This article explores the institution of the public notary in Colombia as an important place for legality where we can appreciate different mechanisms through which law is productive of space and space shapes understandings of the legitimacy of law. I study the notary as a material and social space of interactions between persons (parties, lawyers and public officials), non-human actors (seals, signatures, fingerprints) and practices (solemn oaths, making of deeds). I highlight three aspects. First, at the notary the relationship between the private and public orders is enacted. Private actions (birth, marriage or sell of property) once notarized through the stamping of the seal are now public acts. Second, contrary to think of the notary as space empty of law since it does not solve any legal controversies, I argue that particular legal knowledge practices at the notary consolidate processes of individuation and reification essential for the making of both, persons (criticizes) and things (property); these practices are also key in the making of the state's authority. Finally, I review the relationship between the notary and the instrument (the sealed document) to reveal the importance of certain ideas such as "public faith". These ideas allow the notary to detach him/herself from the agency of the instrument; however, inherent indeterminacies remain in these configurations that reveal the temporal and variable character of the reality the notary attest to. This is important because when we partake in the formalization regimes happening at these places, we implicitly accept and maintain some of these cognitive constructions that constitute important pillars for both, the market and the state.

Achieving a collection of standardized, normalized and official place names have been a constant objective for geographic information managers. Place names are a key component of a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), because they provide a unique identification for each geographic feature. Their diffusion and application via gazetteers have been extended over all knowledge areas and have become an invaluable cultural heritage of the referred territorial entity. This paper introduces a place name web search application of Territorial Information System of Aragon (SITAR), which provides a double perspective: on the one hand, it provides the dissemination of place names hosted and compiled by the Government of Aragón (a Spanish autonomous region); and on the other hand, it provides a web tool for citizen participation in order to review and improve quality of compiled place names. ; Lograr una recopilación de nombres de lugar estandarizados, normalizados y oficiales ha sido una constante preocupación entre los gestores de información geográfica. Los topónimos constituyen una pieza clave en una Infraestructura de Datos Espaciales (IDE), ya que proporcionan la identificación inequívoca de los lugares en el territorio. Su difusión y aplicación mediante nomenclátores se ha extendido a todos los ámbitos del conocimiento y constituyen un inestimable patrimonio cultural para la entidad territorial a la que se refieren. El buscador web de nombres geográficos del Sistema de Información Territorial de Aragón (SITAR) presenta una doble visión: la difusión de los topónimos recopilados por el Gobierno de Aragón, así como una herramienta de participación ciudadana para la revisión y mejora continua de la calidad de los mismos.

El Sistema de Información Territorial de Aragón (SITAR) es la herramienta tecnológica que nace como resultado de la aplicación de las competencias en materia de ordenación territorial de Aragón. Su nacimiento y evolución posterior viene influenciado tanto por el propio desarrollo legislativo autonómico como por las exigencias que la Unión Europea, la comunidad científica y la sociedad reclaman a este tipo de plataformas de información pública. En el presente artículo se detallarán los aspectos tecnológicos más destacados en la evolución paradigmática de SITAR hacia una Infraestructura de Datos Espaciales así como, las incidencias y avances encontrados en el desarrollo de esta herramienta. ; The Aragón Territorial Information System (SITAR) is a technological tool that was born as a result of the application of the autonomous competencies on territorial management that the constitution and the reginal statute ensure to the Aragonian people. Its creation and subsequent developments are influenced by the requirements that the regional legislation, the European Union, the scientific community and the society that are demanding from this type of public information platforms. This article details the most important aspects of the SITAR in relation to its technological evolution towards an spatial data infrastructure and also the incidents and findings that occurred while developing this tool.

Este libro nació en una conversación entre los editores unas semanas antes del 2 de octubre del 2016, día en que el Acuerdo de Paz de la Habana fue sometido a plebiscito. Como muchos colombianos, nos enfrascamos en una discusión sobre diversos aspectos de lo pactado por el gobierno colombiano y las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia —FARC—. Esta inquietud de dos personas se transformó en un diálogo de veintitrés. Así, esta obra es una contribución de la Facultad de Jurisprudencia de la Universidad del Rosario al debate del fin del conflicto armado y la construcción de paz en Colombia. En él, participan profesores de esta y otras universidades colombianas con el fin de presentar una reflexión académica desde los estudios socio-jurídicos de los alcances, limitaciones y oportunidades de aprendizaje del proceso de paz y acuerdo logrado en 2016 con las FARC. En este contexto, este libro responde a la necesidad de promover una discusión informada sobre el papel del derecho y de los abogados en la estructuración e implementación de iniciativas de paz. Luego de tantos años en que los académicos han estudiado en el país la interacción conflicto armado y derecho, es esencial dar paso a una reflexión profunda que concatene esta disciplina con los escenarios de paz. ; This book is the outcome of a conversation between its editors several weeks before October 2, 2016, the date on which the Colombian people were to vote whether to approve the Havana Peace Agreement. Like many Colombians, we discussed different aspects and challenges of the agreement between the Colombian Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia –farc–. This conversation between two people soon became a dialogue among twenty-three authors. This volume is a contribution of Universidad del Rosario's Law School to the ongoing debate around the end of the armed conflict and peacebuilding in Colombia. Professors from Universidad del Rosario and other Colombian universities shared their articles to offer insights from the socio-legal perspective to the debate on the Peace Agreement's advantages and disadvantages, and lessons learned in this process. In this context, this work aims at promoting an informed discussion on the role of the law and lawyers in designing and implementing peace initiatives. After many years in which scholars have devoted their research to understand the interplay between the internal armed conflict and the law, it is time to begin an in-depth analysis of the interaction between the law and post-conflict scenarios.
