This article examines a set of Uruguayan magazines first published as a local response to the dangers of German National Socialist progress during the Second World War. Starting from plot theory as a world fiction in force at the time (Louis 2007) and the debates of the national political context, it analyzes the representation and uses of the Nazi threat that these publications exhibit. The work highlights the ways in which these magazines collaborated with the hybridization of the imaginary of Nazism and the dissemination of a narrative of fear and suspicion. Moreover, the study of these "anti-Nazi" publications allows us to shed light on individual intellectual paths and sketch the continuity of a network of Uruguayan anti-fascist writers forged during the 1930s under the experience of Terra's dictatorship and the adherence to the cause of Republican Spain. ; En este artículo se examina un conjunto de revistas uruguayas que iniciaron su publicación como respuesta local a los peligros del avance del nacionalsocialismo alemán durante la Segunda Guerra. Partiendo de la teoría del complot como ficción mundial vigente en la época (Louis 2007) y de los debates del contexto político nacional, se analiza la representación y los usos de la amenaza nazi que exhiben estas publicaciones. El trabajo pone en evidencia cómo las revistas colaboraron con la hibridación del imaginario del nazismo y con la difusión de una narrativa del temor y la sospecha. El estudio de estas publicaciones "antinazis" permite, asimismo, echar luces sobre trayectorias intelectuales individuales y esbozar la continuidad de una red de escritores uruguayos antifascistas forjada en la década del treinta bajo la experiencia de la dictadura de Terra y de la adhesión a la causa de la España republicana

During the first half of the 1940s and in the context of World War II, Disney studios produced a large number of propaganda films with the support and supervision of the US government. Among these were Saludos Amigos (1942) and The Three Caballeros (1944), two animation films to strategically improve diplomatic relations with Latin America. Although various authors have studied both productions, they have generally been indifferent to the dimension of sound and music, a component that turned out to be one of the most persuasive and strategic resources deployed by the US government, through the film industry, to appeal to the emotionalities of American audiences in pursuit of its hegemony project. This article analyzes both productions' music to help counteract this by thinking about how it contributes to reinforcing their propaganda language. Likewise, towards the end of this article, a brief reflection on childhood is offered, both as one more recipient of a propaganda language abundant in chaos, sexualization, and other narrative elements close to Hollywood's representational language, but far from other Disney productions of the period and the cultural codes related to childhood. In addition, it reflects on the indifference towards childhood present in the academic literature reviewed, this despite the close relationship of Disney productions with the children's world. ; Durante la primera mitad de la década de 1940 y en el contexto de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, los estudios Disney produjeron, con apoyo y supervisión del gobierno estadounidense, una gran cantidad de filmes propagandísticos. The very nature of armed conflicts makes its effects extend to more territoriesthan those directly involved in the conflict. Thus, World War II impacted material, social and political level throughout Europe and other countries. In Argentina they have beenstudied economic, political and social phenomena resulting from what happened during the war but so far there was no news of the existence of architectural installations whose presence could be seen as local adaptation of a project originated in Germany. The work done at Teyú Cuaré site (San Ignacio, Misiones) allowed us to propose that those stone structures were built by the mid-1940s using local resources and materials but following a German design. The study revealed some singularities in the context ofthe region as well as novel architectural development with several functions. Material evidence associated to the structures reaffrmed the proposed relationshipbetween the place and foreign resources by including a variety of rare elements in sites of mid-twentieth century in our country and whose origin can be traced to the territorythen controlled by the Third Reich. ; La naturaleza intrínseca de los conflictos bélicos hace que sus efectos se extiendanhacia territorios más extensos que aquellos directamente involucrados en el conflicto. Así, la Segunda Guerra Mundial impactó a nivel material, social y político en toda Europa yotros países del mundo. El tema a trabajar será "Los movimientos nacionalistas y la clase obrera en Sudáfrica", en el período que va desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial hasta principios de la década del sesenta. Más específicamente se analizará cómo los movimientos nacionalistas sudafricanos, principalmente el A.N.C. (African National Congress), se ligan a un importante número de trabajadores africanos y a los sindicatos que los dirigen; se establecerá cuáles eran sus programas políticos y sus estrategias de luchas contra el gobierno de la Unión y el Imperio inglés para la independencia nacional; y a partir de esto se precisaran sus límites tácticos y programáticos, sosteniendo como hipótesis de trabajo que en Sudáfrica, dada la importancia estructural de la clase obrera, existió la posibilidad de un programa y una dirección política que organizara a los trabajadores con sus propios métodos de lucha y que fuera más allá de la independencia política y nacional, es decir una alternativa socialista; y que, para ello, definiera claramente que la lucha por la independencia debía ser en contra, no sólo del gobierno de la minoría blanca, sino también de los verdaderos beneficiarios del régimen de segregación y superexplotación: las empresas transnacionales de capitales extranjeros, principalmente británicos. Para sostener esta hipótesis se realizará un análisis estructural de las distintas clases sociales en Sudáfrica desde una mirada marxista, como así también se analizarán las diversas luchas llevadas adelantes por los trabajadores sudafricanos y las respuestas que a éstas dieron los partidos y sindicatos que las dirigieron. ; The subject to work will be "the nationalistic movements and the working class in South Africa", in the period that goes from World War II until the beginning of the Sixties. More specifically one will analyze how the South African nationalistic movements, mainly A.N.C. (African National Congress), they league together to an important number of African workers and to the unions direct that them; one will settle down which were their political programs and their strategies of fights against the government of the Union and the English Empire for national independence; and from this to establish its tactical and programmatic limits, maintaining like hypothesis of work that in South Africa, given the structural importance of the working class, existed the possibility of a program and a Political Directorate that organized of the workers with its own methods of fight and that outside beyond political and national independence, that is to say a socialist alternative; and that, for it, it clearly defined that the fight by independence had against to be, not only of the government of the white minority, but also of the true beneficiaries of the regime of segregation and over-exploitation: the transnational companies of foreign capitals, mainly British. In order to maintain this hypothesis a structural analysis of the different social classes will be realized in South Africa from a Marxist glance, as thus also the diverse taken fights are analyzed you advance by the South African workers and the answers that to these gave the parties and unions directed that them.

The study of the origins and early years of the Fourth International acquires a special relevance when considering them as part of the process of construction and criticism of the organizational and political tools of the working class that continues to this day. From its origins, the Fourth International was marked by political disputes within the Communist International, by the first positions as the Left Opposition, by the persecution of Trotskyist sympathizers and by the assassination of Leon Trotsky. Thus, this book is based on the need and the importance of investigating the history of Socialist Internationals in the key of an international history of socialism, insofar as the local and regional expressions of this current can be comprehensively understood through comparative and transnational analysis.

Trotskyists under Nazi terror. A history of the Fourth International during World War II, develops a historical analysis of the political perspective carried out by the Fourth International in Europe during World War II through the comparative study of the French, North American, Belgian and British sections. Taking as one of the central axes the resurgence of the discussion on the national question in Europe, it is observed how the crisis of the Fourth International did not begin with the debate on entryism in 1953 but ten years before, due to the difficulties of the organization to adapt to the new European scenario inaugurated in mid-1943 with the deposition of Benito Mussolini and the beginning of the "bourgeois-democratic counterrevolution" from the intervention of the United States during the last years of the war.

The purpose of this article is to analyse the migratory movement of Jewish refugees caused by the Second World War and Nazi violence. For this, the present work reconstructs and examines the journey of a Jewish woman who escaped from Poland and who sought refuge in Argentina, around the year 1941. From the perspective of social history and with a qualitative methodology, the work explores, though her travel log, her feelings and reflections regarding the relatives who had remained in Europe, the dramatic consequences of the war and the forced migrations. Her expressions of gratitude for the help she received during her migratory journey, as well as, in contrast, her negative opinions about certain attitudes and policies (for example those of the Soviet Union) draw upon her migration experiences, set in a key phase of the advancement of the Nazi terror, before the establishment of the so called «Final solution». Another situation that underlies this work revolves around the feeling of sorrow and the weight that came from her being the only member of her family that was saved, a concern common to other refugees and Jewish survivors of the Shoá. ; El propósito de este artículo es analizar el movimiento migratorio de refugiados judíos derivado de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y de la violencia nazi. Para ello, el trabajo reconstruye y examina la travesía migratoria de una mujer judía que escapó de Polonia y se refugió en Argentina, al promediar el año 1941. Desde una perspectiva de historia social y con una metodología cualitativa, el trabajo explora, a través de su diario de viaje, sus sentimientos y reflexiones en torno a los familiares que permanecieron en Europa, las dramáticas consecuencias de la guerra y las migraciones forzosas. Argumento que, tanto sus expresiones de agradecimiento por las ayudas recibidas en su trayectoria migratoria como, en contraste, sus opiniones negativas frente a determinadas actitudes y políticas (por ejemplo las de la Unión Soviética) recorrieron sus experiencias de migración, situadas, además, en una etapa clave del avance del terror nazi, antes del establecimiento de la denominada «Solución Final». Otro de los supuestos que subyace en este trabajo gira en torno a los sentimientos de dolor y el peso que significaron para ella haber sido la única de su familia que se salvó, preocupación común a otros refugiados y sobrevivientes judíos de la Shoá. ; Cet article se propose d'analyser le mouvement migratoire de réfugiés juifs dérivé de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et de la violence nazi. Pour ce faire, ce texte reconstitue et examine la traversée migratoire d'une femme juive qui avait échappé de Pologne pour se réfugier en Argentine en 1941. Dans une perspective d'histoire sociale et avec une méthodologie qualitative, cet article explore, à partir du journal intime de la femme en question, les sentiments et les réflexions autour des gens de sa famille ayant resté en Europe, les conséquences dramatiques de la guerre et les migrations forcées. Les expressions de reconnaissance pour l'aide qu'elle a reçu pendant sa migration, ainsi que les opinions défavorables qu'elle portait sur quelques décisions politiques (par exemple, celles de l'Union Soviétique) traversent ses expériences de migration, situées dans un moment clé de l'avance de l'horreur nazi, peu avant la «la solution finale». Par ailleurs, ce texte revient sur les sentiments de douleur concernant le fait qu'elle a été la seule de sa famille à être sauvée, une préoccupation commune à d'autres réfugiés et survivants juifs de la Shoa.

The objective of this article was to initiate a dialogue between history and eschatology from the experience of human suffering in God. Therefore, the dialectical method will be addressed in order to establish a hermeneutical reflection that allows understanding the suffering of the present from the force of the past and the commitment to the future. For this, the theological thought of Johann Baptist Metz and other authors will be fundamental, as, from the author's theological-political proposal and from the provocative memory in the context of a highly globalized world, he vindicates the problem of theodicy from the experience of man who suffers and claims to God its imminent end. Now, within the academic world of theology, several efforts have been made to structure a political theology that looks at the world, since the Christian faith is faith with open eyes, but it has not obtained the necessary reception within the academic world or in the formal ecclesial context. The efforts made after the rise of the Second Vatican Council aroused in 1968 a cry from the oppressed, the poor and the suffering, which is still unknown in both the Latin American and European contexts. Consequently, this dialogue between history and eschatology is born, in which the singularity of faith will be addressed, first, in the context of a new nominalism; second, the secularization of the fruit of the enlightened bourgeois man and modernity, and, finally, the relationship between memory and hope will be concretely outlined in the context of Auschwitz. ; El objetivo de este artículo fue iniciar un diálogo entre historia y escatología desde la experiencia del sufrimiento humano en Dios. Por tanto, se abordará el método dialéctico para establecer una reflexión hermenéutica que permita comprender el sufrimiento del presente desde la fuerza del pretérito y el compromiso con el futuro. Para ello, será fundamental el pensamiento teológico de Johann Baptist Metz y de otros autores, quien desde su propuesta teológico-política y desde la memoria provocadora en el contexto de un mundo altamente globalizado reivindica el problema de la teodicea desde la experiencia del hombre que sufre y reclama a Dios el fin inminente de este. Ahora bien, dentro del mundo académico de la teología, se han realizado varios esfuerzos por estructurar una teología política que mire al mundo, pues la fe cristiana es fe con los ojos abiertos, pero no ha obtenido la recepción necesaria dentro del mundo académico ni en el contexto eclesial formal. Los esfuerzos realizados después del auge del Concilio Vaticano II despertaron en 1968 un clamor del oprimido, del pobre y del sufriente, que aún se desconoce tanto en el contexto latinoamericano como en el europeo. En consecuencia, nace este diálogo entre historia y escatología, en el cual se abordará, primero, la singularidad de la fe en el contexto de un nuevo nominalismo; segundo, la secularización del fruto del hombre burgués ilustrado y la modernidad, y, finalmente, se esbozará concretamente la relación entre memoria y esperanza en el contexto de Auschwitz.

In spite of the neutrality declared by the Spanish government during the Second World War, this European military conflict sparkles off an ardent clash between two camps: Germanophiles and Francophiles, that is, between the defenders of the German Empire and those who support France. At the beginning of the 20th century there is an enormous interest in the German culture among the Spanish people; however, the image of Germany in Spain changes radically from 1914. The Spanish press echoes this ideological confrontation which is leaded by the intellectuals of the moment. The most representative figures of the Spanish thinking take an active part in politics, signing passionate manifestos that are published in the most important newspapers. The inclusion of a majority of influential intellectuals in the anti-German camp generates a social rejection and a generalized lack of interest in the German culture in Spain.

This essay examines the case of the Italian immigration in the Colombian Caribbean region between the ends of the nineteen century to the Second World War. The analysis of the Italian and Colombian sources of different nature- bibliographic, documents files, literary, iconographies, oral- let to reconstruct the experiences of the Italian community in Barranquilla and in other areas as the banana plantation region as Calabria, Basilicata, and Campania and with an urban character which had an emphasis in the business activity, being composed by artisans and small rural owners, who were often political guided. Between the two world wars, the socialist inspiration of many immigrants were in conflict with the fascist organization project of the established Italians abroad, while their social upgrade- in craft, trade and industry-open many times the way to attaches to the freemasonry and contributes in an special way to modernize the reception zones. ; Este ensayo examina el caso de la inmigración italiana en la región del Caribe colombiano entre el final del siglo XIX y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. En este artículo se van a analizar las complejidades de la maquinaria económica e industrial alemana durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Dejando a un lado los viejos mitos acerca de la eficacia y eficiencia alemanas, se analizará en este trabajo la estructura de la economía alemana antes y durante el conflicto, haciendo especial referencia en los instrumentos organizativos y de control. Los efectos de la estructura económica tuvieron amplia repercusión de la elaboración de los planes estratégicos después de 1933, y fueron especialmente responsables de la derrota de Alemania como consecuencia directa del solapamiento de diversas estructuras económicas e industriales que acabaron mermando tanto la eficiencia como le eficacia del complejo industrial alemán. Igualmente, fueron un factor decisivo a la hora de elaborar planes estratégicos de tipo militar. ; In this paper we will analyze the complexities of the German economic and industrial machinery during the Second World War. Leaving aside the old myths about German efficiency, it focuses on the particular structure of the German economy before and during the war, with special reference to the instruments of organization and control. The effects of the economic structure had an enormous impact on the preparation of the strategic plans after 1933 and were especially responsible for the defeat of Germany as a direct result of the overlapping of several economic and industrial structures, which undermined the efficiency. They were also a decisive factor in the development of military strategic plans.

El caso polaco, estudiado por Carla Tonini, es un ejemplo particularmente interesante de "transición negociada" del comunismo a la democracia. Tal transición fue posible gracias a la renuncia de considerar al pasado reciente como un terreno en disputa.
