The Sandinista revolution
In: Unisa Latin American report, Band 7, Heft 1, S. 12-24
ISSN: 0256-6060
This article examines the revolutionary strategy of the FSLN during the 1960s and 1970s. The Sandinistas' experimentation with various forms of guerrilla warfare is analysed. Despite setbacks, the Sandinistas were able to adapt their tactics and eventually seized power. The Sandinista war in Nicaragua provides an excellent case study of the application and modification of the prevalent theories of revolution and guerrilla warfare. (UNISA/DÜI)

In: Welt-Trends: das außenpolitische Journal, Heft 68, S. 93-103
ISSN: 0944-8101
In July 1979, with the 'Sandinista Revolution' a reconfiguration of Nicaragua took place. It was of global interest. The "new Nicaragua" became the target of conservatives & the new icon of the left, that longed for socialism beyond totalitarian structures. After ten years, the project ended. Thirty years after that, the author, who lived in Nicaragua at the time, discusses the reasons for the revolution, its successes, & its ultimate failure. Adapted from the source document.
