Pornoterrorism: Antisocial Dykes in the Spanish Transfeminist Movement ; Pornoterrorismo: bolleras antisociales en el movimiento transfeminista español
This article examines Pornoterrorismo (2011), written by Spanish transfeminist poet and performer Diana J. Torres. In this book, the author mixes autobiographical details with personal reflections that have motivated her work and includes a selection of pornoterrorista poetry. Through a close reading of the narrative and poetic voice, this essay shows how Pornoterrorismo constructs a transfeminist discourse of radical negativity based on the discursive figure of the dyke as a fractured, monstrous subject that ultimately expands the realm of queer negativity. First, I focus on how Torres explores the symbolic potential of dyke sexual practices throughout her narrative in order to challenge some of the underlaying assumptions in the original formulations of the antisocial thesis in queer theory originally elaborated by Lee Edelman and Leo Bersani. I will show how the dyke practices that Torres stages and that she describes in detail reveal the gender bias that marks the original theorization of the antisocial turn in queer theory. Second, I propose queer terrorism as a radical antisocial politics of transfeminist negativity. Here, I argue that there is an affective connection between Torres's performance with the material effects of terrorism that would be, precisely, that of provoking terror in a heteronormative society. Through the affective violence that is given off through her autobiographical account until the adoption of her artistic name, as well as a detailed analysis of her poem «Hijxs de puta» [Kids of Bitches], I will show how queer terrorism shapes the pornoterrorista answer to the attacks of a heteronormative society. Ultimately, this article aims to contribute to the study and delimitation of a transfeminist literary corpus written by its protagonists —texts that share a legitimization of life experience with a broadening, adaptation, or reinterpretation of feminist queer theory, situated in the contemporary Spanish context. ; En este artículo analizo la obra Pornoterrorismo (2011), escrita por la ...

Harmful Drinking Phenotype in a Large Dutch Community Sample
In: Alcohol and alcoholism: the international journal of the Medical Council on Alcoholism (MCA) and the journal of the European Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ESBRA)
ISSN: 1464-3502
Abstract
Aims
Harmful drinking patterns are shaped by a broad complex interaction of factors, societal and individual, psychological and behavioral. Although previous studies have focused on a few variables at a time, the current study simultaneously examines a large number of variables in order to create a comprehensive view (i.e. phenotype) of harmful drinking, and to rank the main predictors of harmful and non-harmful drinking by order of importance.
Methods
We surveyed a large sample of Dutch adults about their habitual drinking characteristics and attitudes, perceptions and motives for drinking. We fed 45 variables into a random forest machine learning model to identify predictors for (1) drinking within and in excess of Dutch guideline recommendations and (2) harmful and non-harmful drinking.
Results
In both models, respondents' subjective perceptions of 'responsible drinking', both per occasion and per week, showed the strongest predictive potential for different drinking phenotypes. The next strongest factors were respondents' reason for drinking, motives for drinking and age. Other variables, such as drinking location, knowledge about alcohol-related health risks and consumption of different beverage types, were not strong predictors of drinking phenotypes.
Conclusions
Although the direction of the relationship is unclear from the findings, they suggest that interventions and policy measures aimed at individuals and social norms around drinking may offer promise for reducing harmful drinking. Messaging and promotion of drinking guidelines should be tailored with this in mind.
Entrepreneurship education: Ireland's solution to economic regeneration?
The significance of entrepreneurship has come into sharper focus as enterprise and innovation are being flagged as solutions to regenerate the Irish economy. The Irish Innovation Task Force believes that Ireland could become an 'innovation hub', attracting foreign risk capital and international and indigenous entrepreneurs to start and grow companies in Ireland. To realize these ambitions, Ireland needs to create a favourable and stable ecosystem for entrepreneurs through policy, tax, regulation, supply of finance, education and R&D. Irish higher education institutions are being exhorted to play a pivotal role in the development of an enterprise culture through entrepreneurship education (EE) and the production of graduate entrepreneurs. If HEIs are to contribute to Ireland's economic recovery they need to produce graduates capable of applying their knowledge to start and grow their own businesses. Existing paradigms provide an inadequate understanding of the complexities inherent in the provision of entrepreneurship education in Irish HEIs and its role in producing greater numbers of graduate entrepreneurs. There is a need to bridge the credibility gap between government expectations and harsh entrepreneurial realities to determine whether EE is having a positive impact on graduate enterprise development. This paper focuses on EE in Irish higher education and addresses the difficulty of measuring its effectiveness in producing graduate entrepreneurs.
