Abstract

The contribution deals with the beginnings and the first steps of implementation of the "Aktionsplan Zivile Krisenprävention, Konfliktlösung und Friedenskonsolidierung" of the German government. The grown German engagement for a peaceful world also created new opportunities. Future action should consider the lessons of the first ten years of the action plan in order to inrease effectiveness. Needed are thus general principles geared to politics of peace that are informed by the goals of peace stated in the constitution, as well as improvements in competences, early crises detection, coherence, capacities, public communication and implementation.
