Abstract
In the course of 1988 it became increasingly clear that regionalization, as well as economic trade, policy problems of regionalism, were rapidly becoming a subject of great concern in many sectors of the world economy. The paper elaborates at some length on an empirical comparative investigation, in order to distinguish particular hinterland relations (regionalism) of NIEs in Asia (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong), Latin America (Argentina, Brazil and Mexico) and Europe (Jugoslavia, Greece, Spain and Portugal).
