Raising of problem. The most important economic fact of our time is that we are living in an era of growing income inequality. Globalization and technological boom only increase the income gap of different segments of the population. The main reason of economic inequalities in many countries of the world is the strong links between government officials and business structures. The new type of economic system which is called crony capitalism undermines the centuries–old tenets of a free market economy. So there is a rising actuality of systematization of all negative effects of this type of economic system in the world. Purpose. On the basis of carried-out research, it will determine the features and economic consequences of crony capitalism system in the different countries of the world. Conclusion. The analysis suggests that crony capitalism generates significant economic rents, which result in a misallocation of resources and lower incentives for wealth creation. In addition, the corruption constitutes a considerable impediment to growth and development. The most damaging aspect of crony capitalism is its tendency to discourage equitable distribution of resources and income adjustment at a time when such traits are central to economic success. Crony capitalism promotes monopolization of economy, the growth of social injustice and inequality, creating obstacles for development of entrepreneurship, degradation of healthy competition and provokes corruption. Authors regard a fundamental solution of this problem in rising of effective anticorruption practices of the world countries that will have a multivectorial influence in the scale of international business.

Im Anschluss an neuere Forschungen entwickelt der Aufsatz Konturen einer soziologischen Untersuchung des Nicht-Religiösen. Ausgehend von der Position, das Nicht-Religiöse analytisch über seine Relation zum Religiösen zu bestimmen, unterscheiden wir verschiedene Formen der empirischen Verhältnisbestimmung zwischen beidem sowie drei Ebenen der Analyse. Anhand zweier gegensätzlicher Konstellationen, einer starken Norm des Religiösen in den USA und einer starken Norm des Nicht-Religiösen in der DDR, wird im Anschluss gezeigt, wie in der Auseinandersetzung um Religion ein Konfliktfeld entsteht, in dem religiöse und nicht-religiöse Positionen um Deutungsmacht konkurrieren. Es werden die verschiedenen Varianten nicht-religiöser Positionierung herausgearbeitet, die in diesem Zusammenhang erkennbar werden. In beiden Fällen gibt sich die nicht-religiöse Position über den Bezug auf Wissenschaft eine positive Identität, teilweise im Versuch, die Grenzen des wissenschaftlichen Feldes aufrecht zu erhalten, teilweise über die Behauptung einer grundlegenden Überlegenheit, die dem Religiösen letztlich die Berechtigung abspricht.

Argues that peace in Central America depends on democratization; this will require grass-roots groups, which are already well-organized, to increase their political influence. Using the case of El Salvador, it is suggested that democratic progress will demand changes in the country's development strategy with the goal of creating broad-based economic opportunity. Government peace negotiators are accused of ignoring the relationship between democracy & economic progress. Thus, although conflict has decreased over the past decade, most Central Americans do not have economic opportunities. Unless economic foundations are created, democracy will not be possible, & the current state of peace will therefore not last. Sustainable development policy is advocated as a way to allow people & communities to participate fully in the economic, social, cultural, & political processes affecting their daily lives. This paper studies economic globalization in Ghana & Kenya by examining both the domestic national policy environment that mediates globalization & by measuring the nature & level of global engagement. Global engagement is measured in two ways: first, by indexing international business perceptions of the reform process, & second, by creating one of the first indexes of economic globalization by compiling data on economic flows such as foreign direct investment, multinational activity, etc. These analyses lead to the main conclusions that globalization is geographically differentiated & that the impact of economic globalization is a function of trade policy, institutional, & ethnic variables. 4 Tables. Hauptbeschreibung Zielführende praktische Wettbewerbspolitik bedarf der wissenschaftlichen Reflexion und Begleitung. Gleichzeitig jedoch würde sich die wissenschaftliche Diskussion schnell im modelltheoretischen "Nirvana" verlieren, würde sie nicht beständig durch die Auseinandersetzung mit sich in der praktischen Wettbewerbspolitik stellenden Problemen befruchtet. Deshalb hat es sich die Arbeitsgruppe Wettbewerb im Wirtschaftspolitischen Ausschuß des Vereins für Socialpolitik zum Ziel gesetzt, im Rahmen ihrer Jahrestagungen den Gedankenaustausch zu aktuellen Themen der Wettbewerbspolitik zwischen Wissenschaftlern und Praktikern zu fördern. Um die Ergebnisse dieses Gedanken- und Erfahrungsaustausches einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen, werden die Referate der Jahrestagungen jeweils in Form eines Tagungsbandes veröffentlicht. Die im folgenden aufgeführten Bände geben das gesamte Spektrum der aktuellen wettbewerbspolitischen Kontroversen wieder. So wurden etwa die durch das Internet und die Neuen Kommunikationstechnologien und Medien entstehenden Herausforderungen mehrfach behandelt (Band 292 "Wettbewerb in der Internetökonomie"; Band 266 "Die Dynamik der Telekommunikationsmärkte als Herausforderung an die Wettbewerbspolitik"; Band 252 "Herausforderung Medien: Zwischen Feiheit und Zwang"). Aktuelle Fragen zur Fusionskontrolle bildeten ebenso einen weiteren Schwerpunkt (Band 288 "Megafusionen"; Band 270 "Die Europäische Fusionskontrolle") wie der "Wettbewerb in der Versorgungswirtschaft" (Band 299). Die jüngsten beiden Bände beschäftigen sich mit eher grundsätzlichen Fragestellungen.
