Ethische Grundsätze der Bundeswehr: besondere Bedeutung vor dem Hintergrund des neuen Aufgabenspektrums

Abstract

Especially in the days of a significant reorientation of the mission of the Bundeswehr which has been effected as a response to newly developed risks it is essential to communicate to the public at large all that what has changed and how it has changed. In addition to issues such as risks, tasks, capabilities, force categories, and armament projects, there are above all aspects like "The Individual in the Transformation" and "Further Development of Civic Education and Leadership (Innere Fuehrung)" which have to given prominence. The latter include as sub-aspects criteria like obligations/duties, code of conduct, principles - ethical tenets which result from a universally valid, socially sanctioned, in our case western-influenced understanding of human rights. The goal is to explain and make clear in this contribution how the challenges which our soldiers have to meet in the new task spectrum have increased and how decisive questions of ethics and moral really are for the accomplishment of the task.
