Este artículo introduce la fotografía como una estructura de significación desde la que se analiza lo real-literal y la subjetividad. Esta peculiaridad ha hecho que se constituya como un lenguaje idóneo en la especificidad del ámbito de las prácticas culturales, la construcción de la memoria y el discurso identitario de género, en el contexto africano. Hemos analizado las concomitancias que generan los primeros fotoreportajes antropológicos con el continuum colonial y los posteriores regímenes segregacionistas, como el apartheid en Sudáfrica, ejerciendo una mirada hegemónica alejada de las particularidades culturales, sociales y de las diferencias de raza, género, sexo y sexualidad. Esto nos ha llevado al estudio e interpretación de la vertiente activista de la actual fotografía africana, la cual analiza la identidad desde todos los afluentes relativos al género y a la cuestión racialista: el control racial como biopoder y el poder social y político sobre el cuerpo, la diferencia sexual y la sexualidad. Bajo ese rechazo a lo normativo, las fotografías de Santu Mofokeng, Samuel Fosso y Zanele Muholi son mostraciones visuales que articulan la naturaleza conflictiva de la identidad y el género en un escenario como el africano que arrastra, enraizado en un orden político y económico precario, una violencia sistémica que se manifiesta en términos de criminalización, marginalidad y exclusión. ; This article introduces the photography as a structure of meaning from which to analyzes the real-literal and subjectivity. This has led us to the exploration and interpretation of the activist side of the current African photography, which analyzes the identity from all streams related to gender and racialist issues: racial control as biopower and social and political power over the body, sexual difference and sexuality. Under that rejection of the normative, photographs of Santu Mofokeng, Samuel Fosso and Zanele Muholi are visual demonstrations that articulate the conflicting nature of identity and gender in a scenario like the African which, rooted in a precarious political and economic order, carries systemic violence that manifests itself in terms of criminalization, marginalization and exclusion.

Hasta llegar a la vertiente activista de la actual fotografía sudafricana, la cual y desde un análisis discursivo coincidente con posiciones críticas como la de Judith Butler sobre el género o Gayatri Spivak y el sujeto post-colonial, cuestiona asuntos relativos al control social y patriarcal sobre el cuerpo de las mujeres o el transfeminismo, la identidad y las teorías queer.

El autor presenta una reflexión sobre las demandas del mundo de la fotografía al ámbito público, viendo, por un lado, cómo se han ido estructurando esas demandas, qué logros se han alcanzado y en qué medida las transformaciones de las políticas públicas en el área de la cultura han afectado al medio fotográfico ; The author presents a reflexion on the demands of the photography world on the public field, looking at, on one hand, how these demands have been structured, what achievements have been made and to what extent transformations of public policy in the area of culture have affected the photography medium.

The essay discusses the experimental forms of visual representation in the work of the Argentinean photographer Seba Kurtis. His work portrays several migrations from the southern to northern hemispheres using "flawed" devices and other heterodox resources that extend the limits of the concepts of record and representation, and their relation with technology. The technical device and security "device", seen from a biopolitical perspective intertwine in Kurtis´ photographic works, recording what we define as flawed experience and people without identity, which constitute the illegal immigrant condition. Photography becomes a form of resistance and necessarily veiled memory of a diaspora marked by its growing illegalization, in opposition to the record and control of the state devices.

The article discusses the practices of participative photography in the construction of child and adolescent citizenship in contexts of exclusion and sociopolitical violence in urban peripheries. On the basis of the community project, Shooting Cameras, in Cazucá, it argues that in contexts of non-citizenship and community breakdown, characterized by the restriction of democratic action and of the constitution of civil societies, it is possible for daily citizenship practices to emerge through photography. In this context, boys, girls, and teenagers become cultural agents who interpellate traditional forms of participation, thus contributing elements for the configuration of a new subject of citizenship. ; Este artículo presenta las prácticas de fotografía participativa para la construcción de ciudadanías de la infancia y la adolescencia en contextos de exclusión y violencia sociopolítica en las periferias urbanas. A partir del proyecto comunitario Disparando Cámaras en Cazucá se sustenta que en contextos de no-ciudadanía y ruptura comunitaria, caracterizados por la restricción del accionar democrático y la constitución de sociedades civiles, es posible la emergencia de prácticas cotidianas de ciudadanía a través de la fotografía. En este contexto, los niños, niñas y adolescentes se convierten en agentes culturales que interpelan las formas tradicionales de participación, aportando elementos para la configuración de un nuevo sujeto ciudadano.

This paper explores the problem of the relationships among socio-historic discourse, advertising and photography, paying special attention to the basic elements configuring the main ideologies at stake during World War II and its graphic representation. Moreover, the author develops the different forms of discourse following World War II that reflect new artistic initiatives related to pro and anti-war positions. ; El artículo aborda el problema de la relación entre el discurso histórico-social y el discurso publicitario y la fotografía haciendo hincapié en los elementos básicos que configuran las principales ideologías que preparan la Segunda Guerra Mundial y su representación gráfica. asimismo, el autor desarrolla las distintas formas de discurso posteriores al acontecimiento histórico que reflejan nuevas iniciativas artísticas relacionadas con posiciones pro y antibelicistas.

The article aims to explore the photography as a technology of archive –in concrete the genre of the photographic portrait–, and its documentary use in relation with the practices and the techniques of observation, of registration and archive at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th, techniques that have placed a new "political anatomy of the body". Furthermore it intents to point out the historical discourse of these intersections through the emergency of an immense documentary writing closely connected to the power-knowledge mechanisms through the analysis of the French philosopher Michel Foucault in Surveiller et Punir: Naissance de la Prison (1975). ; El artículo tiene como objetivo examinar la fotografía como tecnología de archivo –en concreto el género del retrato fotográfico– y su uso documental en relación con las prácticas y las técnicas de observación, registro y archivo de finales del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX, técnicas que han dado lugar a una nueva «anatomía política del cuerpo». Asimismo, intenta señalar el discurso histórico de estas intersecciones mediante la emergencia de una extensa escritura documental estrechamente conectada con los mecanismos de poder-conocimiento en el análisis del filósofo francés Michel Foucault en Surveiller et Punir: Naissance de la Prison (1975).

La imagen fotográfica juega un importante papel en la transmisión, conservación y visualización de las actividades políticas, sociales, científicas o culturales de la humanidad de tal manera que se erige en verdadero documento social. Si los archivos y la documentación escrita constituyen una fuente histórica básica para la comprensión de los avatares del hombre durante los últimos siglos, la fotografía, sea la de prensa, la profesional o, incluso, la fotografía de aficionado, representa, con el cine y la televisión, la memoria visual de los siglos XIX y XX. En el ámbito de la investigación y aplicación didáctica, la fotografía se muestra, en comparación con otras fuentes, no sólo como un recurso ilustrativo y estético, sino como un fenómeno complejo en el que confluyen muchos valores y que presenta diversas aplicaciones. Se propone el trazado de una genealogía para la fotografía contemporánea y colectiva. Se establecen tres coordenadas que dibujan un itinerario significativo en la transformación de los regímenes escópicos argentinos: fotografías del siglo XIX producidas en función de géneros hegemónicos vinculados a la estabilización de la foto como medio de representación de la cultura dominante y de la construcción de una identidad nacional mirando hacia afuera; la emergencia, en las primeras décadas del siglo XX, de prácticas fotográficas disensuales respecto de ese enclave; y el desarrollo contemporáneo de la fotografía colectiva como (re)aparición y fortalecimiento de algunos de los elementos que pueden considerarse como la evidencia histórica de una forma de producir fotografía desde la resistencia (inter)subjetiva, el disenso político y el despliegue de identidades anti statu quo. ; The tracing of a genealogy for contemporary and collective photography is proposed here. Three coordinates that draw a significant itinerary in the transformation of the Argentine scopic regimes are established: photographs of the nineteenth century produced in terms of hegemonic genres linked to the stabilization of the photo as a means of representing the dominant culture and the construction of a national identity looking outward; the emergence, in the first decades of the twentieth century, of dissenting photographic practices with respect to that enclave; and the contemporary development of collective photography as (re)emergence and strengthening of some of the elements that can be considered as the historical evidence of a way of producing photography from (inter)subjective resistance, political dissent and the deployment of identity anti statu quo. ; Sección: Enfoques ; Facultad de Bellas Artes

This research is about the 20th century's caribbean photography like a territory of theorical and descolonial debates. In general, the text discus about the mains topics of Social Sciences and cultural studies such as memories, political commitment and the bodies as critical visions of regional culture. ; En el presente ensayo se propone el análisis de la fotografía del Caribe durante el siglo XX como un escenario de debates teóricos y descoloniales. A modo decartografía general, se analizan tópicos centrales en las ciencias sociales y los estudios culturales como registro y memoria histórica, compromiso político y cultural, y la dimensión del cuerpo en la construcción visual de discursos críticos sobre subalternidades. ; Este artigo propõe a análise fotográfica das Caraíbas durante o século XX (século 20) como um cenário teórico e debates descoloniais. Como um dos principais mapeamentos gerais é discutido nas ciências sociais e estudos culturais assim como também é registo e memória histórica, compromisso político e cultural ou a dimensão do corpo com a construção visual de discursos críticos sobre subalternidades.

La fotografía tiene el poder de remover las emociones y el pensamiento contribuyendo a la construcción de conocimiento. Desde la aparición de la herramienta fotográfica las imágenes han servido de mecanismo activador en la producción arquitectónica, sus códigos ubican épocas, modos y modas, y (des)contextualizadas ayudan a entender y potencian la reflexión y la generación de un nuevo saber. Las fotografías de arquitecturas no construidas o concebidas con una corta vida, ayudan al constructo del pensamiento arquitectónico, al igual que lo hacen las imágenes generadas desde diferentes modos de estar y producir entendimiento en el espacio cultural, estableciendo etapas de evolución y nuevos paradigmas. El espacio doméstico es un buen ejemplo de desarrollo en el constructivo social, afectado inevitablemente por momentos históricos y cambios culturales. Las fotografías conservadas sobre prototipos, artefactos y dispositivos domésticos no construidos, al igual que la narrativa de imágenes que documentan movimientos sociales, posicionamientos culturales y políticas espaciales, son hoy día la base de nuestras investigaciones y erudición arquitectónica. Photography has the power to stir emotions and thinking contributing both to the construction of knowledge. Since photography was discovered images have been used as an activator of different mechanisms for architectural production. Its codes situate epochs, ways of living and trends, and decontextualized this images help to understand and enhance thinking and the production of new knowledge. Photographs of unbuilt architecture help to create architectural thinking, as well as images generated from different ways of being and which produce comprehension in the cultural space do, setting stages of evolution and new paradigms. Domestic space is good example of development in social construction, affected by historical periods and cultural changes. The existing photographs about prototypes, domestic gadgets and devices which were not built, as well as the narrative of the images which document social and political movements, cultural positions and spatial politics, are the basis of our architectural research and learning nowadays.
