It is advanced that reproductive technologies (RT) & the discourse of reproductive rights (RR) have the potential to either advance women's independence or curtail their rights. Additional RR under consideration extend beyond RT, eg, to include whether there is a right to bear & raise children in a healthy & supportive environment, & to challenges of the notion of human reproduction. Issues inherent in the RR discourse include: the potential for social control over individual women; the collective interests of the state, biological or social fathers, & professionals involved in implementation of RT; & rights of the fetus. Inherent limitations of judicial rights include ideological justification of the status quo & unequal gender power relations. 32 References. V. Wagener

A loglinear analysis was conducted of the processing by a midwestern metropolitan juvenile court of 9,223 delinquency cases to demonstrate recent changes in justice research. By focusing on several stages within the decision-making process (detention, screening, & final disposition), the impact that early decisions have on subsequent decisions is examined, & the interdependence of legal variables (offense type, prior record), social variables (race, gender), & process variables (detention decision, screening decision) illustrated. 6 Tables, 26 References.
