The article reveals the philosophical, worldview, aesthetically-axiological aspects of considering the universe as a symbolic phenomenon of the postmodern era. It is emphasized that the analysis of beauty, as the basic category of aesthetics, needs to find out its aggregate nature, depending on the individual and social semantic characteristics of reality. One of the key points of such an analysis is its metaphysical problematic – the direct emergence of constructive emotion into the realm of the transcendental, namely, the view of Man from the Universe from the standpoint of eternity. The timeliness and necessity of considering the problem of the symbolic context of the universe is obvious in the context of the third millennium, the realities of which call into question the very fact of conservation of wildlife on Earth. In the minds of assimilating the finality of the earthly boot, its primarity of progressive stochasticity, in the midst of the amplification of the eschatological context, the people of the era of postmodernity are demonstrating the development of the fastflowing, hardened nonsense. In the philosophical tradition, the symbol is the role of a pure "selfness", not tied to the powerful moment of the object: the symbolic picture does not reflect reality, as it is - the symbol of knowing the "refair" in the sphere of the virtual. It is proved that for the modern man the Universe is the object of not only scientific, technological, but also philosophical, cultural studies, it synthesizes for the unity of the object of scientific interest, a symbol of aesthetic pleasure and a source of formation of appropriate images and archetypes.

In 2018, director Boots Riley posted a short, but scathing critique of the film BlacKkKlansman to his Twitter. His criticism emanates mostly from the film's portrayal of the real-life police detective Ron Stallworth as a hero and its numerous omissions regarding Stallworth's infiltration of Leftist groups. Much of Riley's commentary focuses on the film's failure to account for the police as a foundational aspect of everyday white supremacy, but his essay also speak to the consistent use of white nationalist forces by the State to suppress Leftist and Black radical activism. This paper uses both the film and memoir BlacKkKlansman, as well as Riley's critique, to frame an analysis of the Klan as a synergistic form of State, white nationalist, and anticommunist repression against a broad spectrum of Leftist activism. Beyond Stallworth, I focus on the Greensboro Massacre of 1979, in which Klansmen and Neo-Nazis murdered five Communist Worker's Party organizers. The events in Greensboro prove a far more representative example of the true nature of police infiltration of radical groups than those presented in BlacKkKlansman. I argue that despite the popular belief that the Klan and Communist groups constitute the disavowed fringes of American society, the State has routinely provided a space for the Klan's existence while it has simultaneously persecuted, villainized, and criminalized American Communists and Black radicals. This is borne out by the fact that there has rarely, if ever, been a point where the violence of the Klan has not been favored by law enforcement and government officials over the activism of the Klan's radical adversaries.

The article is devoted to the study of the activities of enterprises of cooperative and local industry of Ivanovo Region in 1941-1942. for the production of military products and consumer goods. It refl ects the problems of production of products to equip the acting army, as well as meet the needs of the civilian population of the region. Signifi cant attention is paid to the specifi cs of fi nding solutions to solve them. These actions provided not only for the maximum mobilisation of local resources, but also for the development of various forms of socialist competition. The article examines the role of enterprises and the population of the region in the seasonal washing and repair of the Red Army uniforms, shoes, boots, etc. It is noted about the production of explosives and dextrin, as well as the urgent need for the production of consumer goods. In the end, all
this worked for the defence of the country and brought closer the defeat of the enemy. The article is based on the materials of the state archive of Ivanovo Region, the Russian state archive of socio-political history, as well as the local periodical press.

Abstract. This paper describes a review of meta-analyses and systematic reviews, to explore what appears to be ineffective in reducing reoffending among people convicted of crime. The focus of this review is on secondary or tertiary crime prevention initiatives, concentrating on interventions aiming to reduce offending among adults serving sentences in custody or the community. Twenty-one reviews met the inclusion criteria, covering interventions aiming to reduce violence, domestic violence, sexual offending, drug misuse, driving under the influence, and general reoffending. Fourteen of these reviews identified interventions that have no impact on criminal recidivism, and three identified interventions that in at least one study were actively harmful by increasing the risk of recidivism of participants. Findings suggest that ineffective interventions may comprise drug testing as a stand-alone strategy, insight-oriented and behavioral interventions for sexual offending, brief interventions for alcohol misuse, and in prison in the longer-term, agonist pharmacological treatment alone for drug misuse. Those interventions that had demonstrated, in at least one of the evaluations reviewed, that they were associated with negative behaviors were court-mandated treatment for domestic violence, boot camps, incarceration-based agonist drug treatment and custodial (when compared to noncustodial) sanctions. Taken together with the findings of previous reviews in this area, the authors identify features of interventions which are likely to be ineffective in reducing reoffending. Explanations for these interventions' likely failure to reduce reoffending draw on criminological and social psychological research and behavioral science. The authors also note that this review may not include all relevant evidence and findings should therefore be considered indicative.

Background: Gait retraining as part of a treatment programme for exercise-related leg pain (ERLP) was introduced in the sports medicine department of the Royal Netherlands Army in 2013.Objectives: To describe clinical experiences and retention of gait retraining in a military setting.Methods: Sixty-one cases from the year 2015 were available for analysis of gait and gait retraining. In 2016, 32 of these patients were available for a follow-up survey, 28 of them also for the follow-up measurement of running biomechanics in running shoes.Results: Soldiers received an outpatient treatment programme that lasted on average 129 days (SD 76). On average they received 2.4 gait retraining sessions, leading to significant and lasting changes in running biomechanics; in particular, reduction in maximal force (N) and maximal pressure (N/cm2) on the heels at 317 days follow-up (average, SD 108). Most soldiers were satisfied with gait retraining. At follow-up, 27 soldiers (84%) contributed some, the majority or all reduction of symptoms to it. Seventy percent reported that they had mastered the new running technique within two months. The Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation score increased from 55% to 78% for males and from 44% to 75% for females.Discussion: This is the first study to report on gait retraining for Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. In future, prospective studies in the military running in shoes and running in boots respectively should be investigated.Conclusion: Soldiers with exercise-related leg pain (ERLP), among them patients with Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome, respond well to a treatment programme that included gait retraining. Ten months post-gait retraining, their running biomechanics still showed these positive changes from their time of intake.

The Government's CANparent trial of universal parenting classes (2012-14) operates in four areas. It seeks to stimulate the development of a commercial market in high quality, stigma-free parenting classes to enhance the skills and confidence of mothers and fathers. In three of the areas, Camden, Middlesbrough and High Peak, the use of vouchers is being used to support this aim. Mothers and fathers of 0-5s who live in these areas are eligible for a free voucher entitling them to access a CANparent parenting course. These vouchers are redeemed by the class providers. Providers receive £75 for every parent starting a course, and a further £25 for every parent completing the course. Voucher distribution and local support to providers is managed by the trial delivery consortium: ECORYS, in partnership with Family Lives and Orion Security Print. Vouchers are widely available, including through the Foundation Years workforce and branches of Boots in the trial areas. Since November 2012, vouchers can be downloaded by parents from the CANparent website (http://www.canparent.org). Fourteen providers in all (up to 10 in an area) are offering CANparent parenting classes differing in length, focus and delivery mode. In the fourth trial area, Bristol, there are no vouchers. Instead, some light touch support is available, such as use of the CANparent brand and website, support from corporate and other organisations, and low/no cost marketing support. Nine providers were approved to operate under the CANparent Bristol brand offering parenting classes differing in length, focus and delivery mode. The Bristol trial encourages providers to operate different funding models, such as third party subsidy, or parents paying for classes.

A key element of national control programmes (NCPs) for Salmonella in commercial laying flocks, introduced across the European Union, is the identification of infected flocks and holdings through statutory sampling. It is therefore important to know the sensitivity of the sampling methods, in order to design effective and efficient surveillance for Salmonella. However, improved Salmonella control in response to the NCP may have influenced key factors that determine the sensitivity of the sampling methods used to detect Salmonella in NCPs. Therefore the aim of this study was to compare estimates of the sensitivity of the sampling methods using data collected before and after the introduction of the NCP, using Bayesian methods. There was a large reduction in the sensitivity of dust in non-cage flocks between the pre-NCP studies (81% of samples positive in positive flocks) and post-NCP studies (10% of samples positive in positive flocks), leading to the conclusion that sampling dust is not recommended for detection of Salmonella in non-cage flocks. However, cage dust (43% of samples positive in positive flocks) was found to be more sensitive than cage faeces (29% of samples positive in positive flocks). To have a high probability of detection, several NCP-style samples need to be used. For confirmation of Salmonella, five NCP faecal samples for cage flocks, and three NCP faecal boot swab samples for non-cage flocks would be required to have the equivalent sensitivity of the EU baseline survey method, which was estimated to have an 87% and 75% sensitivity to detect Salmonella at a 5% within-flock prevalence in cage and non-cage flocks, respectively.

During summer 1917, civilians using the city baths in Olmütz, Moravia, demanded that soldiers stationed at the local Emperor Francis Joseph infantry barracks cease swimming nude in the March River opposite the city baths, especially during the women's swimming hour. In addition to those of soldiers, the bathing habits of other culprits offended the good citizens of the city. One resident complained that children, adolescent boys and girls, and even some grown-ups, among them "buxom" prostitutes, were swimming nude in the March and thus offending the morals of others. "Flashers" also caught the attention of the public and the police, including the unknown man who made "immoral," but unrecorded, remarks and exposed himself to the women who frequented the promenade under the Freundschaftshöhe in the western Bohemian spa town, Karlsbad, during the summer. The offended women provided the police with a good description of this man, said to be between forty-five and fifty years old, of average size, with gray, grizzled hair, a graying mustache, and a goatee. They described his clothing, a dark suit with knee-length pants, knee-high stockings, hiking boots, and a panama hat. (Records do not indicate whether police apprehended the suspect.) In the Bukovinian provincial capital Czernowitz, an eighteen-year-old electrical technician accused a forty-seven-year-old man from Saxony who allegedly propositioned him on the city's Ringplatz one late summer's evening in 1918 of "crimes against nature." The most common "morals" problem to preoccupy the police and the military during the Great War, however, was neither flashers nor nude bathers; it was prostitution.

Despite Thailand's official reclassification of drug users as "patients" deserving care and not "criminals," the Thai government has continued to rely heavily on punitive responses to drug use such as "boot camp"-style compulsory "treatment" centers. There is very little research on experiences with compulsory treatment centers among people who use drugs. The work reported here is a first step toward filling that gap. We examined experiences of compulsory drug treatment among 252 Thai people who inject drugs (IDU) participating in the Mitsampan Community Research Project in Bangkok. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify factors independently associated with a history of compulsory treatment experience. In total, 80 (31.7%) participants reported a history of compulsory treatment. In multivariate analyses, compulsory drug detention experience was positively associated with current spending on drugs per day (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.86; 95%CI: 1.07 - 3.22) and reporting drug planting by police (AOR = 1.81; 95%CI: 1.04 - 3.15). Among those with compulsory treatment experience, 77 (96.3%) reported injecting in the past week, and no difference in intensity of drug use was observed between those with and without a history of compulsory detention. These findings raise concerns about the current approach to compulsory drug detention in Thailand. Exposure to compulsory drug detention was associated with police abuse and high rates of relapse into drug use, although additional research is needed to determine the precise impact of exposure to this form of detention on future drug use. More broadly, compulsory "treatment" based on a penal approach is not consistent with scientific evidence on addressing drug addiction and should be phased out in favor of evidence-based interventions.

The properties of UWFC (Ultra Wide-Field Camera) astronomical systems along with specific visual data in astronomical images contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of the acquired image data. These systems contain many different kinds of optical aberrations which have a negatively effect on image quality and imaging system transfer characteristics, and reduce the precision of astronomical measurement. It is very important to figure two main questions out. At first: In which astrometric depend on optical aberrations? And at second: How optical aberrations affect the transfer characteristics of the whole optical system. If we define the PSF (Point Spread Function) [2] of an optical system, we can use some suitable methods for restoring the original image. Optical aberration models for LSI/LSV (Linear Space Invariant/Variant) [2] systems are presented in this paper. These models are based on Seidel and Zernike approximating polynomials [1]. Optical aberration models serve as suitable tool for estimating and fitting the wavefront aberration of a real optical system. Real data from the BOOTES (Burst Observer and Optical Transient Exploring System) experiment is used for our simulations. Problems related to UWFC imaging systems, especially a restoration method in the presence of space variant PSF are described in this paper. A model of the space variant imaging system and partially of the space variant optical system has been implemented in MATLAB. The "brute force" method has been used for restoration of the testing images. The results of different deconvolution algorithms are demonstrated in this paper. This approach could help to improve the precision of astronomic measurements.
