Abstract

En este artículo abordamos la stásis o conflicto que vivió la clase dirigente espartiata en los años que siguieron a la victoria en las guerras médicas, concretada ante todo en una pugna entre los partidarios de un imperialismo a ultranza, encarnado por Pausanias el Regente y el rey Leotíquidas II, y los que propugnaban un imperialismo moderado, ceñido a la península del Peloponeso y más atento al peligro hilota, que tuvo a uno de sus portavoces en Hetemáridas. El triunfo final de estos últimos significó la eliminación de la escena política de Pausanias y Leotíquidas, legitimada por una propaganda oficial que los presentó como corruptos y apóstatas de las costumbres y valores licurgueos. ; This article deals with the stasis or conflict within the Spartiate ruling class in the years following the victory in the Persian Wars, materialized primarily in a clash between supporters of extreme imperialism, embodied by Regent Pausanias and King Leotychidas II, and those who advocated moderate imperialism, restricted to the Peloponnese peninsula and more attentive to the helotic danger, which had one of its spokesmen in Hetoimaridas. The final triumph of the latter group meant the elimination of the political scene of Pausanias and Leotychidas, legitimized by official propaganda that presented them as corrupts and apostates of the Licurgean customs and values.
