Introduction. This article presents an analysis of the key architectural structures and the general space of the historical center of Budapest in order to identify its key semantic, aesthetic, cultural dominants. The relevance of this article is due to the actual lack of reflection of the urban space of Budapest, although its relationship and structural similarities with the imperial cities of Europe are obvious. The scientific novelty of this article lies in the development and refinement of the modern content of the concept of an imperial city – a phenomenon that obviously exists in the absence of empires, its content, as it can be formalized on an individual example of the architectural appearance of Budapest.Methodology and sources. Since the analytical tools of modernity are thoroughly "national", while the empire cannot be described within the framework of any one model with help of any one metanarrative. Thus, the imperial city acts as an "archeology" understood in the spirit of the post-structuralist Foucainean paradigm, deconstructing the basic and normative ideas of the social sciences. Results and discussion. The specificity of the correlation of imperial markers in the urban space of Budapest consists in the following features: first of all, the theme of the "second capital" in comparison with Vienna is consonant with the general national theme of "orphan hood" of Hungarian culture; at the same time, an intricate combination of references to imperial markers and aesthetic and stylistic solutions to other European cities demonstrates the secondary and ephemeral, self-referential nature of these references. In addition, the sacred center of Budapest is not the main temple, but the Parliament building, which embodies the main national, cultural, ideological project.Conclusion. As a result of the study there were revealed the main features of the constitution of the imperial image of Budapest and the circumstances of its formation. Summarizing some of the most important historical trends that determined the architecture of Budapest, its aesthetic and architectural appearance and the influence that it experienced from other imperial cities, we can conclude that Budapest is a non-referential sign, reflection, and simulacrum of an imperial city that does not refer to any particular empire and to most empires at the same time.
The phenomenon of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture, considered in retrospect, is studied. Its consideration allows to fully understand the place and role of creative and instrumental performance of Ukrainian artists both in the history of musical culture of Ukraine and in terms of the development of musical culture in Europe.
The purpose of the article. To make a systematic review of the phenomenon of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture, in the XIX-XXI centuries, in terms of the contribution of Ukrainian musicians into the development of both the art of composition and performance (instrument — piano).
The methodology. Interdisciplinary approach has been applied, within which there is an appeal to cultural, art, psychological, historical, etc., scientific principles; we used activity-structural method in the direction of research of creative personality (pianist-composer), method of cultural-historical analysis (activity and historical significance of creativity of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture); applied intonation, genre-style and text-interpretation methods that contribute to the adequate assessment of the results of the creative process in the field of composition and performance; methods of biography and source studies used in the historical research aspect of assessing the importance of the personality of Ukrainian pianists-composers.
The results. A retrospective review of the work and instrumental and performance activities (piano) of Ukrainian pianists-composers in terms of their importance for Ukrainian musical culture and for world, European musical activity.
The scientific novelty. For the first time we made an attempt of a systematic diachronic analysis of the meaning of compositional and instrumental-performance activities (piano) of Ukrainian artists of the XIX–XXI centuries in terms of formation and further development of the domestic piano school with the simultaneous influence of the compositional activities of these individuals on the musical culture of Ukraine and the world.
The practical significance. Systematized presentation of historical and cultural, musicological, etc., characteristics of the phenomenon of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture, allows to apply its results in teaching at the level of specialized music institutions, in the segment of development of educational materials on this topic, to promote Ukrainian piano schools and compositional works of outstanding domestic artists, also in the direction of determining the projective trends in the development of domestic compositional and performing (piano) musical activities.
The purpose of the article. At the present stage, choral performance has reached a new level, which is characterized by increased attention to the artistic side of the performance, which is accompanied by a tendency to emotionality, dramatization, synthesis of different arts. Brightness and emotionality of choral performance is determined by the degree of emotional impact on the audience. The conductor together with his group strives for the artistic performance of the choir on the stage, for joint creativity. Emotions play a special role in working with a children's choir. Due to emotional influence, children's cognitive and mental activity increases, physiological and mental mechanisms of perception are activated.
Therefore, for children's choral performance it is important to understand theoretically the impact of emotions on the quality of choral intonation. Emotions are manifested at different levels of performance — from the initial (acquaintance in the work) to the concert. The purpose of the article is to identify aspects of the interaction of intonation and emotions in the work of the children's choir.
The methodology consists of in the application of general scientific principles of art history and cultural studies. The following approaches are used in the work: system-analytical approach — for studying art history, culturological, pedagogical literature; informational and historical-logical approaches — to consider the theoretical and methodological features of the children's choir.
The results. The degree of emotionality of choral performance is the main indicator of choral artistry, it's influence on the audience. Emotions are of paramount importance in working with a children's choir. The quality of choral intonation depends on emotions and is manifested at different levels of children's choir. Emotion organizes the process of formation and realization of a work of art at the level of rehearsal work. Emotion affects the ensemble, sound quality, purity of intonation, ensemble, structure, rhythmic organization at the level of vocal and choral performance techniques. Nonverbal emotions of the conductor (movements, facial expressions) stimulate the concert performance of the work. Emotions affect the creation of the form of the work, they dividing or combining it. It is proved that based on the emotional response and speech intonation, it is possible to significantly improve the performance of the children's choir. The study of synergistic aspects of choral performance will expand the horizons of choral thought.
The scientific novelty. For the first time the synergy of emotionality and choral intonation at different levels of performance in the work of children's choir is substantiated.
The practical significance. The study of the synergy of emotions and intonation in choral performance will expand the aspects of the development of choral thinking, it will be useful for leaders of children's choirs.
The article discusses the relationship between authorities and business in 19211922 using the example of the litigation at the end of March 1922 at the Supreme Tribunal of All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) accusing a group of employees of the People's Commissariat of Foreign Trade, Supreme Economic Council and private intermediaries in the sale and resale of imported paraffin at speculative prices. The uniqueness of this case was that the harsh sentence was quashed by the Presidium of VTsIK, and the case was dismissed. The deal lasted two weeks and was investigated by the Cheka and the Supreme Tribunal by denunciation of one of the customers who was dissatisfied with the growth in paraffin prices during this time. The process went in accordance with Lenin's directive to combat the abuse of NEP, although the defendants did not break the laws. Investigations and the court attributed normal trading practice to those abuses. It is shown that Lenin's instruction contradicted the principle of raising the productive forces at all costs previously put forward by himself. The article shows controversy between the leaders of economic departments, who spoke out in defense of the accused and for the development of NEP, and law enforcement officials who tried to limit NEP. The reasons for the cancellation of a severe conviction are analyzed. It is proposed how to use the lessons of the paraffin case to improve present relationships between business and authorities.

The article is devoted to the correlation between the norms of 'adat and shari'a in the Kumyk family life in the fi rst years of Soviet power. During this period, on the territory of the entire state, including Dagestan, Soviet legal doctrine was actively introduced with its own laws, principles and rules. The new laws of the country of the Soviets sharply contradicted the traditional norms of the Kumyks. This contradiction has been expressed in many issues, including family and domestic. At fi rst, the Soviet leadership strongly supported the norms of 'adat and shari'a. This was refl ected in the invitation to the dualistic marriage-according to the Soviet and shari'a laws. However, by the end of the 20s of the 20th century, an ideological campaign unfolded against the 'adat and shari'a norms.
This study addresses the issues of everyday etiquette situations in various cultures. The purpose is to establish shared and culture-specific rules of speech behaviour. The comparative analysis of the etiquette in British, American, Australian, and Ukrainian speaking cultures is complemented and extended by cognitive and semiotic perspectives. The conclusion drawn from a cognitive approach is that etiquette manifests internal mental processes and embodies mental models of everyday behaviour. In addition, A semiotic approach adopted for the study of etiquette can illuminate the etiquette sign plasticity and complexity, as well as explain variations in its form and content. The main properties of the etiquette signs are those connected with complexity, multimodality, form and content variability, functional flexibility, and combinatorial potential. The complexity of the etiquette signs is created by integration of their components appealing to different sensory modalities. Paraverbal and non-verbal means of communication accompany verbal interaction and thus increase the etiquette sign plasticity, making its form and content more variable and adoptive to different types and conditions of social behaviour. It can be argued that the etiquette space embraces subjects of interaction, etiquette situations, etiquette signs, norms and rules, and dominant values. In this respect, it is possible to distinguish several types of everyday etiquette situations relying upon their ritualisation degree. They include the least ritualised daily situations ("Greetings"), occasional situations ("Receiving Guests"), festive situations ("Birthday Celebrations"), the most ritualised ceremonial situations ("Weddings").Despite the differences between English and Ukrainian speaking cultures, communication is successfully executed in multicultural settings when the etiquette norms and politeness rules demand particular modes of behaviour. The implementation of the etiquette rules in everyday communication is determined by cultural and historical traditions, changing social settings as well as gender. A significant factor leading to differences in the etiquette acts sequence, their means of expression, is the speakers' cultural identity defined by either collectivism or individualism. In amicable everyday interactions, the British etiquette tends to establish and preserve the most personal space of speakers. The American etiquette values the economy of communicative efforts and democratisation of the social behaviour rules. The Australian etiquette norms are liberalised to favour the increase of emotional involvement and expressivity of interlocutors. On the other hand, intimisation, i.e. more personal mode of interaction, is appropriate in the Ukrainian conduct. With numerous manifestation differences, everyday etiquette situations in English speaking and Ukrainian speaking cultures share such fundamental properties as functional relevance, basic frame structure, simulations use of verbal, paraverbal and nonverbal means of expression, types and forms of employed formulae. The results of the study may suggest a broader hypothesis for further research into a diachronic investigation of the etiquette situations, their manifestation in various types of communication involving speakers of different polycentric languages. This study addresses the issues of everyday etiquette situations in various cultures. The purpose is to establish shared and culture-specific rules of speech behaviour. The comparative analysis of the etiquette in British, American, Australian and Ukrainian speaking cultures is complemented and extended by cognitive and semiotic perspectives. The novelty of this research results from distinguishing the notions of etiquette, speech etiquette, and politeness; introduction of the notion of etiquette space, which is defined as a structure including interlocutors, standardized (etiquette) situations, etiquette norms and rules, and cultural values; discovering common features of various etiquette situations, and the causative factors of the ritualization degree in everyday communication; classifying everyday etiquette situations by the degree of their ritualization; cognitive (frame) modelling of stereotypical etiquette situations; comparing and contrasting the etiquettes of Ukrainian speaking and English speaking, British, American and Australian in particular, cultures; discovering how everyday etiquette behaviour and the choice of verbal and nonverbal communication means are guided by cultural dominant values; revealing the etiquette sign plasticity and how it enables a sign form to vary and agree with interlocutors' cognitive and pragmatic preferences, degree of cultural tolerance, and mundane everyday behaviour. The comparative analysis of English and Ukrainian speaking etiquettes revealed that mandane everyday behaviour is grounded in shared mental models (frames). However, it exhibits culture-specific modifications at frame content level and means of its manifestation. The discussion of theoretical issues concerning the inclusivity relations between etiquette and speech etiquette, relatedness of politeness to etiquette, and ties between etiquette and ritual, contributed to the treatment of etiquette as a universal phenomenon, an integral constituent of cultural and social life. Etiquette establishes rules and norms of social interactions, regulates strategies and tactics of politeness, and ensures conflict-free communication. Speech etiquette provides successful implementation of interlocutors' pragmatic intentions, facilitates the establishment and maintenance of contact, harmonises forms and conditions of communication. The achievements in the study of speech etiquette in diachronic, sociological, pragmatic, cognitive, and semiotic aspects proved that this phenomenon requires a complex, multidisciplinary approach. This research also addresses a range of issues concerning the specificity of etiquette as a semiotic system, properties of verbal and non-verbal etiquette signs, their functional traits. The main properties of etiquette signs are those connected with complexity, multimodality, form and content variability, functional flexibility, and combinatorial potential. The complexity of the etiquette signs is created by the integration of their components appealing to different sensory modalities. In this respect, it is possible to distinguish several types of everyday etiquette situations relying upon their ritualisation degree. They include the least ritualised daily situations ("Greetings"), occasional situations ("Receiving guests"), festive situations ("Birthday celebrations"), the most ritualised ceremonial situations ("Weddings). An amicable and successful involvement into an everyday etiquette situation presupposes a knowledge of its normative and evaluative aspects: a knowledge of the scenario (required and/ or accepted sequence of performance), a knowledge of rules of behaviour (for instance, prescribed for greeting another), and awareness of evaluative judgements. A knowledge of these aspects is stored as a mental frame, which components are arranged in a certain sequence. The content level of frame structures is manifested by verbal, paraverbal and non-verbal means of expression to meet culture-specific requirements and behavioural stereotypes of interlocutors.Despite the differences between English and Ukrainian speaking cultures, communication is successfully executed in multicultural settings when etiquette norms and politeness rules demand particular modes of behaviour. The implementation of etiquette rules in everyday communication is determined by cultural and historical traditions, changing social settings as well as gender. A significant factor leading to differences in the etiquette acts sequence, their means of expression, is the speakers' cultural identity defined by either collectivism or individualism.
