The Dictonary of Politcal Knowledge was created as the efect of the work of numerous scholars engaged into the implementaton of the scientfc project called The Basic Categories of Politcal Science, realized due to the support of Prof. Czesław Mojsiewicz Fund for Internatonal Cooperaton. The Dictonary of Politcal Knowledge was prepared for the Reader interested in politcs. The editors' intenton was to collect in one vol- ume a certain set of knowledge that helps not only specialists, but also students, especially in humanites, journalists and commentators to understand and assess the surrounding reality.

The global #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter movements as well as the push for LGBTQ+ rights are all emblematic of a growing interest in and focus on how to better embrace and capitalize on diversity. Yet these social movements exist alongside renewed efforts to constrain minority rights and stem immigration around the world. In 'Untapped Power', Carla Koppell has assembled a leading group of scholars, policy makers, researchers, and activists to provide a comprehensive overview for understanding and navigating these countervailing forces, so that we can build a more peaceful and inclusive world.

This volume offers a guide to students and practitioners on how to improve problem-solving with policies in a political world. It integrates insights from applied policy analysis and studies of the policy process to develop a framework that conceives policy-making as structured by two spheres of action - the 'engine room' of specialists and experts in government agencies, NGOs, research organizations etc., on the one hand, and the political 'superstructure' of politicians, key public stakeholders and the public, on the other hand.

This volume explores how digitalization - in different forms - affects the welfare state. Digitalization is likely to have a lasting impact on work, welfare, and the distribution of income. The volume studies how digitalization affects policies as well as the underlying power relationship between actors, i.e. the politics of the welfare state.

Although empirical studies have concluded that political leaders in democratic systems often respond to mass unrest by expanding the welfare state, most of this research fails to explain adequately why the state responds as it does. I test the validity of pluralist and social control theories of state response by examining black insurgency in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s. Using pooled time-series analysis, I estimate the relationship between state AFDC recipient rates, state incarceration rates, and black political violence, testing a series of specific hypotheses that distinguish between these two competing theories. The results lend much support to the social control characterization of state response and may help explain trends in welfare and criminal justice policies over the last two decades. Was fördert, was hemmt die Integration von Zuwanderern?
Golub, Mark. (2018) Is Racial Equality Unconstitutional. New York: Oxford University Press. 232 pp. Hardback, $65.00. ISBN: 9780190683603 Race is a primary factor in United States legal, political, and social history. It is race that has found its way into the minds of citizens, influencing and shaping their thoughts and beliefs through the cracking of a gavel in a courtroom. Mark Golub reflects on these challenges in his new book, Is Racial Equality Unconstitutional?, as he traces the argument of "colorblind constitutionalism" back to Justice Harlan's famous dissent in Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) to current debates on affirmative action. This leads to a furthered discussion of the many Supreme Court cases that emphasize a hierarchy of racial non-existence, where a protection of whiteness pervades as the illicit mechanism of the Supreme Court's decision making, rather than an equal racial society, under the problematic color-blind doctrine.
