This paper deals with the management of projects co-financed by European Union funds (structural funds and the Cohesion Fund) in the Czech Republic (EU projects). The authors aimed to analyze and assess the scope of familiarity with basic project management methods and their application within the implementation of EU projects in the Czech Republic in the Programming Period 2007–2013. Based on a questionnaire survey of EU project organisers, the authors evaluate their attitudes to project management methods as effectiveness improvement tools. The analysis also considers the degree of dependence between familiarity with project management methods, their application, and their effectiveness as perceived by EU project organisers. Finally, it presents recommendations to the institutional authorities and project organisers with respect to applications during the Programming Period 2014–2020. We can state that project management methods were not applied to a sufficient extent. To improve the effectiveness of the implementation of EU projects, EU fund provider's methodical instructions have to include the obligations or recommendations to apply project management methods, mainly methods applicable within more project management knowledge areas and within more project life cycle stages (i.e. Logical Framework, Pre-Project Study with Formalized Structure, Formalized Risk Analysis and Formalized Project Communication Plan).

This paper deals with the problems of projects co-financed by European Union funds (structural funds and the Cohesion fund) in the Czech Republic within the Programming Period 2007 – 2013 from the point of view of the knowledge and use of project management methods within implementation of these projects. The authors aimed to analyse and assess the scope of knowledge and the rate of utilization of project management methods by the solvers of projects co-financed by EU funds in the Programming Period 2007 – 2013 and to evaluate the influence of the project solvers' attitude to project management on the scope of knowledge and the rate of utilization of project management methods. At first, the paper characterizes the basic project management methods, and then it discusses the outcomes of a questionnaire survey focused on the knowledge of the basic project management methods and their utilization within implementation of projects co-financed by EU funds, and that also in view of the project solvers' attitude to the above methods as efficiency improving tools. At the same time, these outcomes are compared with the outcomes of the research performed by Spolecnost pro projektove rizeni, which evaluated the scope of awareness and rate of utilization of the basic project management methods in the Czech Republic. Renewable energy sources offer unprecedented opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But some challenges remain to be solved before their full benefits can be reaped. The main one relates to the intermittency of their electricity supply which can lead to grid problems such as congestion and imbalance between generation and demand. Energy conversion and storage has been touted as a very promising solution to all aforementioned issues. PLANET will develop a holistic decision support system for the optimal orchestration of the different energy networks for aggregators and balance responsible parties, policy makers and network operators. It will aid them to leverage innovative energy conversion in alternative carriers and storage technologies in order to explore, identify, evaluate and quantitatively assess optimal grid planning and management strategies for future energy scenarios targetting full energy system decarbonization. Moreover, an analysis of the possible synergies between electricity, gas and heat networks will be carried out by creating simulation models for the integration between energy networks and conversion/storage technologies, for example power-to-gas, power-to-heat and virtual thermal energy storage. Application of the developed tools in two different test cases in Italy and France will showcase their benefits and reveal potential grid stability issues and effective countermeasures.

The European Union (EU) has come a long way since its inception in late 1950s as the European Economic Community, now regarded as the most notable example of regional integration in the world. Yet, the union has witnessed several challenges — among them economic crisis, the dominance of large members within the Union and seemingly less favorable treatment towards new and aspiring members — which, to many, have casted doubts over the future of the arrangement, particularly the common currency and the monetary union. Nationalist tendencies have also risen across the members. Nonetheless, the EU remains far from an imminent failure. What is needed is to make the EU more democratic in its decision making and functioning.
Membership in the European Union implies adjustment of EU projects to the rules of Structural Funds, but also adoption of legal regulations, thus influencing the process of implementation of the public procurement in EU funded projects. Each successful applicant who expressed the need for procurement of goods, services and works of a certain value, must respect the principles of public procurement. Irregularities in the procurement process can lead to the failure of returning the EU funds even several years after the end of the project. Therefore, the knowledge and proper implementation of public procurement is the main precondition for the correct implementation of each project. In order to obtain information about the current absorption capacity of the public procurement liable parties, and to identify key obstacles that stakeholders face in procurement procedures, the research was conducted by surveying 30 entities that are subject of public procurement in Croatia. Research results imply the poor quality of public procurement in the implemented projects, which often results in financial corrections, disapproving project reports, etc.

29 p., 3 tablas, 2 figuras y bibliografía ; Molluscs are sensitive species to the toxic effects of organotin compounds, particularly to masculinization, and both, tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPT) have been recently shown to bind to molluscs RXR. Being RXR is involved in lipid homeostasis, exposure to TPT would have an immediate effect on lipid homeostasis. To test this hypothesis, the ramshorn snail Marisa cornuarietis was exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations of TPT (30, 125, 500 ng/L as Sn) in a semi-static water regime for 7-days. Percentage of lipids and total fatty acid content decreased significantly in TPT-exposed females while the activity of peroxisomal acyl-CoA oxidase, involved in fatty acid catabolism, increased. In addition, fatty acid profiles (carbon chain length and unsaturation degree) were significantly altered in exposed females but not in males. This work highlights the ability of TPT to disrupt lipid metabolism in M. cornuarietis at environmentally realistic concentrations and the higher susceptibility of females in comparison to males. ; This study was supported by the European Union (COMPRENDO-Project, EVK1-CT-2002-00129) and the Spanish National Plan for Research (Project Ref CGL2005-02846).

Achieving an overall positive change requires not only a common general EU framework and a common structured approach to inclusion but also synchronised procedures and suitable efficient measures to address respective issues. In the age of globalization a structural approach to developmental challenges require more than a mutual agreement on a policy framework and targeted outcomes. Coordination of processes and measures and synchronization of efforts in the 21st century depend largely on finding a common platform of understanding, 'language' and intervention procedures and mechanisms. - An integrated approach to Roma inclusion aiming at fostering a positive societal change should ensure that subjective factors risks such as various levels of experience and expertise of national governments, knowledge gaps, and lack of capacities or political will are overcome. The elaboration of such an integrated in-depth strategy looking not only at 'what is needed' but also at 'how to achieve it' requires a critical assessment of the problems and identification of the cross-cutting measures that could be implemented through synchronised and coordinated efforts. Fibre reinforced polymers are important materials used in aviation due to their excellent specific properties enabling the reduction of fuel consumption. For example, carbon fibre reinforced epoxy resins are used in fuselage and wing structures. Glass fibre reinforced phenolic resins are mainly used for the interior panels due to their low weight and favourable fire properties. All these composite materials used in aviation have one thing in common: they are man-made. Renewable materials like bio-fibres and bio-resins are under investigation for a long time for composites but they did not made it into modern aircraft in high amounts yet. The project ECO-COMPASS under Horizon 2020 aims to bundle the knowledge of 17 partners from China and Europe to develop ecological improved composites for the use in aircraft interior and secondary structures [1]. Bio-based reinforcements, epoxy resin and sandwich cores are developed and improved for their application in aviation. Furthermore the use of recycled carbon fibres to increase the mechanical strength and multifunctional aspects of bio-composites are evaluated. In order to withstand the special stresses in aviation environment, protection technologies to mitigate the risks of fire, lightning and moisture uptake are under investigation. An adapted modelling and simulation will enable the optimization of the composite design. Electrical conductive composites for electromagnetic interference shielding and lightning strike protection are under investigation in ECO-COMPASS as well. The cooperation includes the exchange of knowledge and materials in order to optimize the development of ecological friendly composites. The aim of the presentation at the EMUS conference is to give an overview of the project objectives and its special background with the collaboration of Chinese and European partners. Selected topics and results of the ECO-COMPASS project will be presented. A special attention will be given to the multifunctional aspects of the composites under evaluation in the ECO-COMPASS project. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 690638 and the Special Research Plan on Civil Aircraft of Ministry for Industry and Information of the People's Republic of China (MIIT) under Grant No MJ-2015-H-G-103.
