Menschenhandel ist heute, wie auch schon vor 100 Jahren, ein aktuelles Problem, welches nur schwer zu kontrollieren und einzugrenzen ist. Männer, Frauen und auch Kinder werden tagtäglich auf menschenunwürdige Weise sexuell, psychisch und auch physisch ausgebeutet. Mit der Öffnung der Grenzen hat vor allem in Europa der Frauenhandel wieder kontinuierlich zugenommen und mit der zunehmenden Globalisierung müssen immer neue und verstärkte Maßnahmen getroffen werden. Mit der Hoffnung der Arbeitslosigkeit in ihrem Heimatland zu entkommen, entscheiden sich viele Frauen dazu ins Ausland zu gehen. Nur zu oft wird diese Hoffnung von MenschenhändlerInnen erkannt und sie werden in einem fremden Land zur Prostitution gezwungen. Der Handel in die Prostitution ist jenes Ziel, welches am häufigsten von Menschenhändlern verfolgt wird. Aus diesem Grund liegt der Fokus in diesem Buch auf dem Frauenhandel in Europa und der Schwerpunkt überwiegend auf dem Prostitutionshandel, der innereuropäisch stattfindet. Da die Autorin dafür eintritt diese menschenverachtende Form von Gewalt und Sklaverei zu unterbinden, wird untersucht, welche Maßnahmen zur Bekämpfung des Frauenhandels getroffen werden und wie den Opfern geholfen wird. Um diese Maßnahmen nachvollziehbar zu gestalten, werden besonders auch die Ursachen herausgearbeitet. Ziel ist es weiterhin die Herausforderung für die soziale Arbeit darzustellen und zu klären, inwieweit die Sozialpädagogik Opfer des Frauenhandels unterstützen kann. Maga Jelovcan Marina wurde 1987 in Villach, Österreich geboren. Ihr Studium der Sozial- und Integrationspädagogik an der Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt schloss die Autorin im Jahre 2012 erfolgreich ab. Bereits während des Studiums sammelte die Autorin umfassende praktische Erfahrungen und beschäftigte sich intensiv mit dem Thema des Menschenhandels. Unter anderem besuchte sie Seminare, die die alltägliche Arbeit mit den Opfern zum Thema hatte. Der Respekt vor der Arbeit gegen diese Art der Menschenrechtsverletzung zu kämpfen, war die Hauptmotivation, die dieses Buch entstehen ließ.

We investigate the mean reversion in real exchange rates for Central and Eastern European countries. We use point and confidence interval estimates from the Phillipset al.'s (2001) local-persistent model as our preferred measures of the persistence of real exchange rates. We find that the adjustment to purchasing power parity is more rapid after accounting for structural breaks, with half-life deviation from parity below 18 months, which is consistent with the explanation based on nominal rigidities. The estimated narrow confidence intervals for the half-lives invalidate the purchasing power parity puzzle for transition and some core European Union countries. The novelty of our results lies in the finding of strong evidence for purchasing power parity as the local-persistent model produces shorter half-lives and much narrower corresponding confidence intervals than those obtained by standard Dickey-Fuller and local-to-unity models. Our evidence for PPP suggests that the transition countries have maintained their long-run competitiveness against their trading partners.

The 2004 and 2007 enlargements of the EU extended the freedom of movement to workers from the twelve new member states mainly from Central Eastern Europe. This study summarizes and comparatively evaluates what we know about mobility in an enlarged Europe to date. The pre-enlargement fears of free labor mobility proved to be unjustified. No significant detrimental effects on the receiving countries' labor markets have been documented, nor has there been any discernible welfare shopping. Rather, there appear to have been positive effects on EU's productivity. The sending countries face some risks of losing their young and skilled labor force, but free labor mobility has relieved them of some redundant labor and the associated fiscal burden. They have also profited from remittances. Of key importance for the sending countries is to reap the benefits from brain gain and brain circulation in an enlarged EU. For the migrants the benefits in terms of better career prospects have with little doubt exceeded any pecuniary and non-pecuniary costs of migration. In conclusion, the freedom of movement in the EU provides for a triple-win situation for the receiving and sending countries as well as for migrants themselves, provided the risks are contained and efficient brain circulation is achieved.
