Against Death: Cyborgs, Zombies and other Creoles Monsters in Three 21st Century Chilean Science Fiction Short Stories ; Contra la muerte: cyborgs, zombies y otros monstruos criollos en tres relatos de ciencia ficción chilena del siglo XXI

Abstract

The following article consists in a critical analysis of three Chilean science fiction short stories, which, by using the category of Latin American monster, focuses on the configuration of post-human subjectivities expressed in the texts. This interpretation intends to acknowledge and revalidate the socio-cultural context of production by emphasising the bonds between cybernetics and identity, with the purpose of acknowledging the historical, political and cultural issues narrated in these texts. All of which, in this case, are linked to memory, death and the disembodiment of the human being. ; El siguiente artículo propone el análisis crítico de tres cuentos chilenos de ciencia ficción; estudio que se enfoca en la configuración de subjetividades poshumanas expresadas en los textos, tarea para la cual se acude a figuras latinoamericanas de carácter monstruoso. Poniendo énfasis en los lazos entre cibernética e identidades, la interpretación procura revalidar y reconocer el contexto sociocultural de producción, con la finalidad de visibilizar problemáticas históricas, políticas y culturales inscritas en los relatos, las que resultan, en este caso, vinculadas a la memoria, la muerte y la descorporeización del ser humano.
