Abstract
The paper argues for the importance of intercultural competence and ability to conduct dialogue as the most demanded skills in the 21st century society. It lies within the framework of an interdisciplinary model of generation and transfer of knowledge. Special emphasis is on the theory of dialogism by Michail Bakhtin and the polyparadigmatic approach to the analysis of culture and society introduced by Jurij S. Stepanov. The overlap of two conceptual (cultural) world-views is analyzed as the basis for successful contact of two cultures.

This article aims to explore the significant challenges posed by phenomenological un­translatables while also emphasizing their role as cultural phenomena. Phenomenological untranslatables are typically associated with a specific cultural, historical, or social context, and their meanings are shaped by the unique experiences of the community that uses them. They encode complex elements of human perception, emotions, or phenomena that do not have direct equivalents in other languages. Yet, the absence of direct linguistic equivalents should not be misconstrued as the absence of shared human experiences. By employing a multidisci­plinary approach that encompasses linguistics, cognitive science, and cultural studies, we have conducted an analysis of the conceptual framework underlying this type of lexis and identified macro- and micro-conceptual attributes that may necessitate various verbalizations in different cultural and contextual settings.

Axiological categories and the concepts they consist of have always been a major area of interest in science. The development of cognitive linguistics has opened new perspectives for the study of axiological events, categories and concepts within them. This article explores the structure of the axiological binary opposition truth-lie, based on the material of the English language. In English, the verbalised concept truth encodes information about both objective truth as well as its subjective perception and re-translation. A combination of methods — definitional, frame and conceptual analyses — makes it possible to investigate and model the structure of the frames TRUTH and LIE, identify their main slots and the type of conceptual information they encode. The results of the analyses suggest that the two frames have the same structure and the same number and type of slots. However, the conceptual content of the slots is different. From the conceptual point of view, the axiological binary opposition truth — lie is a continuum having an intermediate blend zone "neither truth nor lie", incorporating the axiological paradoxes, which form the conceptual basis of manipulation.

The article deals with the problem of personality creativity within the framework of the dichotomy "language VS communication", which is built into the triad "language – creativity – cognition". This triad is analyzed in two dimensions: from the point of view of the creativity of the language system; from the point of view of the creativity of a linguistic personality. Models and cognitive mechanisms of creativity are presented. Along with analogy and inference, there are three types of the main mechanism of creativity– deviations: pragmatic (distortion of the sign-user relationship); semantic (distortion of the sign-referent relationship); conceptual (distortion of the relationship between the conceptual structures of the original and new values). Pragmatic deviation plays a special role in the process of creative development of new meanings. The question of the boundaries of deviation and what imposes restrictions on the development of new creative meanings is considered. We prove that the limitations on the development of new creative meanings of the word are imposed by the conceptual structure of the original meaning of the word. Based on the latest achievements of Russian and foreign cognitive science, we analyze the structure of the mental lexicon as the main component that plays a leading role in creativity. The connection between creativity and the threat of manipulation is indicated. It is proved that linguistic creativity can lead to the creation of ambiguity (obscurity), which can lead to manipulation. The prospects for further research in the field of creativity are determined, namely, a cross-cultural approach to this phenomenon.

This article seeks to describe the dynamics of COVID-19 in the Baltic States and to analyse the ways of communicating the threat and its consequences. Particular attention is paid to the media strategies pursued in the study area. The research is based on Russian and English texts from the Baltic media, WHO official documents and datasets, as well as initiatives of the Baltic Sea region organisations (2020) counteracting COVID-19. A combination of these sources builds up an objective view of the situation and demonstrates how the pandemic and its consequences are represented in public consciousness given a certain pragmatic goal. The pandemic is a new type of threat; its consequences demonstrate a tendency towards negative synergy and a category shift from soft threats to hard ones. The research shows that several key strategies - counter-active, projective, conservative, mobilising, resilient, and reflective - are used to communicate the threat and its consequences in the media.

The article deals with the interaction between the conceptual spaces of language and culture within the framework of the language – culture – cognition triad. We argue that this interaction is based on a dynamic network of conceptual mappings. We prove that language and culture are connected by conceptual mappings within several dimensions: semiotic, communicative and cognitive. The main emphasis is on the analysis of the conceptual interactions between the mental spaces of two cultures and languages at several levels: at the macro level (the level of conceptual worldviews of two national cultures), at the meso level (the level of individual concepts) and at the micro level (the level of individual conceptual features that form the concept). We focus on the analysis of the micro level and prove the importance of conceptual features that have the highest degree of centrality, stability and high inferential potential in the process of conceptual mapping. Our study also proves that the inferential potentials of conceptual features do not coincide in two cultures and languages. This is reflected in the translation process. When translating features with a low inferential potential, the translator needs more cognitive efforts, since this process requires compensatory translation solutions to create the translation text. The maximum cognitive load on the translator should result in the minimization of the cognitive load on the recipient.
