Es ist die hysterische Reaktion auf das seit dem Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion noch immer andauernde, als traumatisch erlebte Zerfallsgeschehen eines unzeitgemäßen Imperiums, dessen verzweifelte politische Elite unfähig ist, eine tragfähige Zukunftsperspektive zu entwickeln, weil sie ihre Zukunft rückwärtsgewandt in der Vergangenheit sucht, artikuliert in beschwörenden Mythen und Wunschbildern. Da es in der Russischen Föderation keine authentische Opposition als institutionalisiertes Korrektiv einer fehlgeleiteten Gesellschaftspolitik gibt, besteht durchaus die Möglichkeit eines eurasischen Flächenbrandes, der an bestehenden Grenzen nicht haltmacht.
