Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of incumbent employees' corporate social responsibility (CSR) perceptions toward multiple stakeholders on their organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) within the context of the tourism and hospitality sector in Turkey. It also aims to examine the mediating role of job satisfaction in these relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 215 white-collar employees working full-time in non-managerial positions of hotels and travel services in Istanbul and Antalya regions of Turkey, using a self-administrated questionnaire. The research hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis.
Findings
The result of the study showed that two of the four CSR dimensions, namely, CSR toward society and environment and government, had a significant and positive effect on OCB. On the other hand, CSR toward employee was the only variable among the four dimensions of CSR perception that had a significant and positive effect on employee job satisfaction. The finding of the mediation analysis unfortunately failed to support the mediation effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between CSR perceptions and OCB.
Research limitations/implications
The study was limited to the Turkish tourism and hospitality sector. Thus, these findings may not be generalized to other sectors or countries. Future research should consider other sectors both in Turkey and other countries to extend the generalizability of the findings of this study.
Practical implications
This paper indicates that employees working in tourism and hospitality sector are highly concerned about their organizational, legal, societal and environmental social activities, which subsequently make them engage in extra role behaviors. Organizations are hereby advised that government law and regulation abiding, society and environmental social activities are very important in the effective functioning of the organizations and improving their service quality, which in turn can help increase their profits and long-term value creation.
Originality/value
Scholars in the area of CSR often explore the effect of a single dimension of CSR. Therefore, this paper contributes to the body of literature by examining the effect of employees' CSR perceptions toward multiple stakeholders on employee behavior. Further, it is one of the few papers that highlights the positive effect of legal dimension of CSR on employee behavior within the context of the tourism and hospitality sector.
In this era, technology is playing a central role in many areas of human life, but the classical hardcopy-based approaches are still being used for land registration. The Internet-based methods provide excellent facilities for overcoming the drawbacks handwritten-based style and communication among different government sectors. Nowadays, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is used to build professional electronic systems as big steps towards the Electronic government (E-government) system. One of the most important section of the E-government is the E-Land-Registration (ELR). Duhok Land Directorate, together with its sub-directorates work on a huge amount of data to process. These directorates suffer from the classical hardcopy-based approaches, so building an ELR system will reduce both the time consumption and paper waste. The improvement of the land registration system will also allow integration with the E-government system. The improvement of the land registration will enable communication between the land registration staff in one side and administration and financial directorates on the other. In this thesis, an efficient ELR system for Duhok land registration is proposed. The services of the database management system cover Employee Registration Module, Estates Registration Module, Operation Type Module, Estate Owners Module, Estate Status Module, View Information Module, and Login Employee Module. HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, and Bootstrap tools were used for the design and implementation stages of the proposed ELR. ; TABLE OF CONTENTS Page ACKNOWLEDGMENT……….……………………………………….……………………….……HA TA! The impression that work can be good for a worker's health is a powerful one especially when it is combined with the idea that returning people to work may also have positive benefits for employers and government, physical and vocational rehabilitation and reintegration assumes even greater significance. The Social Security Organization of Malaysia (SOCSO) is a statutory body governing the Employment Accident Insurance Scheme and the Invalidity Pension Scheme. SOCSO covers over 6 million workers and processes over 70,000 new claims annually. SOCSO introduced the RTW Program in 2007 which is a comprehensive multidisciplinary biopsychosocial rehabilitation program for its Insured Persons who are experiencing disability due to accidents in the workplace or those claiming for invalidity. This rehabilitation program is unique as it involves the concept of "disability management" in which each Insured Person who is referred to the program, is assigned to a Disability Case Manager who is actively involved throughout the return to work process. This presentation discusses the justification of introducing the RTW programme in Malaysia, with reference to the underlying rationale, association between work and rehabilitation, evidence to establish a positive relationship between health and work, and the benefits of RTW for employees, employers and SOCSO. Up to date (December 2013), 11,090 workers were motivated to participate in the SOCSO RTW Programme and 7,881 (71%) have returned to gainful employment. This clearly shows the success of the RTW Programme in not only returning a disabled worker to work but to give them their lives back. Due to this success, SOCSO has started to build its National Rehabilitation Centre for the purpose of RTW which will be ready in mid-2014. However, there is still room for improvements which establish the way forward for SOCSO in creating a more disability-management-centric system.

Housing is one of the essential needs of man's survival which protects him against the weather and other harsh conditions. For housing to fulfil this basic need, it has to be qualitatively and quantitatively adequate. The factors which determine housing quality in selected residential neighbourhoods of the Bauchi metropolis were examined in this paper. Data for the study was collected from 300 households in the study area and was analysed using descriptive statistics and a non-parametric test (Independent-Samples Kruskal-Wallis Test). Housing quality in the study area is determined by the building design, roofing materials, wall materials, condition of buildings, age, internal and external facilities, etc. The quality of houses in the study area was significantly different across the neighbourhoods. However, there is no statistically significant difference across the three communities regarding the roofing materials used. This paper concludes that the government and related agencies should provide the essential services needed to improve the lives of households residing within the study area.
