The advent of online language learning platforms, virtual reality and augmented reality technologies, mobile applications, and language exchange communities has revolutionized language education. These technologies offer learners convenient access to resources, personalized instruction, immersive experiences, and opportunities for real-world practice. However, challenges such as the digital divide and the need for human interaction in language learning must be addressed. Looking to the future, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning holds great potential for further advancements in language education, fostering a world where language barriers are effortlessly overcome.

Abstract
This article maps the conceptual history of global inequality from its marginal status in the 1980s, its minute mainstreaming within research and globalization discourse from the mid-1990s to the late 2000s, until its popularization, politicization, and "economization" in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, recession, and the publication of Thomas Piketty's Capital in the 21st Century in 2014. Asking when, why, and how global inequality became a key concept, it draws upon quantitative and qualitative analysis of global inequality in scientific articles, books, and public media. It traces transformations in the term's temporal and spatial meanings and situates these in the contexts of rising within-nation and declining between-nation inequality, inequality research, inequality in public media, and broader discursive fields.

Abstract
This article argues that in the era of neo-liberal globalization there has been intensification in the movement of goods, people, and capital across national boundaries. Our ethnographic studies of Nigerian immigrants in New Zealand point to the dispersal of Africans with very active partisan roles in their homeland democratic developments. This African transnationalism, as will be seen in the case of Nigeria, is made possible and sustained by developments and transformations in the media where today new Internet-based media enable Africans abroad to play a central, partisan, and participatory role in democratic developments in the same way as those residing on the continent. The article will also argue that through the unfolding mediation new terms and acts of citizenship have been imposed on transmigrant Africans.

AbstractFirmly cemented in history as a connector of people, a facilitator for trade and transport routes and a driver of culture and heritage, the ocean has directly influenced globalization, and humanity more generally, for generations. While the ocean was perhaps once viewed as infinite and insurmountable, globally our oceans, coasts and seas have experienced unprecedented change in recent decades with climate change, loss of biodiversity and overfishing among the challenges being addressed through contemporary ocean governance. Moreover, and crucially as we continue to strive for sustainable ocean futures, the global ocean is increasingly being recognized as a peopled space. This article explores the role of ocean literacy as we look towards achieving sustainable ocean futures.

AbstractEarly anthropological analyses of time produced Western vs. non-Western dichotomies of time. Later on, anthropology gradually shifted from a modernist to relativist and postmodernist tones in the analyses of time. This shift is the result of the criticism on the dichotomization from within the discipline that considered such dichotomization as West-centric or ethno-centric. Additionally, it is argued here that the anthropology's interest in studying social change, particularly globalization, has contributed to this shift. This article presents the review of selected literature to discuss the way the Western and non-Western dichotomization was generated and later faded away. It provides an insight into how anthropological analyses related to time have changed throughout the history of the discipline.

Abstract
This short conceptual article seeks to integrate world-systems theory and degrowth. It suggests that an ecological rendering of world-systems theory can clarify some of the most important quandaries of the degrowth movement in regards to global justice, decolonialism, the excessive material throughput of the Global North, and globalization. The article reframes these concerns from a world-systems framework that recognizes global hierarchies, imperialism, and dependencies, issues that the degrowth movement as a whole has failed to sufficiently address. It argues that while degrowth has made some progress in conceptualizing the kinds of changes that would be necessary for a more sustainable and just global economy, further proposals and research into deeper, world-systemic changes are necessary.

AbstractThe early internationalization of new ventures has been described as a contemporary phenomenon enabled by globalization and digital technologies. However, today's multinational enterprise Siemens, founded in 1847, fits extant definitions of born globals. Based on this historical case, this study seeks to answer the question: What are enduring and contextually invariant aspects of early internationalization processes? An abductive analysis of the company's first 3 decades finds six relevant and emergent themes. We contribute to international entrepreneurship research by presenting evidence that early internationalization is not a new phenomenon, showing support for multiple extant findings, and providing new insights for otherwise underexplored themes. We also provide future research directions regarding personal‐level processes in international new ventures based on the analyzed 30 years.

European society is currently facing several security challenges resulting from the gradual deterioration of the global and regional security, the worsening security situation on its eastern borders, and the further growth of tension in international relations (not only due to the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine). Due to deepening globalization, as well as the complexity and interconnectedness of current security challenges, European society is not able to cope or deal with them alone. Therefore, cooperation with several partners in the effort appears to be essential. For this reason, the author of the article focuses on the issue of partnership and cooperation of the European Union in the field of security and defence in the framework of his interdisciplinary research.

AbstractThis article examines whether assumptions about the contradiction between national identity and support for international organizations are reflected in public support of the World Health Organization (WHO). Study 1 uses a comparative multilevel analysis to examine the link between national identification and confidence in the WHO as well as the influence of globalization on these attitudes. Study 2, which is based on a panel survey in Israel, explores whether attitudes toward the WHO have changed over time and under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and whether relations between national identification, national chauvinism, and perceptions of the WHO have also changed. Overall, the findings indicate that there is no clear-cut contradiction between national identity and public support for the WHO.

The article discusses essential characteristics of the social functions of non-formal education in the present day. The way of carrying out the main functions is examined in relation to some trends in postmodern society and its specific crisis and risk features. The review and analysis of social functions was done through a survey of conceptual and empirical studies in the field of non-formal education and ongoing research conducted through semi-structured interview with students participating in non-formal education activities, parents and teachers in non-formal education services. The possibilities and limitations in performing the functions are considered in relation to globalization and individualization of public life, a new constellation of peer relationships, the growth of consumer culture, the culture of immediacy and easy-culture.

AbstractThis study shows that the position of cities in the world economy has diverged from national economies. Using data from 2016, we evaluate a network of 12,802 cities formed by the location decisions of 24,355 firms in terms of their point centrality, and show that the inter‐city and inter‐national systems have measurably decoupled, disrupting the previously‐observed pattern in which the most powerful cities in the world city system were located in core countries, "mid‐level" cities were in the semi‐periphery,and the least powerful cities were in peripheral countries. Our findings support predictions that globalizing cities would diverge from national economies and that globalization would generate a new global geography that transects long‐standing cleavages in the world system.

AbstractAntiblackness, anti‐Black racism and other oppressions work within systems such as capitalism, white supremacy and globalization. As a system, Canadian higher education institutions are complicit with the oppression of Black, Indigenous and racialized peoples. Anti‐oppressive and antiracist pedagogies attempt to challenge institutional power and oppression but face resistance within the academy and wider society. This paper articulates Black Affirming Pedagogy as an additional anticolonial, antiracist, pro‐Black teaching praxis aimed at furthering educators' resiliencies and capacities for cultivating transformations and social change. Pro‐Black affirmations of Blackness, allyship/solidarity, humanity, diverse knowledge, and action are discussed alongside strategies for praxis. Risks of engaging in Black Affirming Pedagogy and suggestions for overcoming them are also highlighted.

The article deals with the Buryat family, in which, under the influence of globalization processes, religious Buddhist traditions acquire new characteristics depending on the systems of Buddhism, Christianity and shamanism. The methodological basis of the study is the works of Buryat scientists K.D. Basaeva, E.V. Gylykova, R.Yu. Tsoktoev and other scientists who contributed to the study of the Buryat family and the religious traditions of the Buryats. The Buryat family, developing for a long time, preserves the traditions of Buddhism necessary for the Buryat ethnic group to consolidate and preserve national integrity, and it is the family that becomes one of the social institutions that create conditions for the continuity of religious Buddhist traditions.

BETWEEN THE SYNDROME OF ECONOMIC PROGRESSIVISM AND DECOMPOSITION POLITICAL PROCESSES The article discusses the issue of the modernizing practices' crisis, which arises at the very foundations of the political order. Changes in world development expose nuances and ambivalences of contemporary politics. Technical development of information transmission, transport, telecommunication and computerization as well as the globalization of financial flow, and an increasing number of foreign investors all create new conditions for changes on the levels of economy and politic system. The coronavirus pandemic compels us to reassess the main risks faced by the world and individual countries. The pandemic has set new requirements for sectors that have a direct impact on living conditions: education, healthcare, labor, recreation, the motivation system, etc.

Almost in tandem, two scholars Katharina Pistor and Blanko Milanovic released related work on economics, law and inequality to discuss how the legal rights of capital have become so deeply entrenched in the operational treatises of the international legal and financial system that an unbundling of those privileges is recommended in this century to prevent the further unweaving of the very foundations of democratic institutions. The perspectives of both authors offer a unique understanding of the growing dynamics of the "politics of resentment" and the challenging options as "hyper-globalization" and the demise of its neoliberal paradigm continues to come under closer scrutiny—the policy choices and rule of law options outlined support the call for a new legal constitution for capitalism in this century.
