Migratory movements show us clearly how hearth is shrinking concerning distances among people. In the last decade, all the regions well placed in terms of well-being indicators & opportunities become areas of immigration. The opportunities created by economic globalization, the improvements on communication & transport, the dissemination of information about well-being regional differentiated levels, will inevitably lead to an increase in international migration volumes. The coming decades will be a mix of challenge & opportunity. For most receiving countries, in particular for aged Europe ones, with increasingly high percentages of non- European residents, the impact of such migration flows is difficult to predict in the medium & long run. Consequences will be significant at various levels. Adapted from the source document.

Alternative Energy in the EU ; lessons from Portugal
Financiamento: UID/CPO/04627/2013; PTDC/IVC-CPO/1295/2014? ; EU is trying to reduce its dependence of fossil energies, assure alternative energy sources, and increase its energy security. It leads a global energy transition, which involves a considerable change in consumption/production profiles, energy market, transit and security supply. Portugal has been pointed as a good case of European politics: since 2006 it reduced 12% its external dependence, betting on renewable energies (+35%), and quadrupled electricity production from renewable energy fonts. In a global insecure context it can became a strategic country in energy issues. ; publishersversion ; published
