Becoming Danish/Christian and becoming Muslim are skills that may be acquired in the secularized school system. This study explores how social structure and the politics of identity and knowledge in relation to religion intertwine when recontextualized in the classroom of the Danish comprehensive school post 9-11. Through close readings of what takes place at a classroom level in two Copenhagen schools, Pedagogized Muslimness provides insights into how the Nordic model of comprehensive schooling – in the (post-)welfare state – plays out in daily school life and with what effects. The book provides a deeper understanding of how knowledge is produced in school, and how school operates as an arena for the production and distribution of social difference. The good pupil is the pupil that speaks of her/himself, acting as a subject, or who, by confirming the teacher's organizing of her/himself, accepts being made into an object upon which knowledge can be generated. Particularly overexposed are the pupils, whom the teachers identify as 'Muslim', something which draws on decades of casting this group of children as special objects of – as well as obstacles to – schooling. By the late 1970s and the early 1980s, the children of migrants came to be defined by their parents' relation to the labor market: as 'foreign workers' in often unskilled jobs, associated with rural life and 'traditional family patterns', and characterized by what was seen as their (lack of) language skills. In the course of several moral panics around 'Muslims' and 'Muslim children', this focus has translated into a knowledge formation of culture/religion. The book shows how school-produced Muslimness, in the pedagogized social economy of the classroom, becomes a parameter of social class, higher as well as lower.

Papiret fokuserer på de forskellige faser for råstofprojekter og gennemgår de formelle krav og metoder, der anvendes til vurdering af råstoffernes effekter på samfundet i Grønland i dag: Social Impact Assessment (SIA) og Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA).

U ovom se radu promišlja i analizira odnos individualnog i socijalnog/grupnog identiteta na primjeru suvremene Bosne i Hercegovine. Ukazuje se na tjeskobu i nelagodu pojedinaca i grupa koji grade svoj grupni identitet na obilježjima i vrijednostima druge kulture kojoj zapravo ne pripadaju. Na taj način, pojedinac se fzički nalazi u svojoj zemlji/državi, a pod utjecajem politike i obrazovne politike, duhovno živi u nekom drugom okruženju. Takvi pojedinci najčešće postaju apatridi2, a da toga nisu svjesni, niti oni niti kreatori takve obrazovne politike. Oni se obrazovanjem udaljavaju od vlastite zajednice i kulture u kojoj žive i deklariraju pripadnicima neke druge kulture s kojom ih veže najčešće samo jedan od zajedničkih nazivnika, npr. religija. Na drugoj strani, pojedinci u BiH koji sebe svrstavaju u kategoriju ostali, ne grade svoj identitet isključivo na vjerskoj i nacionalnoj osnovi, oni ne teže biti što različitiji niti ekskluzivniji od ostalih svojih sunarodnjaka, oni svoje odnose s drugima utemeljuju na sličnostima i oni ne poimaju svoj identitet utemeljen isključivo na pripadnosti jednom od konstitutivnih naroda, iako im je to na neki način Ustavom zadano. Grupaciju ostali čine deklarirani patrioti BiH, čvrsto utemeljeni na svojoj zemlji, u svojoj domovini i nastoje graditi i oblikovati kompleksni bosansko-hercegovački socijalni identitet. Ova inverzija u kojoj se iz Ustavom defniranih konstitutivnih naroda zbog krize identiteta regrutiraju apatridi, i gdje ostali, iako im Ustav uskraćuje mnoga prava, postaju istinski patrioti, je jedinstven primjer koji, postoji samo u BiH i koji je uz sve druge okolnosti snažno potaknut obrazovnim sustavom. ; Tis paper considers and analyzes the relationship between individual and social / group identity on the example of modern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Evo Morales and the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) took office in Bolivia in 2006, riding on the wave of fierce popular protests against previous, neoliberal regimes. Morales was depicted as the country's first indigenous president. His government promised a radical transformation of national politics and rebranded Bolivia as a "plurinational state". Under MAS, indigenous subjectivity has moved from a marginalized position to center stage, and become a key condition for political legitimacy. This development is reflected in environmental politics. In international forums, the Bolivian government has claimed to represent a green indigenous alternative, a "culture of life", as opposed to a Western, capitalist "culture of death". However, on home ground, critics have accused MAS of coopting aspects of indigenous identity for its own interests and not applying its green agenda within the national borders. The national economy is dependent on intense extraction and export of natural resources, a trend which has not diminished under Morales. Thus, the first Bolivian government to frame itself as indigenous now stands behind initiatives for resource extraction and infrastructural expansion. This raises questions about whose rights are privileged when different actors express conflicting claims based on indigeneity. In this thesis, two salient themes are explored: MAS' positioning in international climate change negotiations, and the conflict around the plans to construct a highway across the TIPNIS national park and indigenous territory. Drawing on poststructural and postcolonial feminist theory, I analyze intersecting processes of power in Bolivian environmental struggles by unwrapping two figurations: the endangered glacier and the ecological indigenous. These have become emblematic, and are mobilized by various actors for different purposes. Situating these figurations in national and international discourses, I show how they may shift in meaning and both reinforce and challenge relations of power. The research material was generated through ethnographic fieldwork and collection of written texts. Through this study of contemporary Bolivia, I shed light on how power dynamics play out in the framing of environmental problems and their solutions; questions which should be central to research on environmental issues in all contexts. ; Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) bildade regering i Bolivia 2006 med Evo Morales på presidentposten, framburna av folkliga protester mot tidigare, nyliberala regimer. Morales beskrivs ofta som landets första president med bakgrund i ursprungsbefolkningen. Hans regering utlovade en radikal omställning av den nationella politiken och tillkännagav att Bolivia nu är en "plurinationell stat". Under MAS har ursprungsfolkstillhörighet rört sig från en marginaliserad ställning till en central position i nationell politik, och blivit en viktig förutsättning för politisk legitimitet. Denna utveckling återspeglas i miljöpolitiken. I internationella sammanhang har den bolivianska regeringen intagit en radikal ståndpunkt och presenterat en alternativ modell för hållbarhet grundat i andinsk ursprungsfolkstradition, en " livets kultur" som ställs i motsats till en västerländsk, kapitalistisk "dödens kultur". Dock har kritiska röster i Bolivia anklagat MAS för att använda sig av aspekter av ursprungsfolkskultur som en strategi för att rättfärdiga sina egna politiska intressen, utan att tillämpa sina gröna ideal på nationell nivå. Bolivias ekonomi är beroende av utvinning och export av naturresurser, en trend som inte har minskat under Morales tid vid makten. Samtidigt som hans regering framhåller ursprungsfolks traditioner och rättigheter, står den bakom initiativ till ökad naturresursutvinning och storskaliga infrastrukturprojekt. Detta väcker frågor om vilka anspråk som är mest legitima och vilkas rättigheter som bör beaktas när olika aktörer uttrycker motstridiga krav i ursprungsbefolkningars namn. I denna avhandling utforskas två teman som dominerat miljöpolitiken i Bolivia på senare år: MAS ' positionering i internationella klimatförhandlingar, och konflikten kring planerna på att bygga en motorväg tvärs igenom TIPNIS, en nationalpark som styrs av tre ursprungsbefolkningsgrupper. Med utgångspunkt i poststrukturalistisk och postkolonial feministisk teori analyserar jag intersektionella maktrelationer i boliviansk miljöpolitik, genom att undersöka två figurationer: den utrotningshotade glaciären, och det ekologiska ursprungsfolkssubjektet. Dessa har blivit symboliskt viktiga, och har mobiliserats av en mängd olika aktörer för vitt skilda syften. Genom att situera dessa figurationer i nationella och internationella diskurser visar jag hur de skiftar i betydelse och hur de kan både förstärka och utmana rådande maktrelationer. Forskningsmaterialet baseras på etnografiskt fältarbete och insamling av skrivna texter. Genom denna studie av Bolivia under Morales, visar jag hur makt tar sig uttryck i formuleringen av miljöproblem och tänkta lösningar; frågor som har relevans för forskning om miljöfrågor även i andra sammanhang.

Knjiga je afirmirana kao metafora za svijet znanja, a umnogome je utjecala i na sam sadržaj znanja ne samo kao čuvarica i prenositeljica istog, pa stoga budućnost knjige i njezinih inačica nije tek rasprava o budućnosti nekog proizvoda već pitanje usmjeravanja procesa koji oblikuju kulture i civilizacije. Hoće li se s tiskanom knjigom dogoditi isto što se dogodilo s voštanim svijećama nakon izuma žarulje? Hoće li digitalizacija zapisa bitno utjecati ne samo na demokratizaciju, mobilnost, dostupnost, preglednost znanja, koja se knjigom u obje ove forma čuva i distribuira, ili će e-knjiga svojom multimedijalnom interaktivnošću i višedimenzionalnošću uvelike utjecati ne samo na distribuciju već i na samo znanje? Trenutne ponude i čitanosti e-knjige u Hrvatskoj sugeriraju da ona nije zaživjela. Ni državne politike nemaju stvarnih nakana potpomaganja eknjige. Potpore su započele, ali su tek simbolične, porezna regulativa ne izjednačava tiskanu i e-knjigu što svakako ne pomaže promociji i potpori e-knjige u Hrvatskoj. ; Book is affirmed as a metaphor for the world of knowledge and it has greatly influenced on the knowledge content not only as a keeper and carrier of the same, therefore future of the book and its varieties is not a discussion about some product future but an issue of directing processes which form cultures and civilizations. Will the printed book have the same future as candles after the light bulb had been invented? Will the writings digitalization greatly influence on democratization, mobility, availability, knowledge visibility, which is preserved and distributed in both of these forms or will the e-book with its multimedia interactivity and multidimensionality greatly influence not only on distribution but also knowledge? Current offers and readership rating of e-book in Croatia suggest that it is yet to take hold. State policies also do not have real intentions for supporting e-books. Support has started, but only symbolically, tax regulation does not equalize printed and e-book what certainly does not help promotion and support of e-book in Croatia.

Dieser Beitrag über das 'modernistische Heimatdorf' in Sara Lidmans Werk bzw. 'die Heimat des Lidmanschen Werkes im literarischen Modernismus' baut auf der Erfahrung eines Aufenthaltes in Missenträsk auf (März 2013). Im Geburtshaus der Dichterin habe ich mich von den konkreten und textlichen Spuren des Ortes leiten lassen, eine Auswahl von Werken gelesen und mich, als deutsche Literaturwissenschaftlerin und Touristin, einem biographischen und atmosphärischen Experiment ausgesetzt. Vor diesem Hintergrund setzt sich die Werkauswahl aus den beiden ersten Romanen (1953, 1955) und dem zweiten Teil der Romanserie Jernbanan (1983–1999) zusammen, die einen starken regionalen Bezug aufweisen. Hinzu kamen einer der sogenannten Afrika-Romane, Jag och min son (1961), und das Protokoll-Buch Gruva (1968), die den dörflichen Horizont zwar klar überschreiten, aber dennoch gemeinsame thematische Komponenten und verwandte erzähltechnische Gestaltungsmittel aufweisen. Die mehrfache Fokalisierung ist eines der Verfahren Lidmans, die für einen eigenartigen Übergang zwischen der Wahrnehmungsposition von impliziter Erzählinstanz und den jeweils involvierten Figuren sorgt. Auf diese Weise wird das 'biograpische Interesse' der Lesenden immer wieder geweckt, die häufig eine Sprachrohrfigur vorzufinden meinen, aber niemals Klarheit über die jeweilige Parteinahme gewinnen können. Zugleich wird eine geschlechtsspezifische Zuordnung der Perspektiven verunsichert, denn der weiblich und der männlich konnotierte Blick können gleichzeitig zur Anwendung kommen. Trotz meiner biographischen Neugier, die auf die atmosphärische Wirkung von Missenträsk zurückgeht, liegt der Schwerpunkt der vorliegenden Analyse auf der sprachlichen Konstruktion des Heimatdorfes. Diese Verankerung in der mündlichen Sprache (als sprachlich erzeugter Ort) weist ebenso deutlich eine eigene Historizität auf wie der regional-, kultur-und mediengeschichtliche Wandel Norrlands. Nimmt man eine distan-zierte, ethnographische Haltung ein, wie sie Lidman selbst in der Serie Jernbanan nahelegt, ergibt sich eine Neubewertung der Kombinationen von historischen, auch dialektalen sprachlichen Registern: Dieses Verfahren zielt darauf ab, dass die Lesenden im performativen Nachvollzug die Kon-flikte zwischen den staatlichen Institutionen und Akteuren und den neuen Siedlern in Norrland erfahren können. Diese in der gesprochenen Sprache der Lokalbevölkerung aufgeführten sozialen und psychischen Konflikte hinterlassen Spuren in den Träumen, Gedanken, Dialogen, Lektüren und Texten. Der historische Ort erscheint vornehmlich als ein Konglomerat, das die mündliche Rede von Zeitzeugen hervorgebracht hat. Die Erzählinstanz nimmt sich der vielstimmigen Figurenrede an und dokumentiert den historischen Sprachgebrauch, unabhängig davon, ob ein realistischer oder phantastischer Code zur Geltung kommt. Häufig taucht das Motiv einer verzerrten Nachahmung auf. Dies kann als programmatischer Hinweis auf eine Ästhetik einer formalen, hier performativen und narrativen Mimesis gedeutet werden, die besonders klar den Nexus von sprachlichen und sozialen Handlungen herausstellt. Sprechen ist Handeln. Das Glossar, das den ländlichen Dialekt und Soziolekt ins Hochschwedische überträgt, unterstreicht ebenfalls das sprachliche Handlungspotential, das unmittelbare soziale und politische Effekte herbeiführen kann. In der Serie Jernbanan werden die stilistischen Kollisionen zugespitzt, wobei lautliche und syntaktische Mittel hinzutreten. Dies ist als prosalyrisches Verfahren gedeutet worden, kann aber auch der nachdrücklichen Betonung der inszenierten mündlichen Rede in ihrem Vollzug dienen. ; Bidraget om Sara Lidmans "modernistiska hembygd" respektive hennes "hembygd i den litterära modernismen" har en vistelse i författarens hem i Missenträsk (mars 2013) som utgångspunkt. Både mitt perspektiv som forskare och som turist i Norrland har präglat mina erfarenheter och mina aktualiserande läsningar av de utvalda verken. Bland annat har jag försökt att reagera med öppet sinne på författarhusets materiella och textuella hänvisningar, särskilt när läsningen har ägt rum på plats. De tidiga romanerna (1953, 1955) och andra delen av romanserien Jernbanan (1983–1999) kommenteras, men även den så kallade Afrika-romanen Jag och min son (1961) och protokollboken Gruva (1968) tas upp till diskussion trots att de går utöver den regionala kontexten, eftersom tematiska mönster samt berättartekniska och språkreflekterande medel går igen. Den flertydiga fokaliseringen är till exempel ett unikt medel som kännetecknar en säregen övergång mellan den implicita författarens och figurernas perspektiv. Därför skapas en "biografisk uppmärksamhet" hos läsarna som försöker att identifiera textens potentiella språkrör; samtidigt sätts karaktärernas könsspecifika perspektiv på prov genom att den manligt eller kvinnligt konnoterade blicken praktiseras simultant. Trots mitt suggestiva och biografiskt nyfikna angreppssätt ligger tonvikten i analysen på den språkligt konstruerade hembygden, det vill säga "hemmet i språket" mindre än på hemmet i den konkreta historiska landsbygden Missenträsk. Den språkligt konstruerade platsen har sin egen historicitet – liksom Norrland har sin egen regional-, kultur- och kommunikationshistoria. När man intar en etnografisk och distanserad position – som Lidman själv tydligt demonstrerar just i Jernbanan – framstår kombinationen av historiska, inklusive dialektala språkliga, register som ett tillvägagångssätt för att läsarna performativt skall kunna uppleva konflikterna mellan statsmaktens institutioner och nybyggarna i Norrland. Dessa sociala och psykologiska konflikter lämnar spår i figurernas fantasier, tänkande, tal, läsningar eller deras skriftliga yttringar. Den historiska platsen framstår därför som först och främst producerad av tidsvittnens röster. Berättaren tar hand om figurernas tal och dokumenterar det historiska språkbruket oberoende av den gällande realistiska eller fantastiska koden. Att vissa figurer brukar härma andras tal eller beteende är ett ofta använt grepp hos Lidman – motivet kan uppfattas som ett mimesis-program, vilket både fungerar som en narrativ och performativ metod och som ett språk-reflekterande grepp. Härmandet manifesterar att språkliga och sociala handlingar oupplösligt hör ihop. Till och med Lidmans glossar "Skellefteå-bondska – rikssvenska" pekar på språkets handlingspotential med såväl sociala som politiska konsekvenser. Lidmans analytiska arbete med språket fokuserar ytterligare språkets handlingsmakt, genom manipulation eller motstånd. I Jernbane-serien poängteras stilistiska kollisioner ännu tydligare, till och med ljudallusioner och syntaktiska medel som pauser och enjambement spelar en större roll. Detta har tolkats som prosalyriska kännetecken, men understryker enligt min uppfattning huvudsakligen det talade språkets betydelse. Enligt Lidmans författarskap är det just rösterna och talspråket som skapar världen och som kontinuerligt omformulerar den.

Reflections on the fringes of selected literary texts from Slavic People´s RepublicsFormulas of "forgetting" in the totalitarian half-century as well as post-1989 have changed shape and intensity. Strategies of disavowal and rejection of the proximate and distant past differ depending on the intensity of the ideologising processes in the structure of the phenomenon. The systemic mechanism of ritual burial and announcement of the end of "bad past, bad times" includes a number of phases (from construction to reconstruction).This paper examines the strategies under the first of these phases (1944–1956), during which the process of incorporating an external matrix created in revolutionary conditions (Soviet culture) into local culture/literature was the strongest. The practice consists of an unconditional transfer from the model of a maximum number of factors which sanction acts of disavowing the proximate and distant past and legitimise subjection to the chosen / ideal system (denial/discreditation of the old world order, new genres, a new way to explain the past, clear vision of the future). Strategie dezawuowania i odrzucania bliskiej czy odległej przeszłości różnią się w zależności od stopnia natężenia procesów ideologizacji. Systemowy mechanizm rytualnego grzebania i głoszenia końca "złej przeszłości, złego czasu" przechodził kilka faz (od konstrukcji do rekonstrukcji).W artykule została podjęta próba opisu najstarszej fazy zjawiska, gdy do kultur lokalnych zostaje inkorporowana matryca zewnętrzna, wypracowana w warunkach rewolucyjnych (wzorzec sowiecki). W praktyce oznaczało to bezwzględne przeniesienie z "wzorca" maksy­malnej liczby czynników sankcjonujących akty dezawuowania przeszłości, a legitymizujących podległość wybranemu/idealnemu systemowi (wyparcie, dyskredytowanie starego porządku świata, nowe gatunki, formy, sposoby tłumaczenia przeszłości skutkujące zrealizowaniem idei "świetlanej przyszłości").

Gammalsvenskby is the only Swedish settlement to the east from Finland, founded in 1782. In the past of Gammalsvenskby the history of the Soviet Union, Sweden, the international communist movement and Nazi Germany combined in a bizarre form. And even when the ploughmen of the Kherson steppes did not left their native village, the great powers themselves visited them with the intention to rule forever. The history of colony is viewed through the prism of the theory of "forcednormalization" and the concept of "changes of collective identity". The author intends to study the techniques of forced normalization and the strategy of the collective resistance. Andrej Kotljarchuk is an associate professor in history, working as a university lecturer at the Department of History, Stockholm University; and as a senior researcher at the School of Historical and Contemporary Studies, Södertörn University. His research focuses on ethnic minorities and role of experts' communities, mass violence and the politics of memory. His recent publications include the book chapters "The Nordic Threat: Soviet Ethnic Cleansing on the Kola Peninsula" (2014), "The Memory of Roma Holocaust in Ukraine: Mass Graves, Memory Work and the Politics of Commemoration" (2014); as well as the articles "World War II Memory Politics: Jewish, Polish and Roma Minorities of Belarus", in Journal of Belarusian Studies (2013) and "Kola Sami in the Stalinist terror: a quantitative analysis", in Journal of Northern Studies (2012). ; I boken analyseras de olika sociala experiment som invånarna i Gammalsvenskby i Ukraina utsattes för under 1900-talets första hälft. Från 1700-talet och framåt hade svenskbyborna täta kontakter med Sverige och Finland och behöll sin svenska identitet och kultur. Den stalinistiska staten försökte vid flera tillfällen förändra svenskbybornas kollektiva identitet. De skulle "normaliseras" och bli goda sovjetukrainska medborgare, medlemmar av internationella kommunistiska rörelsen och medvetna byggare av det socialistiska samhället. 1929 emigrerade samtliga invånare i Staroshvedskoe (888 personer) till Sverige, efter förhandlingar mellan den svenska och den sovjetiska regeringen. I Sverige sattes en mängd insatser in för att "integrera" Ukrainasvenskarna i det moderna samhället. De fick inte bosätta sig tillsammans och övervakades av inspektörer på praktikplatser, så att integrationen gick rätt till. Ungefär en tredjedel av Ukrainasvenskarna valde därefter att återvända till Sovjetunionen. Efter deras återkomst till Röda Svenskbyn genomfördes där ett experiment administrerat av Komintern och under ledning av kommunister från Sveriges kommunistiska parti. Experimentet gick ut på att bygga upp den första svenska kolchosen i Sovjetunionen. Under den Stora Terrorn arresterades och arkebuserades 23 svenskbybor, anklagade för att ha byggt upp en "svensk spionorganisation". Den tyska ockupationen av Ukraina medförde att Ukrainasvenskar blev offer för ännu ett experiment, denna gång i form av en nazi-germanisering av den svenska befolkningen i Altschwedendorf. 1945 förvisades svenskbybor av den sovjetiska säkerhetspolisen till Gulag eftersom de klassificerades som folkets fiender. Inom ramen för Michel Foucaults och Alberto Meluccis teorier undersökas i boken den sovjetiska tvångsnormaliseringens tekniker. Dessa användes framgångsrikt av myndigheterna för ideologisk, lingvistisk och kulturell omstöpning av Ukrainasvenskarna, men författaren visar också hur svenskbyborna gjorde kollektivt motstånd. ; Swedish colonies in Ukraine

"Playing catch up". The notion of needing to accelerate a country's progress towards a civilised paradise – the Bulgarian version (a proposed entry for a dictionary of peregrinating ideas)This paper outlines the main stages in the process through which the notion of "needing to catch up" (a belief that the country was in need of accelerated development) became incorporated into the idea of Bulgarian national identity. Since the mid-19th century, Bulgarians have tended to rely on the notion of "needing to catch up" as a way of conceptualising their place among "the civilised nations," a concept they regard with varying degrees of desirability. I use the concept of "needing to catch up" in the sense of a culturally and politically functional standard or template, which nonetheless cannot function as an independent concept since it belongs to different systems of ideas with their various economic, geopolitical, religious, psychological and cultural aspects. Inseparably wedded to the idea of "needing to catch up" is the idea of "retardation", which was floated in discussions on the Bulgarian condition even before the Bulgarian state emerged as a political reality. As the national movement grew in strength, these inferiority complexes morphed into their mirror image: a belief that Bulgarians were capable of catching up with Europe in terms of cultural advancement. From the early fascination with the cultural achievements of the "enlightened nation" felt by the so-called "Orthodox Enlightenment" thinkers, through a replication of the Russian discourse, this line of reasoning culminated in Marxist ideology (including propaganda between 1945 and 1989) and the post-1989 politics of persuasion. The bell may be tolling for the time-bound idea of "needing to catch up", a notion which has exhausted its potential to excite intellectual conflict or struggle, and has very possibly resulted is a self-poisoning of the cultures which indulged in it, only to become doomed to dull, infantile repetition. "Doganianie" rozumiem jako kulturowo i politycz­nie funkcjonalny wzór rzeczy, który jest konceptem niesamodzielnym, należącym do różnych systemów idei, mającym swój aspekt ekonomiczny, geopolityczny, religijny, psychologiczny, kulturowy. Formuła opóźnienia, zintegrowana z ideą doganiania zagościła w dyskusjach nad statusem Bułgarów jeszcze przed zaistnieniem narodu politycznego. Wraz z rozwojem ruchu narodowego kompleksy otrzymały swój rewers w postaci wiary w możliwość zrównania poziomu cywilizacyjnego z europejskim. Ta linia rozumowania prowadziła od pierwszych fascynacji dorobkiem "oświeconych narodów" w ramach tzw. oświecenia prawosławnego, przez odwzorowywanie dyskursu rosyjskiego po myśl marksistowską (z jej propagandową dominantą w latach 1945–89) i polityki perswazyjne po 1989 roku. Wydaje się, że współcześnie mamy do czynienia z podzwonnym dla związanej z czasowością idei doganiania, która wyczerpała swój potencjał agoniczny a może nawet przyczyniła się do "samozatrucia" absorbujących ją kultur, skazujących się na infantylizację i nudę powtórzeń.

Neukaledonien, ein französisches Überseegebiet im Südpazifik, das über 25% der weltweiten Nickelreserven besitzt, durchläuft nach dem Bürgerkrieg in den 1980er Jahren aktuell einen Entkolonialisierungsprozess. Hin- und hergerissen zwischen Unabhängigkeitsforderungen der indigenen Kanaks und politischer Zugehörigkeit zu Frankreich zeigt sich die zweigespaltene Gesellschaft auch in der räumlichen Segregation der Bevölkerung. Dieser postkoloniale Kontext stellt den Forscher/die Forscherin vor besondere Herausforderungen. Neben dem sozio-wirtschaftlichen und politischen Kontext analysiert der vorliegende Artikel unterschiedliche Faktoren, die den Forscher/die Forscherin in seiner ethnographischen Feldforschung beeinflussen. Familiärer Hintergrund und Erziehung der Forscherin/des Forschers haben Auswirkungen auf den Beziehungsaufbau und das Verhalten zu anderen. Die eigene Präsentation und die institutionelle Zugehörigkeit spielen bei der täglichen Arbeit im Feld eine bedeutende Rolle. Bei der Informationsbeschaffung und der Publikation von Forschungsergebnissen ist das Recht auf geistiges Eigentum zu berücksichtigen, welches sowohl materielle wie auch immaterielle Dinge umfasst. Die Outsider-Situation des Forschers in einer fremden Kultur kann zu Unbehagen führen, welches durch Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Forschern oder mit lokalen Institutionen durchbrochen werden kann. Forschung kann in diesem Sinne nützlich sein, wenn die Ergebnisse Politik, Wirtschaft und lokaler Bevölkerung zugänglich sind. ; New Caledonia, a French overseas territory in the South Pacific that possesses more than 25% of the worlds nickel reserves, is currently undergoing a process of decolonization, after a period of Civil War in the 1980s. Balanced between demands for independence of the indigenous Kanak population and political affiliation to France, there is a spatial as well as a socio-economic and cultural division of the population. I argue for socially responsible research strategies in a cross-cultural and politically charged context, and outline some of the factors that influenced my own ethnographic work. The researchers family background and education affect the structure of relationships and behaviours. Self-presentation and institutional affiliation play an important role in daily fieldwork. Information and data collection as well as publication of research results have to respect intellectual property rights, which are tangible and intangible. An outsider position in a foreign culture can lead to discomfort, which can be tackled by working closely with local researchers and institutions. Research can be useful in this situation, if the results are made available to local people, political actors, and business.

No doubt impacts from climate change on natural resources threaten achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. But of more concern is the controversial "climate-conflicts nexus" theory which paints a grim future as resources become scarcer in Africa. Though some scientists believe that this popular theory is biased, there is an evident knowledge gap on successful adaptation strategies currently sustaining rural livelihoods across the Sub-Sahara. Moreover, poorly coordinated "adaptation expertise" actors in climate-vulnerable communities nurture legal pluralism and sectorial divisions that are now also projected to instigate resource conflicts at the community level. Possibility of such a scenario creates the need for efficient resource governance structures that clearly delineate actor responsibilities for enhanced site-specific conflict-sensitive adaptation. Social network analysis is emerging as the best tool for identifying actor roles and unlocking cooperation deadlocks in natural resource management. However, a methodological gap exists on how to effectively incorporate social network notions into governance frameworks for evaluating community responses to climate change and resource conflicts using actor-linkages. To resolve this technical gap, I formulate a theoretical governance approach based on social network theory to simultaneously identify rural actors and analyse their governance activities in a multi-resource sector community. The objective is to investigate; with whom does a rural natural resource user do what? How? If, not possible, then why not? With a specific focus on climate adaptation and resource conflict resolution issues. My innovative framework - ecosystem service governance (ESG) approach - builds further the Ecosystem Approach and also incorporates monetary valuation of ecosystem services. To test functionality of the ESG approach, I implement it on the social network of Loitoktok in Kenya. My focus is on key ecosystem services that are economically important namely, food production, wildlife, water and medicinal plants in the district. Application of ESG requires empirical information that consists of both relational and resource attributes data gathered using structured questionnaires, expert interviews, and group discussions. Secondary data is obtained from official resource records and documents from different government agencies. Findings reveal a significant relationship between actor linkages and adaptation performance in the agriculture, wildlife and water sectors. Whereby, high inter-actor connections in the agriculture and wildlife sectors result in many diverse adaptation measures, poor linkage in the water sector lowers collaborative adaptation activity while the medicinal plants sector has no actor interlinkage and which promotes individual-effort adaptation practises. Secondly, dense connectivity among resource conflict resolution actors facilitates implementation of three unique mechanisms that enhance cohesion in the community. Formation of actor linkages is hindered by poor coordination, low financial support and insufficient manpower. In addition, absent inter-actor linkage in the medicinal plants sector is rooted in its lack of recognition as a valid formal economic sector that hinders legislation and contributes to lack of public interest. To resolve the identified hindrances, the ESG approach has an additional feature that simulates an "optimum" resource governance structure through network weaving actions by certain brokers. The resultant hypothetical structure illuminates potential pathways for increasing adaptation performance, livelihoods diversification, carbon sequestration and culture preservation in Loitoktok. The formulated ecosystem service governance approach effectively answers the aforementioned research questions by revealing how adaptation and resource conflict resolution are precisely being implemented at the community level. Secondly, the study proposes using the established Revolving Fund scheme (responsible for aggregating individuals into community (business) interest groups) in disseminating climate adaptation knowledge alongside economic development. Thirdly, significance of the formulated ESG approach cannot be understated in relation to the current devolution predicament in Kenya. Whereby, the newly formed County governments can utilise the ESG for identifying collaboration deadlocks in their social structures. Finally, since the ESG approach also gives a practical structural solution to enhance resource governance, then it is foreseen that subsequent objective netweaving of actor linkages at the community and County levels will enhance climate governance especially rural adaptive capacity and reduce risk of projected climate-driven resource conflicts in Kenya. ; Die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf die natürlichen Ressourcen bedrohen zweifellos das Erreichen der Millennium-Entwicklungsziele. Aber noch bedenklicher ist der umstrittene Zusammenhang zwischen Klimawandel und Konflikten, der aufgrund einer Verknappung der Ressourcen in Afrika eine düstere Zukunft erwarten lässt. Obwohl einige WissenschaftlerInnen diese Ansicht für unausgewogen halten, gibt es ein offensichtliches Forschungsdefizit in Bezug auf mögliche Anpassungsstrategien, die ländliche Lebensweise in Afrika südlich der Sahara aufrechterhalten können. Darüber hinaus fördert die mangelhafte Koordination von Akteuren im Bereich der \"Anpassungsexpertise\" einen rechtlichen Pluralismus und eine sektorale Aufteilung innerhalb klimasensibler Gemeinden, was in Zukunft Ressourcenkonflikte auf Gemeindeebene begünstigen könnte. Ein solches Szenario macht deutlich, dass effizientere Ressourcen-Managementstrukturen nötig sind, die den involvierten AkteurInnen klar definierte Verantwortungsbereiche in Hinblick auf ortsspezifische und konfiktsensible Anpassungsmaßnahmen zuweisen. Es besteht jedoch eine methodische Lücke bezüglich der Frage, wie die Netzwerkstrukturen effektiv in einen Governance-Rahmen integriert werden können, um Akteursbeziehungen wirksam für die Bewertung der Anpassungsfähigkeit von Gemeinden auf den Klimawandel und existierenden Ressourcenkonflikte zu nutzen. Um diese methodische Lücke zu füllen, habe ich einen theoretischen Governance-Ansatz erarbeitet, der auf sozialer Netzwerktheorie basiert. So können AkteurInnen zugleich in Bezug auf Klimawandel, Ressourcenkonflikte und Governanceaktivitäten in Multi-Ressourcen-Umgebungen analysiert werden. Ziel ist es zu untersuchen, mit wem Nutzer ländlicher natürlicher Ressourcen was tun, wie sie es tun und falls sie es nicht tun, warum nicht? Der Fokus soll hierbei deutlich auf Aspekten der Anpassung an den Klimawandel und der Lösung potentieller Ressourcenkonflikte liegen. Mein innovativer Ökosystem-Service-Governance-Ansatz (ESG) ist eine Weiterentwicklung des Ökosystemansatzes und ergänzt diesen durch eine monetäre Bewertung von Ökosystemdienstleistungen. Um den ESG-Ansatz zu testen, habe ich ihn auf das soziale Netzwerk von Loitoktok in Kenia angewendet, wobei ich mich auf die wirtschaftlich wichtigsten Ökosystemdienstleistungen konzentriert habe. Die benötigten empirischen Daten, die sowohl aus relationalen als auch aus ressourcenspezifischen Informationen bestehen, wurden mittels strukturierter Fragebögen, ExpertInneninterviews und Gruppendiskussionen erhoben. Während starke Verbindungen zwischen den AkteurInnen innerhalb der Sektoren "Nahrungsmittelproduktion" und "Tierwelt" zu einer Diversifizierung der Anpassungsstrategien führen, sorgen schwache Verbindungen im Wassersektor und keinerlei Vernetzung im Heilpflanzensektor für geringere Anpassungsaktivitäten; hier steht die Entwicklung individueller Anpassungsstrategien im Vordergrund. Außerdem ermöglicht eine enge Verbindung zwischen den an der Lösung von Ressourcenkonflikten beteiligten AkteurInnen die Entwicklung von drei Mechanismen, die den Zusammenhalt der Gemeinde verbessern: Die Ausprägung der Akteurs-Verbindungen kann durch mangelhafte Koordination, geringe finanzielle Unterstützung und fehlende Arbeitskraft gehemmt werden. Die Abwesenheit von Akteurs-Verbindungen im Heilpflanzensektor lässt sich durch die geringe Anerkennung als formaler Wirtschaftssektor erklären, was zu einer fehlenden Rechtsgrundlage und geringem öffentlichen Interesse führt. Um derartige Hindernisse zu beseitigen, verfügt der ESG-Ansatz über die Möglichkeit, mithilfe von Vermittlern Vernetzungsstrukturen zu schaffen, die ein \"optimales\" Ressourcengovernance simuliert. Anhand der resultierenden hypothetischen Strukturen können mögliche Pfade einer verbesserten Anpassungsfähigkeit, einer Diversifizierung von Lebensgrundlagen, der Kohlenstoffspeicherung und der Bewahrung der Kultur in Loitoktok aufgezeigt werden. Mit dem entwickelten Ökosystem-Service-Governance-Ansatz können effektiv die eingangs gestellten Forschungsfragen beantwortet werden, indem aufgezeigt wird, wie Maßnahmen zur Anpassung und Lösung von Ressourcenkonflikten auf Gemeindeebene konkret implementiert werden. Zweitens sollte der Beitrag des ESG-Ansatzes zum Umgang mit der aktuellen dysfunktionalen Dezentralisierung in Kenia nicht unterschätzt werden, denn die neu entstandenen Regierungen von Landkreisen können mit Hilfe des ESG-Ansatzes Kooperationsprobleme innerhalb ihrer sozialen Netzwerke aufdecken. Da der ESG-Ansatz schließlich eine praktische Lösung für eine verbesserte Struktur des Ressourcen-Governance eröffnet, ist absehbar, dass die folgende Vernetzung von Akteurs-Verbindungen auf Gemeinde- und Landkreisebene die Anpassungsfähigkeit und Klima-Governance im ländlichen Raum stärkt, und klimainduzierte Ressourcenkonflikte in Kenia verringert.
