Data collected with the ATLAS detector from proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb−1, are analysed. The search is performed using top-quark pair events, with one top quark decaying through the t → qZ (q = u, c) flavour-changing neutral-current channel, and the other through the dominant Standard Model mode t → bW. Only Z boson decays into charged leptons and leptonic W boson decays are considered as signal. Consequently, the final-state topology is characterized by the presence of three isolated charged leptons (electrons or muons), at least two jets, one of the jets originating from a b-quark, and missing transverse momentum from the undetected neutrino. The data are consistent with Standard Model background contributions, and at 95% confidence level the search sets observed (expected) upper limits of 1.7 × 10−4 (2.4 × 10−4) on the t → uZ branching ratio and 2.4 × 10−4 (3.2 × 10−4) on the t → cZ branching ratio, constituting the most stringent limits to date.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]. ; publishersversion ; published

The different calibration steps applied to the data and the optimization of the reconstruction of electron and photon energies are discussed. The absolute energy scale is set using a large sample of Z boson decays into electron-positron pairs. The systematic uncertainty in the energy scale calibration varies between 0.03% to 0.2% in most of the detector acceptance for electrons with transverse momentum close to 45 GeV . For electrons with transverse momentum of 10 GeV the typical uncertainty is 0.3% to 0.8% and it varies between 0.25% and 1% for photons with transverse momentum around 60 GeV . AbstractAs systems of oppression (e.g., racism) become more evident in public consciousness, Asian American families are grappling with critical discussions about social justice and oppression. To define and explore these increasingly common conversations, we propose critical consciousness socialization as an important construct for socialization research among Asian American families. Critical consciousness socialization is the transmission of knowledge about, skills for, and behavioral orientations toward analyzing and challenging systems of oppression in the interest of social justice. This article applies theories in the developmental and family sciences (Phenomenological Variant of Ecological Systems Theory and Family Systems Theory) to demonstrate future research directions for critical consciousness socialization among Asian American families. Given research suggesting that families are purveyors of information about social justice and power, research on critical consciousness socialization is important to explore the role of the family system in advancing—and actively participating in—movements towards social justice.

The analysis is performed using 19.4 fb−1 of 𝑠√=8 TeV data recorded during Run 1 of the LHC and 36.1 fb−1 of 𝑠√=13 TeV data recorded during Run 2. Two-particle correlation functions are measured as a function of relative azimuthal angle over the relative pseudorapidity range 2<|Δ𝜂|<5 for different intervals of charged-particle multiplicity and transverse momentum. The measurements are corrected for the presence of background charged particles generated by collisions that occur during one passage of two colliding proton bunches in the LHC. Contributions to the two-particle correlation functions from hard processes are removed using a template-fitting procedure. Sinusoidal modulation in the correlation functions is observed and quantified by the second Fourier coefficient of the correlation function, 𝑣2,2, which in turn is used to obtain the single-particle anisotropy coefficient 𝑣2. The 𝑣2 values in the Z-tagged events, integrated over 0.5<𝑝T<5 GeV, are found to be independent of multiplicity and 𝑠√, and consistent within uncertainties with previous measurements in inclusive pp collisions. This report presents a brief literature review of childhood poverty in Peru, identifies key national audiences for the Young Lives study, explains the study methods used and presents provisional evidence, conclusions and policy implications. The Peruvian economy underwent a series of crises and external shocks in the 1980s and 1990s. The number of poor households rose rapidly from 43 per cent of the total in 1985-86 to 59 per cent in 1991. Despite reforms in the 1990s, Peru has one of the highest rates of income inequality in Latin America. Childhood poverty rates are higher than poverty rates in the general population. Health indicators reveal a large gap between rural and urban regions. Peru has the third highest child malnutrition rate in Latin America and the third worst ranking for nutritional inequality. In education, by contrast, the Peruvian government has made great strides. By 2000, primary school enrolment had almost become universal and around 73 per cent of 12- to 16-year-olds were enrolled in secondary education. There are no accurate statistics but it is also estimated that over two million children work in Peru. Among 14- to 17-year-olds that work, 40 per cent are out of school. Working children who are in school are, on average, two to four years behind their peers. Peru's Children and Adolescents Code, passed in 2000, brought national legislation into line with the standards of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, state agencies in charge of providing protection and services, are under-resourced. Young Lives research is providing a unique opportunity to identify how government policies and programmes could improve children's lives. We compare the silicophytolith record of current soils and Holocene palaeosols from two sedimentary sequences in a region between the Chaco-Pampean Plain and the Puna (Tolombón section in Santa María Valley, and Tafí del Valle section in Tafí Valley), NW Argentina. These two geographic areas are separated by the Aconquija-Cumbres Calchaquíes ranges, a climatic barrier to the wet Atlantic winds. These sequences contain volcanic ash deposits recording two large eruptions occurred during Holocene in the Southern Puna in the Central Volcanic Zone of the Andes, from the Cueros de Purulla volcano (ca. 7820 BP) and the Cerro Blanco Volcanic Complex (ca. 4200 cal BP). These ash-fall deposits buried soils and preserved their silicophytolith record, allowing the use of this palaeoenvironmental proxy to clarify the vegetation prior these two volcanic events. The silicophytolith assemblages yield evidence for a mega/mesothermal xerophytic grassland when Tolombón palaeosol was formed, similar to the present-day environment in the Santa María Valley, with presence of C4 grasses (Chloridoideae and Panicoidae). Instead, the climate was cooler and wetter ca. 4200 cal BP than currently in the Tafí Valley, increasing over time aridity and abundance of C4 grasses (Chloridoidae, Panicoideae), and decreasing the quantity of C3 grasses (Pooideae). Prehistorical and historical land use also contributed to this change. The impact of these large volcanic ash-falls on vegetation did not translate in an abrupt change on phytodiversity. No significant signals are observed, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, the observed (expected) upper limit at the 95% confidence level on the branching fraction β(H→ee)is 3.6 ×10−4(3.5 ×10−4) and on β(H→eμ)is 6.2 ×10−5(5.9 ×10−5). The analyses in the e +jets and μ +jets decay channels yield consistent results. The top quark mass is measured to be m =174.5±0.6±2.3 GeV.
