Development of urban planning in Zimbabwe: An overview

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the urban planning experience in Zimbabwe. The main focus is on the administrative and statutory framework for planning highlighting urban development and some approaches adopted for planning. A major theme of the paper is to highlight the continuity in the organisational framework which has resulted in a relative ineffectiveness of some planning approaches given the dynamic nature of the urban challenge.
