ResumenEste trabajo intenta a una aproximación a los usos y sentidos del concepto de democracia en el Uruguay, entre 1958 y 1989. Mediante un abordaje panorámico, identifica discursos y prácticas que circularon en los campos político y cultural y que se disputaron el sentido de la democracia. En esta línea, más que trazar una definición precisa del concepto y analizar el comportamiento de los actores a luz de ella, el trabajo identifica cuáles fueron las definiciones que los actores asumieron como propias, los factores políticos y sociales que incidieron en esas construcciones, la forma en que esas construcciones se relacionaron entre sí y los derroteros que siguieron a lo largo del período. Through a panoramic approach, it identifies discourses and practices that circulated in the political and cultural fields and that disputed the sense of democracy . In this line, rather than drawing a precise definition of the concept and analyzing the behavior of the actors in light of it, the work identifies what were the definitions that the actors assumed as their own, the political and social factors that influenced these constructions, the how these constructions were related to each other and the paths that followed throughout the period. This research deals with the development of soybean and meat agribusiness, and of its particular expansion in Latin America since 2008. Our analysis considers the impact of the development of financial markets-linked productions onto the technical development and economic results of the agents involved in the production process, as well as onto the sustainability of theses production systems. This work was conducted in two areas in Uruguay (Young and Ansina), selected for having different characteristics about the timeline and the stage of the financialized productive forms development. We have used the agrarian system approach, in order to emphasize the differentiation dynamic of agricultural production systems in the concerned territories, and their production and added-value distribution. We have highlighted the evolution of relations of production in these farming systems, and their consequences onto growing inequalities in regards to access to productive resources. The reflux in very large networking companies, seen in Uruguay in the early 2010's, has also led us to identify the remaining land users emerging strategies for productive system management. Finally, we have also taken into consideration the debates induced by these dramatic changes linked to financialization of agriculture to ponderate our study. ; Cette recherche se situe dans la perspective des travaux qui traitent du développement de l'agrobusiness du soja et de la viande en expansion particulièrement rapide depuis 2008 en Amérique Latine. AbstractThis article provides a comparative analysis of the distribution effects of the increase in the real value of the minimum wage in Latin America during the 2000s in four Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. Using semiparametric techniques to estimate counterfactual density functions, the authors find that the increase in the minimum wage had an equalizing effect in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, but not in Chile. This increase accounted for a considerable part of the decline in wage inequality, which was the result of compression at the lower tail of the wage distribution.

Es innegable que exista la lectura política de la historia, pero más allá de eso, importa afirmar el carácter científico de la investigación historiográfica. Desde esa diferenciación entre lo político–ideológico y la historiografía se desarrolla la presente investigación, teniendo por objeto el derecho vigente en el territorio de las Misiones Orientales del Uruguay desde las distintas interpretaciones hechas por juristas e historiadores. El presente texto forma parte de un proyecto de investigación que busca aclarar el estatuto jurídico del orden vigente en la región, mediante una comparación ante las posibles implicaciones entre los órdenes canónico-indiano, de Ley de Indias y de derecho eclesiástico. ; We cannot deny the political view of the History but, behind that fact, it is important to affirm that the scientific nature of historiographical research. Les récentes politiques publiques en faveur de l'agriculture familiale en Uruguay sont confrontées à une tension très forte avec la logique néolibérale dominant l'agriculture uruguayenne. L'article analyse les innovations des politiques publiques en matière de gestion des ressources naturelles, aménagement du territoire et décentralisation du développement rural et examine leurs effets, en particulier sur le secteur de l'élevage familial. La recherche a été conduite en croisant l'analyse d'archives et des entretiens avec les principaux décideurs, acteurs et bénéficiaires des politiques étudiées. L'Uruguay est en train d'intégrer rapidement les normes internationales de transversalité en matière de politiques environnementales (préservation de l'eau et des sols) territoriales et de développement durable. Mais l'implantation de nouveaux instruments de régulation (territoriale, environnementale, foncière, etc.) rencontre des difficultés, car ils entrent en tension ou opposition avec les intérêts du secteur entrepreneurial ou encore avec l'identité des éleveurs familiaux.

RESUMEN: Uruguay tiene una larga tradición democrática unida a la del desarrollo de un Estado de bienestar instaurado a principios del siglo XX y prolongado hasta la década de 1960, cuando el sistema entró en crisis. En este ensayo se analiza el contenido utópico de esa democracia, sus carencias, la crisis, el proceso de su decadencia, el período de la dictadura (1973-1984) y la nostalgia del «país que fue» que ha marcado la política del restablecimiento de la institucionalidad en 1985 hasta nuestros días.ABSTRACT: Uruguay has a long tradition of democracy that is associated to the Welfare State built at the beginning of the XX Century. In the sixties started a period of crisis and decadence, which had its worst moment during the period of the dictatorship (1973-1984).
