THE PROBLEM OF THE APPLICATION OF TORTURE AND THE ROLE OF THE PROJECT OF THE INSTITUTE FOR DEMOCRACY IN CONTRACTING IT

Abstract

Torture violates fundamental human rights, so it is necessary to fight this phenomenon. The prohibition of torture is enshrined in numerous international acts, as well as in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. This article provides a definition of the concept of torture, including recommendations for reducing the phenomenon. The article was prepared by the Institute for Democracy (Moldova) and is funded by the European Union under the EIDHR (European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights) Program.
