Seit ihrer "Erfindung" Ende der 1970er Jahre wurden viele Hundert Projekte mit dem gesellschaftswissenschaftlichen Zielgruppenmodell der Sinus-Milieus durchgeführt, meist empirische Forschungsprojekte und meist unveröffentlichte Auftragsarbeiten. Aber es gibt auch zahlreiche publizierte Studien mit und zu den Sinus-Milieus - zu den unterschiedlichsten Themen. Was es bis dato nicht gibt, ist ein Grundlagenwerk, d.h. eine autoritative Darstellung des Milieuansatzes von SINUS und dessen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten, also eine - möglichst breit zugängliche - Veröffentlichung, die die Gültigkeit der Sinus-Milieus im Kontext der soziokulturellen Dynamik begründet, ihre Aktualität in Zeiten von Digitalisierung und Globalisierung untermauert und ihren Nutzwert für Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft wie für den institutionellen Bereich deutlich macht. Das vorliegende Buch liefert Informationen über die Sinus-Milieus "direkt von der Quelle", aus Sicht der Erfinder, Entwickler und Anwender des Ansatzes. Geschrieben haben die hier zusammengestellten Essays die wissenschaftlichen Beiräte, Gesellschafter, Mitarbeiter, Kunden und Partner der für die Sinus-Milieus verantwortlich zeichnenden Schwesterinstitute SINUS (Heidelberg/Berlin/Singapur) und INTEGRAL (Wien). Die Beiträge zeigen auf, aus ihrer je eigenen Perspektive und Erfahrung, was es mit den Sinus-Milieus auf sich hat und wozu sie gut sind. In der Sportwissenschaft wird dem Faktor "Feedback", also der Rückmeldung, bereits seit längerem eine erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit zugesprochen. Traditionell konzipierte Feedbackstudien reduzierten häufig die Komplexität der im Feedbackprozess stattfindenden Interaktionen und beschränkten sich entweder auf den Bereich der grundlagenorientierten "Motor learning-Forschung", auf deskriptive Untersuchungen des beobachtbaren Feedbacks von TrainerInnen oder LehrerInnen oder untersuchten die Effektivität des Feedbacks auf den Lernfortschritt. Hierdurch kam es häufig zu Einschränkungen des Gegenstands(vor)verständnisses. In der dargestellten Untersuchung wird versucht, der Komplexität des Feedbackprozesses dadurch gerecht zu werden, dass die Analyse der äußeren, beobachtbaren Aspekte der Handlung ergänzt wird durch die Rekonstruktion der kognitiven Prozesse, resp. impliziten Theorien bei TrainerInnen und ihren AthletInnen. Gemäß dem zugrunde liegenden Gegenstandsvorverständnis ist im Sinne des epistemologischen Subjektmodells anzunehmen, dass sowohl TrainerInnen als auch die von ihnen betreuten AthletInnen implizite Feedbacktheorien ausgebildet haben, die für die Entwicklung sportlicher Techniken als optimal lernfördernd angesehen werden. Stimmen nun die subjektiven Theorien eines Trainers/einer Trainerin über das optimale Feedbackhandeln mit denen seines Athleten/seiner Athletin im wesentlichen überein. In dezidierter Orientierung am "Forschungsprogramm Subjektive Theorien" nach GROEBEN, WAHL, SCHLEE und SCHEELE (1988) wurden in 25 TrainerIn-AthletIn-Paarungen aus dem Hochleistungsbereich der Leichtathletik Subjektive Feedbacktheorien (SFTs) der TrainerInnen mit den Subjektiven Theorien der von ihnen betreuten AthletInnen zunächst mit einer eigens dafür entwickelten Methode (re)konstruiert und anschließend miteinander verglichen. Ergänzend hierzu wurden die SFTs der TrainerInnen mit ihrem beobachtbaren Verhalten im Trainingsalltag verglichen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass ausgehend von den 25 TrainerIn-AthletIn Dyaden in 15 Paarungen eine wesentliche Übereinstimmung der verbalisierten Theorien zu beobachten ist, zwischen rekonstruierter SFT der TrainerInnen und ihrem Verhalten betrug die Übereinstimmung durchschnittlich 60%.

Objectives: Research on the genetic basis of tinnitus is still in its first steps. A group of scientists dedicated to tinnitus genetics within European Tinnitus Network (TINNET) network recognize that further progress requires multicenter collaborative efforts for defining contributing genes. The purpose of the present work is to provide instructions regarding collection, processing, storage, and shipment of samples intended for genetic studies in auditory research. Design: One part of the recommendations has a general character; another part is of particular importance for auditory healthcare practitioners such as otolaryngology physicians, audiologists, and general practitioners. Results: We provide a set of instructions and various options for obtaining samples. We give advice regarding sample processing, storage, and shipment and define the minimal and essential clinical information that should accompany the samples collected for genetic processing. Conclusions: These recommendations offer a basis to standardize and optimize collaborations between geneticists and healthcare practitioners specialized in tinnitus and hearing disorders. ; The work was supported by an independent research program funded under the Biomedicine and Molecular Biosciences European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action framework (TINNET, BM1306) and from the European Union H2020 research and innovation program under the MSC-ITN 722046 (Schlee et al. 2017).

Subjective tinnitus is the conscious perception of sound in the absence of any acoustic source. The literature suggests various tinnitus mechanisms, most of which invoke changes in spontaneous firing rates of central auditory neurons resulting from modification of neural gain. Here, we present an alternative model based on evidence that tinnitus is: (1) rare in people who are congenitally deaf, (2) common in people with acquired deafness, and (3) potentially suppressed by active cochlear implants used for hearing restoration. We propose that tinnitus can only develop after fast auditory fiber activity has stimulated the synapse formation between fast-spiking parvalbumin positive (PV+) interneurons and projecting neurons in the ascending auditory path and coactivated frontostriatal networks after hearing onset. Thereafter, fast auditory fiber activity promotes feedforward and feedback inhibition mediated by PV+ interneuron activity in auditory-specific circuits. This inhibitory network enables enhanced stimulus resolution, attention-driven contrast improvement, and augmentation of auditory responses in central auditory pathways (neural gain) after damage of slow auditory fibers. When fast auditory fiber activity is lost, tonic PV+ interneuron activity is diminished, resulting in the prolonged response latencies, sudden hyperexcitability, enhanced cortical synchrony, elevated spontaneous y oscillations, and impaired attention/stress-control that have been described in previous tinnitus models. Moreover, because fast processing is gained through sensory experience, tinnitus would not exist in congenital deafness. Electrical cochlear stimulation may have the potential to reestablish tonic inhibitory networks and thus suppress tinnitus. Exiled populations, who increasingly refer to themselves as diaspora communities, hold a strong stake in the fate of their countries of origin. In a world becoming ever more interconnected, they engage in 'long-distance politics' towards, send financial remittances to and support social development in their homelands. Transnational diaspora networks have thus become global forces shaping the relationship between countries, regions and continents. This important intervention, written by scholars working at the cutting edge of diaspora and conflict, challenges the conventional wisdom that diaspora are all too often warmongers, their time abroad causing them to become more militant in their engagement with local affairs. Rather, they can and should be a force for good in bringing peace to their home countries.
