Este texto é uma adaptação do quarto capítulo da tese de doutorado intitulada: "Corumbiara: o Massacre dos Camponeses. Rondônia, 1995 ." A tese trata da questão da luta pela terra no Brasil e enfoca o massacre dos trabalhadores sem terra que aconteceu na fazenda Santa Elina, no município de Corumbiara, Rondônia, em agosto de1995. As principais fontes de consulta foram o processo Judicial – Caso Corumbiara - e as entrevistas com as pessoas envolvidas, especialmente os camponeses vítimas deste episódio.

The teacher education is a period of great moments of rupture, which relate to the need of giving voice and working conditions to the movements of innovation and pedagogical renewal, who pretend to transmit new representations and positive expectations. Train teachers for the millennium and the knowledge society, where combat digital illiteracy is assumed to be urgent concern is a task that motivates educational reform movements that cross the world. However, this reform movement, should also mean that believes not only in the initial training - first step to permanently downgrade - which must be exhausting efforts personal, professional, institutional, political, budgetary and financial these new winds of reformism educational and systemic. Should mean, above all, a commitment to the teacher education, in response to the challenge of breaking the commonplace to recognize in theory its importance but simultaneously attend to the placing of obstacles to its implementation in schools. Entender os fenômenos locais exigem do geógrafo (e também do não geógrafo) a capacidade de fazer conexões com uma trama de acontecimentos globais que reverberam nos mais distantes rincões, levando-nos a perceber que os fatos não são deslocados de um contexto político-econômico-ideológico maior. Trata-se de uma questão de método, e isso nos diz muito, pois nos induz a perspectivar sobre as outras possíveis realidades que poderiam ser construídas mediante o pensar-fazer sob um viés, que não aquele ao qual estamos acostumados a seguir.
