Human resource management greatly influences the long-term performance of a corporation. While this has always been the case, the relative importance of HR has further increased in today's fast-changing, highly complicated, and uncertain corporate environment. Sri Lanka encounters a severe issue with hiring in the public sector, and employing graduate development officers has recently become increasingly complicated. They are categorised as insecure in their position due to the effect of human resource strategies in companies. In this regard, exploring the strategic human resource difficulties that influence the nominations of recent development officers is necessary, which mainly impacts graduates entering the business world for the first time. Within this context, a qualitative study was performed using data gathered through ten interviews. By using thematic analysis, the author aimed to determine the impact of strategic human resource practices in development officer appointments. Thus, we suggest the best possible ways of solving issues related to development officer appointments through practical strategies in human resources, such as the internal hiring process, knowledge or skill exams, and one-to-one and panel interviews.

It is considered that the university system of Sri Lanka is less efficient in providing degree programs to suit contemporary societal, economic, and political needs and fails to face the current dynamic environmental changes precipitated by issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers have realised that the recent pandemic highly affects the execution of universities in Sri Lanka. Simultaneously, experts have noted the severe lack of focus on identifying the causes of university administration failures. Amidst these claims, this study, as its primary objective, strives to explore the factors that affect the implementation of the strategic initiatives made by public universities in Sri Lanka, adopting a qualitative approach with a multimethod sequential design under a thematic model developed based on a detailed literature review. Accordingly, the first qualitative phase of the study was conducted using archival sources, and the second phase used in-depth interviews. The purposive sampling method was used to conduct the seven interviews with the Registrars and Strategic Directors of selected universities. As a result, the study explores and confirms sixteen factors that affect the implementation of strategic initiatives by public universities in Sri Lanka. The theoretical contribution expected from this exercise is to explore new factors that affect the strategic functioning of public universities, with the support of the Open System Theory (OST) and Resource-Based Theory (RBT) that have monetary value in institutional analysis mechanisms, and help to streamline the universities' decision-making processes with a focus on enhancing the strategic management practices.

Purpose: Values and emotions conveyed via stories may show the contrasts and similarities between people's life experiences. Personal experiences must be shared to be understood, which may aid in forming connections and support networks. Design/Method/Approach (only for empirical papers): This study used a secondary research strategy. Findings: Throughout this study, the author makes the case that narrative is critical to effective organisational management and leadership. However, meaningful and creative in developing qualitative research in management, the growth of story methods has resulted in a lack of consistency in the field. Practical implications: Although the literature acknowledges the significant emotional and psychological advantages associated with using storytelling in studies, there has been no evidence of a link between improving human adaptability and using storytelling in research. Throughout this study, the author makes the case that narrative is critical to effective organisational management and leadership. Although essential and creative in developing qualitative management research, the growth of storey methods has resulted in a lack of consistency in the field. Originality/Value: This paper addresses the application of storytelling to organisation management and how storytelling is used as a tool for qualitative research. Research limitations: The research was primarily focused on secondary research and, therefore, could be limited to previous research findings.

Purpose: To explore the feasibility of using the multi-method and mixed-method in research studies by reviewing and comparing both methods. Design / Method / Approach: Using the literature, historical background on mixed-methods and multiple-methods design principles are collected and applied in this paper in a systematic review format. Findings: The major finding from this research is that incorporating quantitative and qualitative data in the form of a mixed or multi-method study has the potential to dramatically increase the accuracy and quality of any research's analysis and conclusions. Theoretical Implications: The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of how mixed and multi-method studies have distinct and distinguishable characteristics; it encourages researchers to conduct investigations appropriately to accomplish their research goals. The authors of this article introduce different designs (e.g., embedded design, explanatory design) which combine a mixed-method approach with a multi-method one. Practical Implications: This study concludes that both mixed methods and multi methods are reliable and have unique characteristics that increase the validity (i.e., external validity, generalizability) and reliability of study findings. Originality / Value: The authors of this paper present a taxonomy how to combine mixed methods with multi methods. Research Limitations / Future Research: Research should be directed at defining the appropriate design for a multi-method approach to help researchers conduct multi method studies scientifically. The study examines the concept of the "triangulation approach" in the social research methodology. Triangulation is an innovative method, particularly in qualitative and multi-method research. Social scientists have recently shown active interest in applying the triangulation approach, especially for conducting in-depth research using multiple inquiries. However, this method faces criticism and misunderstanding among social researchers regarding its essence, methodology, and the credibility of the results obtained. Therefore, this study thoroughly analyses the essence of triangulation and demonstrates the types of this approach and its possibilities in social sciences. The research methodology is based on a systematic review of the literature, using 31 studies published in scientific journals. The study critically analyses publications related to triangulation, demonstrates various methods of applying triangulation in social sciences, and emphasises the advantages and limitations of its use. The theoretical contribution of the study lies in uncovering the essence of the triangulation approach and its relationship with qualitative and multi-method research. In addition, the empirical component of the study significantly improves the methodological aspect of social sciences, contributing to a proper understanding and application of the triangulation approach among researchers in this field
