BIST Sustainability Index was created to increase the understanding, knowledge, and practices on sustainability among Borsa Istanbul companies in Turkey. The BIST Sustainability Index aims to guide companies in the process of establishing policies regarding the environmental, social, and corporate governance risks of stock exchanges. In addition, it has the mission of creating a platform that communicates information on companies' sustainability policies to responsible investors. In line with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals, several metrics are presented according to the sustainability practices of companies in Borsa Istanbul. Social networks are a tool that businesses frequently use to disseminate information quickly and at low cost. It has a key role in disseminating information about social marketing activities, especially in the sustainability axis. This study focuses on how companies use social networks to disseminate sustainability information. For this purpose, the sustainability messages of the 12 companies with the highest scores in the BIST sustainability index on the social network X platform for the years 2014-2022 are analyzed. The aim of the study is to examine whether there is a relationship between the companies' BIST sustainability index scores and the intensity of their use of sustainability messages on the social network. X platform data was obtained with the Python programming language, twint library. The correlation test was carried out using the SPSS package program with the Spearman Correlation test. As a result of the research, it is seen that the most frequently used keywords/phrase groups in the posts made by all companies are "education, energy, climate, women, health, water, sustainable, wages, production". The study did not find a significant relationship between the BIST sustainability index scores and the intensity of companies' messages containing sustainability keywords on the platform. This shows that companies should use social networks more efficiently in the dissemination of sustainability activities. Knowing how companies use social media to disseminate sustainability information can provide guidance for other companies. On the other hand, within the scope of the research, the messages of the companies were analyzed and the sustainability keywords were divided into three themes. The first theme is health, education, and women; the second theme is climate and environment; and the third theme is energy and savings. These themes and keywords are expected to serve as a source for content analysis studies such as social media messages and sustainability reports. Although no similar study has been found in Turkey, this study is one of the rare studies in the world literature. Unlike the literature, the sustainability activities on social media of the companies ranked at the top of the BIST Sustainability Index are analyzed. Thus, the activities carried out by companies that have already been determined to be successful in sustainability activities with a metric will serve as an example for companies that are not included in this list. On the other hand, the themes obtained from the research can be utilized in the dissemination of sustainability information on social media.

Seriler arasındaki eşbütünleşmenin varlığı, Engle-Granger Eşbütünleşme yöntemi ile uzun ve kısa dönem ilişkileri ise DOLS yöntemi ile irdelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, Türkiye'de cari açıklar artan bir takım riskler ile birlikte zayıf düzeyde de olsa sürdürülebilir seviyededir. ; The current account deficits continuing without interruption since 2002 has been the subject of research in many species in recent years in Turkey. The aim of this study is investigate econometrically sustainability of the current account deficit that it is inured by a chronic problem and whether due to a number of structural problems. The seasonally adjusted series for the stability were investigated by ADF, PP, KPSS and Ng-Perron unit root tests in the empirical study. Presence and direction of causality was determined by Granger methods. The presence of cointegration between the series has been tested by the Engle-Granger cointegration method. Longrun and shortrun relationships between the series were analyzed by DOLS method. Cari işlemler dengesi kavramı küreselleşen dünya ekonomileri ile birlikte ön plana çıkmış ve yaşanan ekonomik krizler paralelinde daha da hissedilir hale gelmiştir. Özellikle ülkeler arasındaki ihracat ve ithalat etkileşiminin etkisi altında kalan bu denge, ülke parasının değeri, ülkeye giren yatırımların niteliği ve süresi, ülke içerisindeki tasarruflar, dış borçlar gibi bir çok değişkene bağlı olarak da değişim gösterir hale gelmiştir. Avrupa Birliği (AB) üyesi, gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülke ekonomileri içerisinde de önemli bir gösterge olan cari işlemler dengesi, dönemler itibariyle farklı seviyelerde gerçekleşmiştir. Yukarıda belirtilen değişkenlere bağlı olarak gerçekleşen krizler ise bu dengenin bozulmasında önemli bir etken olmuştur. Çalışma içerisinde yer verilen ülkeler incelendiğinde bu sonuç somut bir şekilde kendisini göstermektedir. AB ülkelerinde krizlerin, Meksika, Arjantin ve Brezilya'da ise ülke parasının değerine bağlı olarak bozulan dış ticaret dengesinin etkisi ile cari açıklar daha da ön plana çıkmıştır. İlgili açıklar karşısında ise, her ülke kendi koşullarını da dikkate alarak bir takım önlemler almış ve türetilen politikalar yardımıyla cari açık sorunun önüne geçmeye çalışmışlardır. Ampirik modeller yardımıyla Türkiye'de 1980-2013 dönemine ilişkin cari açıkların sürdürülebilirliğini inceleyen bu çalışma da, ihracattan ithalata doğru bir nedensellik söz konusudur. Yani, Türkiye'nin gerçekleştirmiş olduğu ihracatın ithalata dayalı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu bulgu, Türkiye'nin ihracat yapabilme kapasitesinin ara malı ve sermaye mallarının ithalatına bağlı olduğunu göstermektedir. Dış ticaret ve cari işlemler dengesinin olumlu yönde gelişimini engelleyen bu durum karşısında ise, ülke içerisinde katma değeri yüksek ara malı ve sermaye malı üretiminin teşvik edilmesi önerilmektedir. ; Current account balance come to the fore with the concept of globalization of the world economy and the economic crisis has come more and more noticeable in parallel status. Especially under the influence of interaction between countries that export and import balance, of the domestic currency, attribute and duration of the investments into the country, savings in the country, depending on many variables, such as external debt has also become varies. The member of European Union (EU), developed and developing countries is an important indicator in the economy of the current account balance, period have been recorded at different levels in years. The crisis that occurred due to the above variables has been a major factor in the deterioration of the balance. This result illustrates in a concrete way itself when examined the countries taking part in the study. The crisis in the EU, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil in the current account deficits and the effect of the foreign trade balance deteriorated depending on the value of the domestic currency rose to the forefront. Explain about the opposite, each country have taken a number of measures, taking into account their circumstances and aid policies derived tried to pass in front of the deficit problem. Empirical models with the help of this study to examine the sustainability of the current account deficit for the 1980-2013 period in Turkey also, is a causality from exports to imports in question. So, based on the conclusion that Turkey's exports to imports have made has been reached. This finding illustrates that Turkey's export capacity can be dependent on the import of intermediate and capital goods. Foreign trade and current account this situation prevents the development of a positive balance, the promotion of high value added in the country of intermediate goods and capital goods production is recommended.

Özet:Sürdürülebilirlik kavramının önemi giderek artarken, işletmelere değer katacak mevcut sosyal, ekonomik ve çevresel kaynakların ölçüm aracıdır. Bu üç ana faktör dikkate alınarak ortaya çıkan stratejiler uzun vadede rekabet ve işletmelerin varlığının uzun soluklu olmasını sağlar.Sürdürülebilirlik kontrolü; tüm paydaşların isteklerinin stratejik alanda karşılanmasını destekleyen, sorumluluk bilgi ve tüm stratejilerin entegre edildiği kontrolüdür. Bu araştırmada işletmelerin ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel stratejiler arası dengeyi sağlayıp, ölçüm ve kontrolün sonucu çıkan farklılıklara tedbir almaya nasıl yönlendikleri ve performans değerlendirmesi sonucu diğer işletmeler arasında karşılaştırma olanağını nasıl sağladıkları araştırılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: sürdürülebilirlik, sürdürülebilirlik ölçümü, sürdürülebilirlik performansı Abstract:The importance of the concept of sustainability for the organizations increases gradually. Sustainability is an instrument of measurement of current social, economic and environmental resources, which would add value to the organizations. The strategies taking these three main factors into account provide a better chance of competition for organizations and also increase the life of organizations and competition. The control of sustainability includes the integration and control of all responsibility, knowledge and strategies, which strategically support meeting of the needs of all stakeholders. In this study, how organizations maintain the stability between economic, social and environmental strategies, how they shift towards taking preventive measures against differences found in measurements and controls and how they provide the possibility of comparison between other organizations as a result of performance assessment are investigated.Keywords: sustainability, measure of sustainability, sustainability performance

Türkiye'nin cari açık problemi ve bunun yarattığı finansal riskler ülkemizdeki iktisat politikası tartışmalarının ana çerçevesini oluşturmaktadır. Bununla beraber cari açığın sürdürülebilirliğinin denge reel döviz kurları ile ilişkisini inceleyen oldukça az sayıda çalışma bulunmaktadır. Bu tez söz konusu alana katkıda bulunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Birinci bölümde Türkiye için 1998-2016 dönemi için çeyrek yıllık veriler kullanılarak cari hesap açıklarının sürdürülebilirliği araştırılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında Husted (1992) tarafından önerilen cari hesabın dönemler arası dengesi modeli kullanılarak ihracat ve ithalat hacimlerinin GSYH'ye oranları arasındaki eşbütünleşme ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Bunun için Otoregresif Gecikmesi Dağıtılmış Model (ARDL) ve Doğrusal Olmayan Otoregresif Gecikmesi Dağıtılmış Model (NARDL) eşbütünleşme yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. ARDL eşbütünleşme testi sonucunda ithalat değişkeni katsayısının 1'den küçük olması Türkiye'de cari açığın zayıf formda sürdürülebilir olduğunu göstermektedir. NARDL eşbütünleşme testi sonucunda ithalat artış ve azalışlarının ihracat üzerinde kısa vadede asimetrik etkileri bulunmazken uzun vadede asimetrik etkilerin varlığı tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre ithalatta artışın ithalatta düşüşe göre ihracat üzerinde daha büyük etkiye neden olduğu görülmüştür. İkinci bölümde Türkiye için 1998-2016 dönemi için çeyrek yıllık verilerle ARDL ve NARDL eşbütünleşme modeliyle ihracat ve ithalat taleplerinin döviz kuru ve gelir esneklikleri tahmin edilmiştir. ARDL eşbütünleşme testi sonucuna göre ihracat ve ithalat taleplerinin reel döviz kuru esnekliklerinin mutlak değer toplamı 1'den büyük olduğundan Türkiye için Marshall-Lerner Koşulu sağlanmaktadır. Öte yandan ihracat ve ithalat taleplerinin gelir esnekliklerinin fiyat esnekliklerinden büyük olduğu varsayımı doğrulanmıştır. Houthakker-Magee Bilmecesi olarak adlandırılan ithalatın yurtiçi gelir esnekliğinin ihracatın yurtdışı gelir esnekliğinden daha büyük olması durumu Türkiye için doğrulanmaktadır. Böyle bir durumda yurtiçi ve yurtdışı gelir düzeylerinin eşit oranda artış göstermesi dış ticaret açığında artışa neden olmaktadır. İhracat talebi denkleminin NARDL eşbütünleşme tahmini sonucunda reel döviz kurunun düşüş gösterdiği durumdaki esnekliği yükseliş gösterdiği durumdaki esnekliğine göre daha büyük olduğundan Türk Lirası'nın değer kaybetmesinin değer kazandığı duruma göre ihracat üzerinde daha önemli bir etkiye neden olduğu söylenebilir. İthalat talebi denkleminin NARDL eşbütünleşme tahmini sonucunda reel döviz kurunun artış gösterdiği durumdaki esnekliği, düşüş gösterdiği durumdaki esnekliğine göre daha büyük olduğundan Türk Lirası'nın değer kazanmasının değer kaybettiği duruma göre ithalat üzerinde daha önemli bir etkiye neden olduğu söylenebilir. Üçüncü bölümde 1998-2016 dönemi için yıllık veriler kullanılarak Arrelano-Bond Fark GMM ve Blundell-Bond Sistem GMM panel verisi tahminleriyle 33 gelişmekte olan ülke için tasarruf-yatırım dengesinin belirleyicileri olan değişkenlerle sürdürülebilir cari denge düzeyi hesaplanmıştır. 1999-2001 ve 2010-2016 yılları arasında güncel cari hesap dengesi sürdürülebilir cari hesap dengesinin altında kalarak Türkiye için cari açığın sürdürülemez boyutta olduğunu göstermiştir. Ardından Türkiye için Temel Denge Döviz Kuru (FEER) hesaplanmıştır. 1998 yılının 1. çeyreği ile 2016 yılının 2. Çeyreği arasındaki dönem için hesaplanan FEER'e ait endeks güncel Reel Efektif Döviz Kuru Endeksi REER ile karşılaştırıldığında REER'in 2001-2004 yılları arasında aşırı değerli olduğunu buna karşın 2010-2016 yılları arasında ise aşırı değersiz olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu durum 2001-2004 dönemi için Türk Lirası'nın aşırı değerli olduğunu, 2010-2016 dönemi içinse aşırı değersiz olduğunu göstermektedir. ; The current account deficit problem of Turkey and the financial risks it creates constitute the main framework of the economic policy discussions in our country. However, there are very few studies examining the relationship between the sustainability of the current account deficit and the equilibrium real exchange rates. This thesis aims to contribute to this field. In the first section, the sustainability of current account deficits was investigated by using quarterly data for the 1998-2016 period for Turkey. Within the scope of the study, the cointegration relationship between the ratios of export and import volumes to GDP was examined by using the intertemporal approach to current account proposed by Husted (1992). For this Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model, ARDL and Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model NARDL cointegration approaches were used. As a result of the ARDL cointegration test the import variable coefficient is less than 1 shows that the current account deficit in Turkey is sustainable in a weak form. As a result of the NARDL cointegration test, while import increases and decreases do not have asymmetric effects on exports in the short term, the existence of asymmetric effects in the long term has been determined. Accordingly, it was observed that the increase in imports had a greater effect on exports than the decrease in imports. In the second section, the exchange rate and income elasticities of export and import demands are estimated using ARDL and NARDL cointegration approaches with quarterly data for 1998-2016 period. According to the ARDL cointegration test result, since the sum of the real exchange rate elasticities of the export and import demands in absolute value is greater than 1, the Marshall-Lerner Condition is satisfied for Turkey. On the other hand, the assumption that the income elasticity of export and import demand is greater than the price elasticity has been confirmed. The fact that the domestic income elasticity of imports is greater than the foreign income elasticity of exports, which is called the Houthakker-Magee Puzzle, is confirmed for Turkey. In such a case, the equal increase in domestic and foreign income levels causes an increase in the foreign trade deficit. As a result of the NARDL cointegration estimation of the export demand equation, it can be said that the depreciation of the Turkish Lira has a more significant effect on exports than the case in which it appreciates, since the elasticity of the real exchange rate in the case of a decrease is greater than that in the case of an increase. As a result of the NARDL cointegration estimation of the import demand equation, since the elasticity of the real exchange rate in the case of an increase is greater than the elasticity in the case of a decrease, it can be said that the appreciation of the Turkish Lira has a more significant effect on imports than the case of depreciation. In the third section, using the annual data for the period 1998-2016, the sustainable current account balance level is calculated with the variables that are the determinants of the savings-investment balance for 33 developing countries, using the Arrelano-Bond Difference GMM and Blundell-Bond System GMM panel data estimates. The current account balance between 1999-2001 and 2010-2016 remained below the sustainable current account balance, showing that the current account deficit for Turkey is unsustainable. Then, FEER (Fundamental Equilibrium Exchange Rate) was calculated for Turkey. When the index of FEER, calculated for the period between the first quarter of 1998 and the second quarter of 2016, is compared with the current REER index (Real Effective Exchange Rate), REER is overvalued between 2001-2004, but undervalued between 2010-2016.

Cari işlemler açığı ve cari açığın sürdürülebilirliği, bir ülkenin ekonomik performansının değerlendirilmesinde önemli bir kriter olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu nedenle cari açık sorunu gelişmekte olan ülkeler için önemini koruyan konulardan biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye'nin cari işlemler açığının sürdürülebilirliğini 2010:M01-2020:M10 dönemi aylık verileri ile incelemektir. Çalışmada ihracat ve ithalat serilerinin durağanlığı Fourier ADF birim kök testi, ADF birim kök testi, Phillips-Perron birim kök testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Daha sonra seriler arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişkiyi belirlemek üzere Fourier eşbütünleşme (FSHIN) testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları Türkiye'nin cari açığının zayıf formda sürdürülebilir olduğunu göstermiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular Türkiye'de cari açığın sürdürülebilirliğine yönelik politika uygulamaları gerekliliğini göstermektedir. ; The current account deficit and the sustainability of the current account deficit are considered as an important criteri on inevaluating a country's economic performance. Therefore the current account deficit problem is one of the issues that maintains its importance for developing countries. The aim of this study is to examine the sustainability of Turkey's current account deficit with monthly data for the period 2010:M01-2020:M10. In the study, the stationarity of the export and import series was analyzed by Fourier ADF unit root test, ADF unit root test, Phillips-Perron unit root test. Then, the Fourier cointegration (FSHIN) test was used to determine the long-term relationship between the series. The results of study shows that Turkey's current account deficits are sustainable in the weak form. The findings obtained from the study show the necessity of policy implementations for the sustainability of the current account deficit in Turkey.

Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, ilgili seri kırılmasız birim-kök testlerine göre ve tek kırılmalı LM test sonucuna göre durağan değil, iki kırılmalı LM testine göre ise durağandır. Current acount deficit and when it becomes chronic, causes a countrys economy to enter into a vicious cycle by effecting its macro-economic variables, negatively. In this study, the sustainability of the current acount of Turkey for 1992 – 2017 period is analyzed by using unit-root tests with break and without break on the time series of current acount deficit/gross domestic product ratio(monthly), reel current account deficit and reel current account deficit per capita(quarterly). According to the results obtained, current acount deficit/gross domestic product ratio is not stationary for conventional unit-root and one break LM unit-root tests, while it is stationary for LM test with two breaks. But current account deficit in Turkey which is shown to be sustainable in this study, must be of top priority and structural reforms must be implemented immediately since the ratios which are regarded as crisis threshold are too close in Turkish Economy where the ratio of current account/GDP is %4.7 for the period of 2002-2017. Sürdürülebilirlik kavram olarak büyüme yerine kalkınmayı öngörmektedir. Bu nedenle sürdürülebilirlik olmadan kalkınma olmayacağı gibi, kalkınma olmadan da sürdürülebilirlik olamaz. Sürdürülebilir kalkınma; bugünün ve geleceğin yaşamının planlanması, gelecek nesillerin ihtiyaçlarının bugünden karşılanabilmesi için gerekli imkânların sunulması şeklinde tanımlanır. Ekonomiyle birlikte toplumun da parçası olan işletmeler de süreç kâr odaklı iken küreselleşmenin getirdiği etkiyle yerini çevresel ve sosyal göstergelerle dengeleyerek gerçekleşmektedir. Bu üçlü dengeleme; çevresel, sosyal ve ekonomik göstergeler aynı zamanda sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın boyutlarını oluşturmaktadır. İşletmeler sürdürülebilirlik raporları ile iç ve dış paydaşlarına kurumlarının gerçek performanslarını yansıtmakla birlikte faaliyette bulundukları çevreye karşı sorumluluklarını da gözler önüne sermektedirler. For this reason, there will be no sustainability without sustainability, and there will be no sustainability without development. Sustainable development; the planning of today's and future's life, and the provision of necessary facilities for the needs of future generations to be met today Businesses, which are part of the economy and society, are realized by balancing the environmental and social manifestations with the effect of globalization, while the process is profit-oriented. This triple balancing; environmental, social and economic indicators also constitute the dimensions of sustainable development. Operational sustainability reports and internal and external stakeholders reflect the true performance of their organization, as well as their responsibilities towards the environment in which they operate. Organizational continuity of businesses in order to make their assets sustainable has led to the concept of Corporate Sustainability. According to this concept, businesses should act not only in the interest of the institution but also in the interest of the system. In the event that businesses do both financial reporting and sustainability reporting, the process of transitioning to integrated reporting, which is called the reporting of the future in the sense that the formation of a large number of documents is interpreted by the creditors and is difficult, has begun. The study consists of four parts. In the first chapter, the concept of sustainability is mentioned; the content and importance of sustainability reporting has been. In the second chapter, corporate sustainability models are discussed after giving general information about corporate sustainability. In the third chapter, information on sustainability related organizations was given; Sustainability Indexes, which are sustainability measurement applications. In the last section, the transition process from financial reporting to integrated reporting is mentioned; the historical development of the integrated report, the scope, the purpose, the benefits, content and guiding principles it has provided to the enterprises have been examined in detail. Comparing two different sectors selected a small number of integrated content from published reports it was made in Turkey. These organizations; T. Cari açık son yıllarda Türkiye"nin en önemli yapısal sorunlarından biridir. Cari açığın GSYiH' ya oranının yüksek olması kriz göstergesi olarak nitelendirilmekte ve bu nedenle cari açık ve büyüme arasındaki ilişki literatürde sıkça tartışılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla büyüme kaynaklı cari açığın sürdürülebilirliğinin analiz edilmesi ve buna dayanarak önerilecek çözüm politikaları oldukça önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye"de cari açığın sürdürülebilirliği 2000M1-2016M12 dönemi aylık veriler ile cari açığın büyüme ile olan nedensellik ilişkisi 2000Q12016Q4 dönemi çeyreklik verilerle ekonometrik olarak analiz edilmiştir. ilk olarak serilerin durağanlaştırılması için ADF, PP ve KPSS birim kök testleri uygulanmış ve değişkenlerin düzey değerinde değil farkı alındığında durağan oldukları görülmüştür. Yani seriler I (1) seviyesinde durağandır. Cari Açığın Ekonomik Büyüme ile ilişkisi Granger (1969) nedensellik testi ile incelenmiştir. Daha sonra seriler arasındaki eşbütünleşme ilişkisi VAR temelli Johansen (1988) yöntemi ile incelenmiş ve değişkenler arasında bir eşbütünleşme ilişkisi saptanmıştır. Analiz sonucuna eşbütünleşme katsayısı 0.74 olmasından dolayı cari açığın düşük formda sürdürülebilir olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kısa dönem analiz katsayısı negatif ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Yani modelin hata düzeltme mekanizması çalışmaktadır. ; The current account deficit is one of the most important structural problems of Turkey in recent years. The high ratio of current account deficit to GDP is considered a crisis indicator. For this reason, the relationship between current account deficit and growth is frequently discussed in the literature. Therefore, analyzing the sustainability of current account deficits and suggesting solutions policy based on this is very important. In this study, the sustainability of current account deficit in Turkey has been analyzed with monthly data for the period 2000M1-2016M12. The causality relationship between growth and the current account deficit is analyzed econometrically by the quartile data for the period 2000Q1-2016Q4. First, the ADF, PP and KPSS unit root tests were applied to stabilize the series. Variables were found to be stationary when the first difference is taken, not at the level value. That is, the series are at the level of I (1). The causality relationship between the economic growth and the current account was examined with the Granger (1969) causality test. Then, the cointegration relation between the series was examined by the VAR based Johansen (1988) method and a cointegration relation was determined between the variables. As a result of the analysis, the cointegration coefficient was 0.74, indicating that the current deficit can be sustained in low form. The short term analysis coefficient was found to be negative and statistically significant. That is, the error correction term works.

YÖK Tez No: 580484 ; Dünya ticaretinin 'inin deniz taşımacılığı ile yapıldığı göz önüne alındığında böylesine büyük bir ekonomiyi oluşturan denizcilik sektöründe Türk denizciliğinin sürdürülebilirliğini sağlamak ve Milli Bayraklı gemi sayısını arttırmak büyük önem arz etmektedir. Fakat yapılan çalışmalarda, Milli Bayraklı gemi sayısının arttırılması sağlanamamış ve gün geçtikçe yabancı bayrağa olan ilgi artmıştır. Yabancı bayrağa geçmekteki ilk sebep ise denizcilik işletmelerinin operasyon maliyetlerini düşürmek istemeleridir. Yabancı bayrağa geçişlerdeki en büyük etken ise Kolay Bayrak olarak tanımladığımız devletlerin denizcilik firmalarına sağladığı vergi, denetim ve yabancı personel gibi avantajlı imkanlardır.1997 yılında dünya tonajının 'sinden fazlası Kolay Bayrak taşırken günümüzde bu oran 'lerin üstüne çıkmış ve artmaya devam etmektedir. Tabi ki ülkemizde yetiştirilen denizci sayısının fazlalığı da Milli Bayrak'lı gemi sayımızı artırmak için bir diğer önemli sebeptir. Bu durumlardan ötürü milli denizciliğimizin sürdürülebilmesi için gerekli olan deniz taşımacılığı, gemi sicili ve uyrukluğu, Kolay Bayrak uygulaması, ikinci sicil ve denizcilik politikaları alanlarında literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Böylece Milli Bayraklı gemi sayısının arttırılması için atılması gereken adımlar tespit edilip bu hususta Türk denizcilik şirketleri ile yapılacak olan anket çalışmalarından yararlanılacaktır.Anket çalışmaları sonucunda tespit edilecek Milli bayrağa teşvik politikalarını doğru bir şekilde belirlemek ve buna ek olarak Milli Bayraklı gemi sayısının arttırılması için gerekli stratejileri ortaya koyarak Türk denizciliğinin sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanması hedeflenmektedir. ; Considering that 85% of the world trade is done by sea transport, it is of great importance to ensure the sustainability of Turkish shipping and increase the number of ships with National Flag in the maritime sector, which constitutes such a big economy.However, the number of ships with the National Flag could not be increased and the interest on the foreign flag increased day by day.The first reason to move to the foreign flag is that maritime businesses want to reduce the operating costs.The most important factor in the transition to foreign flag is the advantageous opportunities such as taxes, inspection and foreign personnel provided to the maritime companies by the states we define as Flag of Convenience. In 1997, more than 50% of the world's tonnage was carrying the Flag of Convenience and today this rate has risen above 70% and continues to increase. Of course, the number of seafarers raised in our country is another important reason to increase our number of ships with the National Flag.Due to these situations, a literature review has been carried out in the fields of maritime transport, ship registration and nationality, Flag of Convenience application, international ship registry and maritime policies which are necessary for sustaining our national maritime.The steps taken in order to increase the number of ships with the National Flag were insufficient and the measures taken by the pioneer countries in the maritime sector were examined. Thus, the steps to be taken in order to increase the number of ships with the National Flag shall be determined and the surveys to be carried out with Turkish maritime companies shall be utilized in this regard.It is aimed to determine the national flag incentive policies to be determined as a result of the survey studies and in addition to provide the necessary strategies for increasing the number of ships with the National Flag and to ensure the sustainability of Turkish shipping

Günümüzde ülkeler küreselleşme ve serbest piyasa ekonomisi nedeniyle çok fazla rekabetle karşı karşıyadır. Herhangi bir endüstrideki rekabet sadece kendi ulusal sınırı içerisinde değil, aynı zamanda farklı ülkelerde ve farklı firmalarla uluslararası bir piyasada gerçekleşmektedir. Küreselleşme sürecinde, rekabetin yanı sıra kaynakların çevreye zarar vermeyecek şekilde etkin kullanımı sürdürülebilirlik açısından büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Bu kapsamda tez hem küreselleşme hem de çevresel performansı dikkate alarak karşılaştırmalı bir analiz yapmaktadır. Bu tezde endüstriyel küreselleşme seviyesi imalat sektöründeki on üç endüstri seçilerek ölçülmüştür. Sonrasında "veri zarflama analizi" programı uygulanarak bu imalat endüstrilerin çevresel performansını ölçülmüştür. Son olarak endüstriyel küreselleşmesi ve çevresel performans seviyesi sonuçları kullanılarak "analitik hiyerarşi süreci" yoluyla diğer sosyal göstergeler eklenerek imalat sektörü sürdürülebilirliği ölçülmüştür. UNCTAD tarafından "gelişen endüstriyel ekonomiler" olarak sınıflandırılan on ülke (Türkiye, Arjantin, Belarus, Güney Afrika, Hindistan, Hırvatistan, Meksika, Polonya, Romanya ve Ukrayna) seçilerek tüm analizler karşılaştırmalı olarak yapılmıştır. Türkiye'nin endüstriyel küreselleşme seviyesi "entegre küresel" (en yüksek seviye) olmasına rağmen, eko-etkinlik seviyesi dikkate alındığında çevresel performans konusundaki konumu beşinci sıradadır. Ancak, Hindistan, Güney Afrika ve Arjantin gibi diğer ülkelerden daha yüksek eko-etkinlik puana (0.042) sahiptir. Bunun nedeni, endüstriyel üretim süreçlerinde Türkiye en fazla sera gazı emisyonu yapan ülkeler arasında üçüncüdür. Sosyal refah bağlamında Türkiye, çalışanlara yapılan ödemeler açısından üçüncü sırayı almaktadır. Türkiye ayrıca imalat sektörünün genel sürdürülebilirliği açısından 7.6% değer ile dördüncü sırada yer almaktadır. Sonuçlara göre imalat sektörü sürdürülebilirliği açısından en yüksek sürdürülebilirliğe sahip olan ülke Meksika'dır. ; In today's world of globalization and free market economy countries are facing much more competition than ever before. Competition in any industry is not only within its own national boundaries, but also in an international market with different companies of different countries. In the industrial globalization process, competition as well as effective use of resources needs to be done in a way that does not damage the environment places great importance in terms of sustainability. In this thesis, the industrial globalization level has been measured identifying thirteen industries of manufacturing sector. Additionally, the environmental performance of these manufacturing industries has been measured applying the "data envelopment analysis" program. In the final analysis, the results of the industrial globalization and environmental performance level has been used to measure the sustainability of manufacturing sector along with other social indicators through the "analytic hierarchy process". The overall comparison has been done based on ten countries (Turkey, Argentina, Belarus, South Africa, India, Croatia, Mexico, Poland, Romania and Ukraine) which are classified as "emerging industrial economies" by the UNCTAD. Although the country composite industrial globalization level of Turkey is indicated as "integrated global" (highest level) yet its position is 5th regarding environmental performance in consideration of eco-efficiency level with a score of 0.042 which is higher than other countries like India, South Africa and Argentina. The reason behind this can be attributed to the high emission of Greenhouse gases during the industrial production processes. In the context of social welfare Turkey placed 3rd based on compensation of employees. Turkey also ranked 4th in terms of overall sustainability of its manufacturing sector with a value of 7.6 percent. On the basis of our results, Mexico is found to be the most sustainable country relating to the sustainability of manufacturing sector.

Küreselleşme ile birlikte 1980'li yıllardan sonra ülkelerin sermaye akımları önündeki engelleri kaldırması sonucunda yaşanan yüksek sermaye girişleri,ülkelerin daha rahat borçlanabilmesine imkan sağlamıştır. Bunun sonucunda isebirçok ülkede cari açıklar süreklilik kazanmaya başlamıştır. Özellikle 1990'lı yıllardan itibaren giderek büyüyen ve sürekli hale gelen cari açıklar, politika yapıcıların ve iktisatçıların dikkatini çekmiş ve cari açıkların sürdürülebilir olup olmadığı konusunu gündeme getirmiştir. İktisatçılar arasında cari açığın sürdürülebilirliğinin tespitine yönelik bir fikir birliği bulunmamakla birlikte, literatürde konunun ekonometrik yöntemler ile ele alındığı görülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın amacı da Husted (1992) tarafından geliştirilen modelden faydalanarak cari açığın sürdürülebilirliğini gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerde en güncel yöntemleri kullanarak analiz etmektir. Çalışma 16'sı gelişmiş, 13'ü gelişmekte olan toplam 29 ülkeyi kapsamaktadır. Çalışmaya dâhil edilen 29 ülkenin 1970-2019 dönemi çeyreklik verileri fourier tipi birim kök ve eşbütünleşme yöntemleri ile incelenmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre Almanya, Danimarka, İsrail, İsveç, Kanada, Çekya ve Endonezya'da cari işlemler açığı güçlü formda sürdürülebilirken, Güney Kore, İzlanda, Birleşik Krallık, Avustralya, Türkiye, Tayland, Güney Afrika ve Filipinler'de zayıf formda sürdürülebilirdir. ABD, Finlandiya, Fransa, İspanya, İtalya, Portekiz, Yeni Zellanda, Bolivya, Brezilya, Bulgaristan, Estonya, Meksika, Peru ve Slovakya'da ise cari açıklar sürdürülemez durumdadır. ; With the effect of globalization, the high capital inflows experienced as a result of the elimination of obstacles to capital flows, enabled countries to borrow more easily. As a result, current account deficits started to gain continuity in many countries. Especially since the 1990s, the current account deficits, which have been growing and becoming permanent, attracted the attention of policy makers and economists and brought up the issue of whether current account deficits are sustainable or not. The aim of this study is to analyse the sustainability of the current account deficits in developed and developing countries using the most recent methods by using the model developed by Husted (1992). The study covers a total of 29 countries, 16 of which are developed and 13 are developing. The quarterly data of the 29 countries included in the study covering the period of 1970-2019 were examined by fourier type unit root and cointegration tests.According the results, current account deficits show strong form of sustainability in Germany, Denmark, Israel, Sweden, Canada, Czech Republic, Indonesia and weak form of sustainability in South Korea, Iceland, United Kingdom, Australia,Turkey, Thailand, South Africa and Phillippines. Current account deficits are not sustainable in USA, Finland, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, Bolivia, Brasil, Bulgaria, Estonia, Mexico, Peru and Slovakia.

Bu çalışma 25-26 Nisan 2019 tarihinde Ankara'da düzenlenen "Fiscaoeconomia International Congress on Social Sciences", adlı kongrede sözlü olarak sunulmuş, ancak basılmamıştır. ; Gelecek kuşaklara daha iyi yaşanılabilir bir dünya bırakmak her bireyin olduğu gibi işletmelerin de üzerine düşen bir görevdir. Bu görev sosyal sorumluluk anlayışının bir gereğidir. Günümüzde işletmeler maksimum kara odaklandıklarından sosyal sorumluluklarını yerine getirme konusunda çelişkiye düşebilmektedir. Amaç, sadece maksimum kar elde etmek olmamalı, aynı zamanda çevrenin sürdürülebilirliğine katkı sağlamak olmalıdır. İşletmelerin finansal tablolarına baktığımızda çevre adına bir maliyet unsuruna çok az rastlanmaktadır. Çevre muhasebesi sisteminin uygulanması bu boşluğu dolduracaktır. Ve böylece işletmelerin çevreye yaptıkları yatırım maliyetleri finansal tablolarında yer almış olacaktır. Gelişmiş ülkelerde, örneğin Japonya ve İsveç'te çevre maliyetleri işletmelerin finansal tablolarında açıkça görülebilir. Bu çalışmada BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksinde yer alan 63 işletmenin, sürdürülebilirlik, sosyal sorumluluk ve çevre faaliyetleri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca şirketlerin çevre maliyetlerini finansal tablolarında nasıl gösterdikleri incelenerek çevre muhasebesini uygulayıp uygulamadıkları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda işletmelerin çevre muhasebesini uygulamadıkları, finansal raporlarında ve sürdürülebilirlik raporlarında çevre ile ilgili sayısal bilgilerden ziyade genel bilgilerin yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir. ; Leaving a better livable world for future generations is a duty of businesses as well as every individual. This task is a requirement of social responsibility. Nowadays, as businesses focus on maximum profits, they may be in conflict with their social responsibilities. The aim should not only be to achieve maximum profit, but also to contribute to the sustainability of the environment. When we look at the financial statements of the enterprises, a cost element for the environment is very rare. The implementation of the environmental accounting system will fill this gap. And thus, the investment costs of the enterprises to the environment will be included in their financial statements. Indeveloped countries, for instance Japan and Sweden, environmental costs are clearly seen in the financial statements. In this study, were examined sustainability, social responsibility and environmental activities of 63 businesses in the BIST Sustainability Index. In addition, it is examined whether companies show environmental costs in their financial statements and whether they apply environmental accounting. As a result of the study, it was determined that enterprises do not apply environmental accounting, and general information rather than numerical information about environment is included in financial reports and sustainability reports.

Sürdürülebilirlik, en genel tanımıyla; Kaynakların gelecek nesilleri düşünülerek tüketilmesidir. Fakat bu tanım günümüzde çok daha kapsamlı olarak kullanılmakta ve Sürdürülebilirlik aslında sadece çevresel değil finansal ve sosyal boyutlarda da ele alınmaktadır.Özellikle günümüzde, Sürdürülebilirlik terimine bakış açısı markalar tarafından fazlasıyla önem kazanmış ve bu durum gıda sektörünü de doğrudan etkilemiştir.Dünya'nın nesillere yetecek enerjisinin kalmadığı düşüncesiyle, insanların doğal arayışı, hazır gıdalardan taze ve sağlıklı tüketebilecekleri gıdalara geçişleri çok hızlı ve isabetli olmuştur.Dünya'da birçok örneği bulunan sürdürülebilir restoranlara Türkiye'de örnek oluşturabilecek bir Restoran olan Plus Kitchen Restoran bu çalışmada bu yüzden örnek olarak alınmıştır ve çalışmanın örneklemi Plus Kitchen Restoran müşterileri olmuştur.Bu çalışmada amaç, "Markaların Sürdürülebilirlik Çerçevesinde Bakış Açıları ve Sürdürülebilir Restoranların Plus Kitchen Restoran Örneği ile Değerlendirilmesi"dir. However, this definition is much more comprehensively interpreted today and sustainability is addressed not only in the environment but also in the financial and social dimensions.Especially today, the interest in sustainability by brands has gained importance and this has directly affected the food sector.Combined with the idea that people do not have enough energy for the future generations of the world, the natural quest has been very fast and accurate, the transition from ready foods to fresh and healthy foods that they can consume.Plus Kitchen restaurant, which is a restaurant that can be seen in Turkey with many examples in the world, has been taken as an example in this study and the sample of the study has become the customers of the Plus Kitchen restaurant.The aim of this study is "Perspectives of Brands in the context of Sustainability and Evaluation of Sustainable Restaurants with the Example of Plus Kitchen Restaurant". The study consists of three parts. In the first part, the concept of sustainability, the process of the concept from the Stockholm Summit to the Rio conference and Sustainability indexes were discussed. In this section, which focuses on Sustainable Marketing, Marketing Mix has been revised and Marketing Approaches to the Environment have been discussed. In the second part, the relationship between Sustainability and Brand Value is discussed in detail by referring to the concept of Brand Management. In the research section, which is the last part of the study, the research has been shown in detail. Data analysis and explanations of the questionnaires applied within the scope of the study are also included in this section.
