Belize is a diverse Central American country with a population of approximately 324,528, of which over 54% live in rural communities. The Belizean population is made up of Mestizo, Afro-Creole, Maya, Garifuna, and Mennonite identities, along with other groups such as East Indian, Lebanese, and Chinese, making the country rich with diverse cultures. Despite the vast cultural diversity of Belize, cultural constructions of femininity and masculinity have led to strong gender-based structures resulting in high rates of violence against women. According to the World Health Organization, 70.34% of Belizean women living in rural communities report experiencing episodes of intimate partner violence. In order to truly understand the phenomenon of violence against women, it must be conceptualized within the cultural context of Belize. In this paper, the author analyzes interviews with Belizean women from rural communities in central Belize who have been victims of violence at the hands of their intimate partners. Utilizing the theoretical perspective of intersectionality to explore how rurality shapes structural, political, and representational aspects of violence against Belizean women, this study will provide a robust understanding of Belizean women as victims of intimate partner violence. Policy implications are provided that would strengthen the social, cultural, and economic role of women in Belize. This research adds to the body of literature focusing on the victimization of women in rural communities.

This study explores the lived experience of two African American women working at predominately white institutions of higher education. A review of the literature suggests research that examines the experiences of African American women in academe is limited. Using an autoethnographic approach, we explore our experiences and how we navigate our roles. Findings suggest that when the appropriate mentoring is in place African American women have a more positive experience navigating the promotion and tenure process.

This study is a collaborative investigation that melds traditional qualitative social scientific and contemporary autoethnographic methods to examine diversified mentoring relationships at a midsized midwestern state university (MMSU). The first author conducted 21 semi - structured interview s with MMSU faculty members and professional personnel who were members of underrepresented minority (URM) groups. A thematic analysis of the data, informed by the literature on developmental relationships and intergroup communication, reveals a number of problems with MMSU's formal mentoring program and intergroup communication climate. Moreover, the findings indicate that the quality of mentoring relationships affects protégés' co - cultural communication practices. The second author, who is also a participant in the project, interjects her personal reflections about diversified mentoring relationships throughout the analysis. Together, the authors give voice to participants' suggestions to improve the quality of mentoring that occurs in MMSU's contact space and explore the implications of the findings for future research about diversified mentoring relationships.

Within this paper, two Black women teaching at a predominantly white institution of higher education utilize critical co-constructed autoethnography to reflect on their experiences of using a Womanist approach to co-teach two capstone courses during a global pandemic. Womanism is an epistemology focused on the experiences and concerns of Black women. Using this collaborative inquiry technique, we explore how forms of systemic racism within predominantly white institutions affects our ability to teach and grow as researcher in our specific fields. Critical co-constructed autoethnography is a methodology steeped in critical theory, critical pedagogy, and critical race theory that reflects the tempo, uncertainty, and complexity of research relationships that creates spaces for collaborating researchers to work across differences. We conclude this paper by highlighting the value of using co-constructed autoethnography as a method of articulating the voices of those who have traditionally been underrepresented in academia. This method also allows for the congruency of voices, which is a limitation within traditional autoethnography.
