Abstract
In this article the author expounds the philosophy of liberation which had its origin in the seventies in Argentina and was an attempt, on the part of Latin American intellectuals, to reconcile traditional European philosophical concepts with the sociopolitical reality to be found in South American republics. He concludes by examining the thoughts on social transformation which aim at greater solidarity, reduction of injustices, satisfaction of social demands and basic needs which have been spawned by the philosophy of liberation.
