Gegenstand der Untersuchung ist der Verlauf der Reform des Bankensektors in Staaten mit fortgeschrittener marktorientierter Transformation, vor allem Ungarn und Polen. Der Verfasser stellt zunächst das hier angewandte dreistufige Reformmodell dar (Aufspaltung der Staatsbank in staatliche Geschäftsbanken, Liberalisierung des Bankensektors, Privatisierung der staatlichen Banken). Er diskutiert Auswirkungen auf die Entwicklung des Geldangebots und formuliert Konsequenzen für eine den Bedingungen postkommunistischer Übergangsgesellschaften angepasste Geldmengen- und Mindestreservepolitik. Abschließend wird ein alternatives Reformmodell für die Reform des Bankensektors in postkommunistischen Übergangsgesellschaften entwickelt. (BIOst-Wpt)
