Der Verfasser setzt sich mit der Frage auseinander, welchen Einfluss die EU auf die Nationalitätenpolitik der Beitrittskandidaten ausübt. Er zeigt, welchen Beitrag die EU zur politischen Partizipation ethnischer Minderheiten in diesen Ländern geleistet hat. Die Minderheitenpolitik der EU verfolgt einen sicherheitspolitischen Ansatz, der die einvernehmliche Regelung von Konflikten gegenüber der Durchsetzung universeller Normen bevorzugt. Dies wird anhand von Beispielen aus Bulgarien, Rumänien und der Slowakei illustriert. Partnerschaftliche Beteiligung an der Macht ist, so die These des Verfassers, eher mit freiheitlich-demokratischen Prinzipien vereinbar als territoriale Autonomieregelungen dies sind. Die einer solchen Minderheitenpolitik zugrunde liegenden Ideen und Normen könnten sich in einer erweiterten EU durchsetzen, wenn auch weiterhin prinzipielle Hindernisse einer Vergemeinschaftung der Minderheitenpolitik entgegen stehen werden. Nursing education in countries belonging to the European Union (EU) must follow EU directive requirements. The aim of this opinion paper is to explore and discuss the challenges presented by EU requirements to clinical practice in nursing education. These requirements prescribe that clinical practice must be carried out in a variety of different and specialized areas that provide care in hospital units. This may offer students only a limited range of experience; thus, they may not be fully prepared to care for patients with common diseases, and only have a restricted knowledge about the ongoing development of caring for patients at home. EU directives require that half of a nursing education course be allocated to clinical practice. This is challenging, since the number of hours is laid down without considering such aspects as the need for pedagogical qualifications for preceptors, which in turn may affect the quality of the clinical practice.

"Drawing on a range of expert contributions, this book explores how the European Green Deal is being deployed in practice and observes how the EU tries to promote the protection of the environment in third countries. The book begins by assessing the state-of-the art in terms of the key conceptual issues and analyses sectoral initiatives that are particularly relevant for the deployment of the European Green Deal external dimensions. These include the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, the EU's regulatory action in the control of maritime emissions, the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy, the Deforestation Initiative, the Zero Pollution Initiative, the From Farm to Fork Initiative, and the Climate Neutrality and Clean Energy Initiative in the context of the Energy Charter Treaty.
