one of which was the Pahlawan Village in the East Siantar District Pematangsiantar City. So far, the assistance provided by Kelurahan Pahlawan is still done manually, so errors in data collection and distribution of aid may occur. To overcome this problem, a study was carried out by applying the K-Means algorithm to determine the eligibility cluster of Covid-19 beneficiaries, which was carried out by collecting population data according to predetermined attributes. Then the population data will be clustered using the K-Means algorithm and tested using the Rapid Miner application. The clustering results obtained are that cluster 0 consists of 26 data and that cluster 1 consists of 24 data. The recipients of Covid-19 social assistance using the K-Means algorithm show that those entitled to receive the gift are the elderly (elderly). Based on this, it can be concluded that the K-Means Algorithm can be applied to produce more practical information in determining who is entitled to receive assistance

Reflecting on PISA and TIMSS, international mathematical, reading, and science literacy assessments, the Indonesian government began implementing the Minimum Competency Assessment (MCA) for primary, secondary, and high school students. MCA demands the ability to solve daily life problems, one of which is geometry problems that require spatial ability. This research focused on describing spatial thinking ability used in numeracy competencies on geometry content. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Thirty junior high school students in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, took the MCA preparation test and assessed their spatial thinking skills. The research was conducted in three stages: preparation, implementation, and analysis, and showed that three aspects of spatial ability, namely visualization, orientation, and relations, had not yet fully emerged. Some students cannot arrange the expected pattern. There are even students who ignore the geometric shapes requested. Students simplify drawing a hexagon with a quadrilateral, which are two different geometric objects, which leads to fatal errors. This study suggests that teachers emphasize learning mathematics that can train students' spatial thinking skills because it can lead to better mathematical understanding and performance.

The increasing maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia in the last two decades has become a serious concern for the government. Moreover, Jember Regency is one of the areas with the highest MMR in East Java. Where in 2018 the AKI of Jember Regency was ranked 10th with an AKI of 114/100,000 KH and was the 5th highest rank in 2019 with 133.4/100,000 KH. The process of recording pregnancy data that is still done manually can also affect the AKI process because it can slow down the decision-making process for pregnant women who are at risk. In this study, the focus is on creating a recording system for pregnant women according to cohort data and equipped with features to support pregnancy risk classification according to the KSPR standard. So that it is expected to provide an early decision on the risk of pregnancy to related parties. The results of the system trial show that the k-NN system developed is able to help the computational process faster by complementing the classification results with an accuracy rate of up to 80%.

Studies on the unreadiness of educational stakeholders to face the abrupt requirement of online learning amidst the pandemic were usually conducted among the urban participants with highly available access to the internet and well-developed online social habit. Such population tend to fall into Westernized, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic (WEIRD) bias population, even in Asian countries. Therefore, their results tend to report problems faced by the aforementioned population. In this current study, we attempt to fill in the population gap by exploring the transformational leadership among school principals in rural area of Malang, East Java, Indonesia. There were five leaders of schools' setup by different religious affiliations in the community interviewed. After the thematic analyses, the results confirmed that the online learning policy exposed our participants to different problems from the ones faced by the urban population, and therefore they have taken different measures in order to sustain their educational services. Actions such as interschool collaborations, interschool students grouping, and interschool teacher-sharing were introduced to us by these rural school principals, along with the spirit of unity in their diversity. Further exploration and suggestions are discussed in the article.

Nurses are on the frontline fighting COVID-19, as they are caring for patients during the days and nights they spend at the hospital. The purpose of this study is to determine the direct impact of job satisfaction on motivation, commitment, and performance of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the roles of work motivation and employee commitment on nurse performance are also tested. The population in this study is nurses at the State Regional Hospital in Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia, totaling 161 nurses. The sample in this study is 62 respondents. The analysis technique used in this study is path analysis. The results show that job satisfaction has a significant role to foster motivation, commitment, and performance of nurses in the hospital. Furthermore, employee commitment and work motivation are also proved to affect nurse performance. The results provide a better understanding of the approaches that can be taken to maintain nurse performance, especially during a pandemic.

One of the important justifications for the development of the Sustainable Food House Area or in Indonesia called Kawasan Rumah Pangan Lestari (KRPL) is national food security must begin with food security at the household level. Until now, most papers about KRPL have only addressed the impact of KRPL in part or in groups, but this study provides a detailed explanation of the effectiveness of some KRPLs implantation, allowing broad generalizations to be reached about the main consequences. The location is in three east java districts with leading KRPL practices. The data was obtained by in-depth interviews with managers, local government, and affected communities. Researchers also observed the practice of KRPL in the field to complete the data. As a result, KRPL policy has at least some good impacts, such as the existence of KRPL can reduce household spending due to reduce the budget for food shopping and KRPL can stimulate the growth of productive economic enterprises in rural areas. And another important thing is KRPL can be a means of sharing and control between villagers and the village government.

The study aimed to design a strategy to increase vocational school-based enterprise effectiveness by implementing school governance (SG) and total quality management (TQM). The study is a quantitative research using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach to determine the appropriate strategy followed by Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM). The research subjects involved seven experts from the Director of Vocational High Schools of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, the principal of Vocational School of DKI Jakarta and East Java Provinces, representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs, practitioners of vocational school-based enterprises, NGOs Care for vocational schools, and industry practitioners. The research is finding that the strategic plan model for increasing school management's effectiveness must begin with improving and improving the quality of human resources. This research strategy's implications are summarized in a matrix called the Effectiveness School Strategy Matrix, introduced as the ES2 Matrix. This strategy is based on the implementation of school governance (SG) and total quality management (TQM).

The issue of gender injustice is a form of social injustice in Indonesia which has always been an interesting theme and will remain an important theme in every thought and conception of society in the future. This study aims to describe the recruitment process for ASNs in structural positions in the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara and also the factors that influence the lack of female ASN occupying structural positions. The research method used is qualitative by collecting primary data through in-depth interviews and observation techniques, while secondary data is collected through archives and documentation. The results showed that the recruitment process for State Civil Servants to occupy structural positions was in accordance with the rules in the State Civil Apparatus Law No. 5 of 2014, although not fully implemented as a whole. Apart from the fact that regulations that have not been fully implemented have been identified as well as other factors that influence as well as a lack of interest or willingness from women themselves, space and opportunities are provided but awareness of women to take part is still very minimal.

Teaching is one of the fundamental professions in society. Pre-service English teachers' perceptions and motivations may significantly influence their career decision-making to enter the profession. This study aimed to investigate pre-service English teachers' perceptions and motivations to enter the teaching profession. It employed mixed-method research with questionnaire and interview as the instruments to collect data. The respondents were 44 pre-service English teachers from an English Teacher Education Department of a well-known university, in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. Results showed that the students had various perceptions regarding the teaching profession and most of them were altruistically motivated to be teachers in the future. The current study offers two important implications. First, since perceptions and motivations to enter the teaching profession are not fixed and may be influenced by the students' family, environment, and study program, building positive perceptions and motivations should be an integrated element of the teacher education curriculum. Second, graduating students need strong support from the family, environment, and the government to maintain positive perceptions and motivations about the profession.

The increase in internal migration has led to the emergence of ethnic minority migrant groups who work as entrepreneurs in various migration destinations in Indonesia. The migration that occurred in Manado shows that ethnic groups from certain regions form a unique group in the social network of repair shop owners and workers. This study aimed to describe the emergence and development of a ketok magic repair shop business in Manado which is owned by migrants from Blitar City, East Java. This study used a qualitative research method. Primary data were obtained from interviews and observations, while secondary data were obtained from literature studies. The results show that the opportunity structure in the form of requests for car repair and painting services as well as the ease of setting up a repair shop business has enabled the establishment of a number of ketok magic repair shops in Manado. Ethnic characteristics in the form of communities with high solidarity and strong social networks support repair shop activities well. This study concludes that community and social networks facilitate recruitment of workers and carry out repair shop promotion strategies because of high solidarity.

The unit of analysis in this study is local government data from Indonesia. The goal of this research is to identify the impact of fiscal stress and citizen trust on digital and green innovation strategies. This study also seeks to as certain the impact of digital and green innovation strategies on the impact of fiscal stress and citizen trust on sustainable financial performance. This research uses a descriptive verification method in conjunction with a quantitative approach. Path analysis is an analytical method used in the processing of statistical data. The research samples in this study are 148 Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) from East Java Province. The tests showed that fiscal pressure and citizen trust have a significant impact on digital and green innovation strategies. The test results also show that fiscal stress and digital and green innovation strategies have a significant effect on sustainable financial performance, whereas citizen trust has no significant effect on sustainable financial performance. Simultaneously, digital and green innovation strategy are critical for mitigating the impact of fiscal stress and increasing citizens' trust sustainable financial performance.
