La convergencia de la tecnología de comunicación y el procesamiento de información digital está cambiando rápidamente el modo en que miramos el mundo en nuestra sociedad. A medida que el procesamiento de la información se ha vuelto progresivamente más barato y las redes electrónicas más amplias, lo que una vez era dominio de lo militar y la investigación ha atraído al sector financiero y ahora es una parte importante de cualquier economía nacional o supranacional, que aspira a competir de forma global. Desde 1995 Portugal ha desarrollado políticas y estrategias para su implementación dentro del marco de una estrategia más amplia de la Sociedad de la Información de la Unión Europea. Este artículo describe algunas de las áreas más importantes en la creación y desarrollo de una Sociedad de la Información en Portugal, comentando el papel jugado por los diferentes actores ; ABSTRACT: The convergence of communication technology and digital information processing is rapidly changing the way that we look at the world and our society. Since 1995, Portugal has been developing policies and strategies for their implementation within the framework of the broader European Union Information Society strategy. This paper outlines some of the more important landmarks in the creation and development of an Information Society in Portugal, commenting on the roles played by the different actors.

March 19 - 22, 2006, São Paulo, BRAZIL World Congress on Computer Science, Engineering and Technology Education ; Adults students (AS) bring to Higher Education (HE) and to the learning process a wide range of life experiences. The use of these can assist academic learning and enable AS to become independent reflective learners. Research is urgent as more adults are returning to HE, because of the push policy for lifelong learning – at national government, European Commission (EC) and Bologna Process levels. The project PRILHE (Promoting Reflective Independent Learning in HE), funded by the EC Socrates- Grundtvig Programme, aims to identify the learning processes which enable AS in HE to become independent reflective learners and how best to support these processes. Within this research, both quantitative and qualitative methods were used to determine how students organise their studies and to discover their learning experiences. This paper describes the design and development of the system for the web survey data collection, taking into account the characteristics of information systems quality models.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a forma como o estudo de tempos e movimentos pode auxiliar no aprimoramento das operações de carregamento e descarregamento de uma distribuidora de alimentos localizada no Estado do Ceará/CE. A pesquisa é classificada em quali-quantitativa, exploratória e descritiva. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas e observação in loco com o operador que realiza as operações em questão. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam que através da ferramenta de cronoanálise o tempo padrão para carregamento e descarregamento são 445,918 e 632,129 segundos, respectivamente. Logo, concluiu-se que esse seria o tempo necessário para um operador qualificado, em condições normais executar uma unidade de serviço. Para as dificuldades encontradas de aspecto ergonômico, foram propostas algumas sugestões visando manter a produtividade sem comprometer a saúde dos trabalhadores.

It was developed by the Portuguese partner of the PRILHE (Promoting Reflective Independent Learning in HE) project consortium. This was a project funded by the European Commission Socrates Adult Education Programme (113869-CP-1-2004-1-UK- GRUNDTVIG-G1PP). In Portugal, adults may choose Higher Education Institutions[1] (HEI) or Technological Schools (TS) to pursue their education. The case study shows that there are similarities and differences between students from TS and Universities, mostly related with the approaches students have to learning and the way teachers take into consideration these approaches. It seems that TS have "best practices" that could usefully be implemented by other institutions. The chapter is organised as follows: first, we contextualize LLL development as an element within the political objective of creation of a knowledge economy, especially in the context of the European Union's Lisbon Agenda, linking education with employment. The different access routes non-traditional adult students can take to access Universities in the Portuguese higher education (HE) system are then briefly described. The PRILHE project, its main objectives, the participant institutions in the consortium, and the methodology used to gather and analyse data are briefly explained. Este artigo tem por objetivo avaliar as práticas de produção aplicadas na fabricação de cachaça em um engenho na Região do Brejo paraibano, a partir das dimensões da Produção Enxuta, verificando até que ponto as características específicas dos sistemas de manufatura se enquadram nos princípios da Produção Enxuta. Resultante de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo e qualitativo, fundamentada nas pesquisas descritiva, exploratória e bibliográfica, cujo método utilizado foi o estudo de caso, foi possível levantar as informações necessárias para atender os objetivos propostos neste estudo. Os resultados mostram que no engenho estudado, das onze dimensões analisadas condizentes com a Produção Enxuta, o mesmo possui seis práticas com média superior a 7,0, tais como: Troca Rápida de Ferramenta, Manutenção Preventiva Total, Controle da Qualidade Zero Defeito, Operações Padronizadas, Integração com Fornecedores, Programação Puxada e Nivelada. No entanto, as dimensões Multifuncionalidade, Melhoria Contínua, Layout Celular e Autonomação, obtiveram média 5,0; e a dimensão Gerenciamento visual obteve média zero. Estes resultados subsidiam os gestores para implementar estratégias que venham a solucionar as dimensões deficitárias.Palavras-chave: Engenho de cachaça. Melhorias do processo. Produção Enxuta.ABSTRACTThis paper presents an evaluation of the production practices applied in the manufacture of cachaça distillery in the Paraíba State - Brazil, from the dimensions of the Lean Production to check how the specific features of the manufacturing system of disillery adapt to the principles of lean production. To meet the proposed objectives was made a qualitative and quantitative study based on descriptive, exploratory and bibliographic researches, whose instrument was a questionnaire applied with to management of the mill. Furthermore, to retain the information was made the direct observation of the non-participatory monitoring of the production process, verifying the practices of lean production of the company. The results showed that in the cachaça distillery studied, of the eleven dimensions analyzed relative to the Lean Production, the enterprises has six practices with an average higher than (7.0), such as: Quick Changeover, Total Preventive Maintenance, Zero Defects Quality Control , Standardized Operations, Supplier Integration, and Pull System. However, the dimensions Multifunctionality, Continuous Improvement, Cellular Layout and Autonomation, obtained average (5.0); and the Visual Management dimension obtained zero of average. These results subsidize the managers to implement strategies that will solve the deficit dimensions.Keywords: Cachaça distillery. Process improvement. Lean Production.

Comunicação apresentada na CAPSI 2011 - 11ª Conferência da Associação Portuguesa de Sistemas de Informação – A Gestão de Informação na era da Cloud Computing, Lisboa, ISEG/IUL-ISCTE/, 19 a 21 de Outubro de 2011. ; The recent development of Cloud Computing (CC) provides a convincing opportunity for organizations to outsource their Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Although its popularity is increasing rapidly, there are concerns that must be taken into account. This paper ascertains the most relevant issues associated with the political, economic, social and technological factors concerning CC adoption. The research described is based on a scoping review to identify relevant studies published in the literature recently. The aim is to provide an overview of the most recent findings in the Cloud Computing environment, which can inform strategic decision-making by Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in this area.

Lifelong learning (LLL) has received increasing attention in recent years. It implies that learning should take place at all stages of the "life cycle and it should be life-wide, that is embedded in all life contexts from the school to the work place, the home and the community" (Green, 2002, p.613). The 'learning society', is the vision of a society where there are recognized opportunities for learning for every person, wherever they are and however old they happen to be. Globalization and the rise of new information technologies are some of the driving forces that cause depreciation of specialised competences. This happens very quickly in terms of economic value; consequently, workers of all skills levels, during their working life, must have the opportunity to update "their technical skills and enhance general skills to keep pace with continuous technological change and new job requirements" (Fahr, 2005, p. 75). It is in this context that LLL tops the policy agenda of international bodies, national governments and non-governmental organizations, in the field of education and training, to justify the need for LLL opportunities for the population as they face contemporary employability challenges. A perspectiva de que os intangíveis influenciam a criação de valor motivou este estudo sobre a relação entre a evidenciação de itens de capital intelectual e a rentabilidade dos ativos (ROA) das "Melhores empresas para você trabalhar" listadas no Guia 2012 da Você S/A. A análise de dados em painel, com 169 observações, resultou em um indicador médio de 0,43, em termos de evidenciação. Constatou-se que 61,5% dos itens de capital intelectual são evidenciados no Relatório de Administração. A evidenciação do capital intelectual contribui estatisticamente para o aumento do índice de rentabilidade dos ativos, ou seja, quanto maior o número de itens sobre o capital intelectual evidenciados, maior será o ROA. As empresas do setor de energia elétrica detêm um poder explicativo de 8,1% na relação entre evidenciação de capital intelectual e ROA, enquanto o grupo com as demais empresas aponta uma relação inversa no poder explicativo das variáveis.

O objetivo do presente trabalho consiste em estudar o fenômeno <em>brand flings</em> como um tipo de relacionamento com as marcas. Para tanto, se utiliza de entrevistas semiestruturadas em profundidade, com oito potenciais usuários de marcas de itens do vestuário, perfumes e eletroeletrônicos. A seleção da amostra considerou indivíduos com formação acadêmica completa e estabilidade profissional. As entrevistas foram todas gravadas, com tempo médio de duração de 28 minutos, cujo processo de análise de conteúdo por meio do <em>software</em> Atlas.ti 5.0 se valeu da narrativa das experiências vivenciadas por cada um dos indivíduos com as marcas consumidas. O estudo aponta o <em>brand flings</em> como um tipo de relacionamento dos consumidores com as marcas, como tratado na teoria. Dentre os atributos encontrados para esse tipo de relacionamento, destaca-se o aspecto emocional do indivíduo, que se modifica de acordo com as fases específicas da vida. Observa-se ainda, tendências determinadas pela sociedade (moda) e o estabelecimento de ciclos de excitação (positivo) e tédio (negativo) com relação à marca. O <em>brand flings</em> também se volta a problemas gerados em razão de experiências ruins com as marcas, ocorridas em razão da qualidade, durabilidade, tamanho, aceitação de mercado (revenda) e prestação de serviços correlatos.

The International Standards for Tuberculosis Care define the essential level of care for managing patients who have or are presumed to have tuberculosis, or are at increased risk of developing the disease. The resources and capacity in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area permit higher standards of care to secure quality and timely TB diagnosis, prevention and treatment. On this basis, the European Union Standards for Tuberculosis Care (ESTC) were published in 2012 as standards specifically tailored to the EU setting. Since the publication of the ESTC, new scientific evidence has become available and, therefore, the standards were reviewed and updated.A panel of international experts, led by a writing group from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), updated the ESTC on the basis of new published evidence. The underlying principles of these patient-centred standards remain unchanged. The second edition of the ESTC includes 21 standards in the areas of diagnosis, treatment, HIV and comorbidities, and public health and prevention.The ESTC target clinicians and public health workers, provide an easy-to-use resource and act as a guide through all the required activities to ensure optimal diagnosis, treatment and prevention of TB.
