National celebrations are suitable moments for festivity but also for thinking and rethinking historic events and their consequences. Commemorations are usually studied from the political and even esthetical point of view (parties, monuments, speeches). This article supports the fact that commemorations are also important due to society's debates around the meaning and consequences of the commemorated events. For this, historiography is chosen because it is a discourse that reflects the social and ethnic-cultural tendencies of a community, and the ideological tensions that underlie the controversial ideas of nation. This article analyzes the celebrations of the Independence Day and the most important historiographical discussions of our independent and republican tradition.

; In this paper, we intend to accurately describe the facts that led to the discovery of the "Dama de Baza" on July 20, 1971, in the city of Baza, Granada, at the Cerro Cepero Iberian necropolis. Through my experience as a direct witness of this event, we will explain the excitement, discussions and controversy it raised in the area and across Spain, its impact in all national media, and the unavoidable comparisons made with the "Dama de Elche". We will also give details about the lawsuit for the property of the Dama between the owner of the land, the tenant and the Government of Spain, lawsuit that finally gave the legitimate proprierty of the "Dama de Baza" to the last, due to its great archaeological value.

Throughout all different socio-historical tensions undergone by the Latin American modernit(ies), the literary-historical production as well as the reflection on the topic - regional, national, supranational and/or continental – have been part of the critical and intellectual itinerary of very significant political and cultural projects, whose particular development allows the analysis of the socio-discursive dynamics fulfilled by the literary historiography in the search of a historical conscience and representation of the esthetic-literary processes. In present literary and cultural Central American literary studies, the academic thought on the development of the literary historiography has given place to some works whose main objects of study involve a significant corpus of national literature histories published mainly in the 20th century, between the forties and the eighties. Although these studies differ greatly from the vast academic production undertaken by the literary critics in the last two decades, the field of research of the literary historiography in Central America has made a theoretical-methodological effort, as of the eighties and until now, to analyze the local literary-historical productions. However, this effort was carried out more systematically in the last five years of the 20th century, within the Central American democratic transition and post-war context, when a national, supra national and transnational model of literary history was boosted. This gave place to the creation and launching of the project Hacia una Historia de las Literaturas Centroamericanas (HILCAS) at the beginning of the new millennium. Given the ideological relevance which the literary historiography has played in the process of the historical formation of the Hispano-American States, and whose philological tradition has also had an impact in the various Central American nation states, the emergence of this historiographic project marks an important rupture in relation with the national paradigms, and it is also manifested in a movement of transition and tension with regard to the new cultural, comparative and transareal dynamics, which seek to understand the geographical, transnational, medial and transdisciplinary movements within which the esthetic narrative processes and the idea and formation of a critical Central American subject gain shape. Taking this aspect into account, our study puts forward as its main hypothesis that the historiographic thought developed as a consequence of the project Hacia una Historia de las Literaturas Centroamericanas (HILCAS) constitutes a socio-discursive practice, which reflects the formation of a historic-literary conscience and of a critical intellectual subject, an emergence that takes place between the mid-nineties and the first decade of the 21st century. In this respect, and taking as a basis the general purpose of this investigation indicated before, the main justification for our object of study consists of making the Central American historiographic reflection visible as a part of the epistemological and cultural changes shown by the Latin American historiographic thought, and from which a new way of conceptualization of the space, the coexistence and the historic conscience emerge with regard to the esthetic-literary practices and processes. Based on the field and hypothesis stated before, the general purpose of this research is framed by the socio-discursive dimension fulfilled by the Latin American literary historiography, and it aims to analyze the Central American historical-literary thought developed between the second half of the nineties and the beginning of the first decade of the 21st century.

In this historical essay we study the historiographical making of the concept of Basque Pluralism as a means of explaining Contemporary Basque Country and its multiple civic and political problems. This historical concept was developed by a new generation of historians and social theorists in the time of the Spanish Transition to Democracy and it has obtained an important success in the political and mediatic discourse. We discuss here its scientific viability as a narrative of the Basque past and its political implications as a historical tool to be placed in the public debate on violence and nationalism. Regarding Basque Pluralismwe intend to expose the tight relationship among biography, collective memory and historical writing in the Spanish and Basque historiography, specially that specialized in issues concerning nationalism and political violence.

; In this article, it establishes an approach the historiography about Venezuelan liberalism and the discussion around it. In general, this is not gotten away from the relationship with the power and the politics. Starting by analyzing different kinds of appraisals appeared in different moments, they projected in their elaborations: some of them saw in the liberalism a historical mistake, expression of the "positivist simplification" warned by Diego Bautista Urbaneja; passing by a period of slow reunion with the Venezuelan liberalism in the decades of 1960 and 1970; in which, a sample of the professional historiography considered it a pillar on which was built the republic, without denying its structural weaknesses and failures in several aspects; even those interpretations that reclaimed it during the named neoliberal era of 80' and others, with the interest of delving into its study, between the end of 20th century and these years of 21th century, they have produced a lot of works, under various perspectives in order to widen and goin depth in the knowledge about this theme. ; 125-159 ; tstraka@ucab.edu.ve ; semestral

In general, this article points to a broader reflection on the interest oberserved in contemporary historians to study the soldiers who were protagonists of the counterinsurgency, both in Mexico and in other parts of Latin America. In particular, it aims to analyze the Mexican and Mexicanist historiographical production that in recent decades has been generated around the figure of the Spanish soldier and political, Felix Maria Calleja, identify topics of interest and suggest new lines of research.

; Overall, the historiography is a discipline that deals with dual character, of a party, to compile and make critical evaluation of the written works that reflected the history of peoples, that is, works that narrate the sequence of relevant events or collective significance that have marked milestones in the unfolding evolution of a people and contribute to the formation of historical consciousness and sense of identity. In the other, compose historical textbooks. When, as historians we have assumed the role of reporting, taking a position on fact or set of facts explained, raids, through its narrative function in the historiography quality socio-political, educational and literary necessarily has a moral weight. In this context should be counted textbooks that recount the history of the nation. These texts prepared in accordance with the programmatic goals outlined by the Ministry of Education within the framework of a precise national governance. This paper aims to demonstrate how in Venezuela the textbooks on homeland history, are renewed by the ideological bias of governments in power. ; 63-76 ; dianarengifo@yahoo.com ; semestral

Well nigh the whole corpus of spanish urban historiographic studies over the last twenty years is covered by the paper that, notwithstanding, highlights the most important contributions to this. It takes as its starting point-as did «Ciudad y Territorio»- the year 1969, a period in which such studies were held in scant esteem and underlines the gradual and as yet incomplete process by which they have become accepted. Authors, models and lines of investigation are all thoroughly gone into as to their historiographical relevance and include such as bear upon the fore-runners of present-day urbanism and the works of the Art History Faculties. Finally, the valuable contribution to this field made by The Institute for Local Government Studies and its magazine, «Ciudad y Territorio» is underscored and a bright and promising future for the entire area forseen with a body of new and important papers.

; The figure of Augustus did little to attract the attention of 19th century Spanish historians. They were more interested in highlighting the work of emperors of Hispanic descent, thus the Histories of Spain dedicated little space to the Roman military leader who conquered the Iberian Peninsula. There are constant contradictions in the historiography, which approached the Augustan period almost exclusively side on, never plunging into the knowledge with exhaustive depth. However, as this article shows, Augustus did not go completely unnoticed in the 19th century Spanish historiography.

; Cleomenes of Naucratis was the first "Great man" in Hellenistic Egypt. In the sources, he appears as an ambitious, rogue governor, who may even have crossed the line of sacrilege in relation to the Egyptian sanctuaries. This paper presents a thorough analysis of the sources about Cleomenes' activities, evaluating their objectivity. In this way, it will be possible to assess how this data could be biased due to certain political purposes (e.g. to legitimise Ptolemy's usurpation) or prejudices, like those that the Athenians could have had after his ethically controvertible management of the famines of the 320s BCE. It is only when keeping these facts in mind that it is possible to have a well-balanced image of his role in the Egyptian satrapy during the first stages of the Hellenistic dominion of the country.

; This text shows the main theoretical and methodological options with which the author has worked on topics such as the repressive processes in the history of the present, the struggles for human rights or the intersection between culture and politics in "recent" Argentine history. The essay begins with a position regarding the general approach and the conception of the social, bearing in mind a renewed vision of historical and cultural materialism. Then the preference for a methodological pluralism is justified, based on the primacy of the object of study over the traditions of the different disciplines. From this aspect, different theoretical-methodological questions are discussed at the scientific meeting for which the text was written. The general intention is to propose a theoretical hybridization and a historiography that does not fall into schematic or solipsistic narratives.
